Abstract

The Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU), which was established to unify, represent, and advance the interests of the Urhobo people of Delta State, Nigeria, has played a significant role in fostering community cohesion, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development between 1999 and 2024. This period marked a transformative era for the UPU, characterized by adaptation to modern challenges while retaining its foundational principles. Data were gathered for the study through oral interviews, focus groups, textbooks, internet sources, journals, and unpublished theses. From 1999 to 2024, the UPU expanded its influence through strategic partnerships with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations, focusing on advocacy for the rights and welfare of the Urhobo people of Delta State, Nigeria. The Union also played a pivotal role in addressing critical issues such as environmental degradation in the Niger Delta, youth unemployment, and the marginalization of the Urhobo people in national politics.  However, challenges such as internal leadership disputes, evolving socio-political dynamics, and the need to engage younger generations tested the organization's resilience. By 2024, the UPU emerged stronger, having to redefine its strategies to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. This study traces the UPU's journey from 1999 to 2024, highlighting its successes, challenges, and ongoing commitment to advancing the Urhobo nation. It provides a framework for understanding the union's impact and its roadmap for future progress

Abstract

This study examines the use of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) microfinance in supporting Sharia-based Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through an analysis of capital management behavior and Islamic financial literacy. Using purposive sampling, a total of 59 Sharia-compliant MSME operators in the Special Region of Yogyakarta were surveyed through structured questionnaires that capture indicators of Sharia capital foundations, microfinance utilization, and operational financing support. The collected data were analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to identify the latent constructs underlying MSME behavior in adopting BMT-based financing. The EFA results extracted three dominant factors—Sharia-Based Capital Foundations, Function of Sharia Microfinance Utilization, and Operational and Innovation Support Through Sharia Financing—which jointly explain 51.821% of the total variance. These findings demonstrate that BMT plays a significant role in providing halal-based capital, supporting MSME operational efficiency, and strengthening innovation capacity within a Sharia-compliant framework. The study provides empirical evidence on the importance of Sharia microfinance institutions in enhancing MSME sustainability and contributes a model that may be adapted to emerging Sharia-based MSME ecosystems in other countries, such as the Philippines.

Abstract

Today, the innovation process is decentralized across a company's value chain and involves various actors. This study focuses on how the value chain enhances innovation and the government's impact on innovation in the creative industry in Yogyakarta. The research method used was qualitative research with data collection through interviews. The population in this study was the creative industry in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, with 13 creative industry actors from various business sectors serving as samples. The results show that each stage of the value chain—creation, production, distribution, and commercialization—can generate innovation for the creative industry, and government support at each stage of the value chain can encourage the creative industry to innovate. As a result, innovation in the creative industry can be increased by optimizing activities at each value chain and with government support. Suggestions for future research include expanding the sample, particularly to sectors not yet examined in this study, to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by the low level of digital technology utilization in marketing and order recording systems among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly at Toko Plastikku MSME. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the implementation of digital marketing through e-commerce platforms and an Excel-based order recording system can assist MSME actors in improving business efficiency and effectiveness. The method used is an assistance approach carried out through several stages, namely observation, problem identification, solution planning, Shopee account creation and management, and implementation of an order recording system. The results show that after the assistance process, MSME actors are able to utilize the Shopee platform to expand market reach and increase sales potential. In addition, the implementation of an Excel-based recording system helps manage order data more systematically, accurately, and efficiently. However, challenges remain in terms of time management and adaptation to digital technology, which require continuous assistance. Therefore, this activity contributes to improving operational efficiency and enhancing MSME competitiveness in the digital era.
