Abstract

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a chronic medical condition characterized by an increase in systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic ≥90 mmHg based on two measurements at rest. In the treatment of hypertension, in addition to pharmacological treatment, complementary therapy approaches based on medicinal plants are starting to gain attention because they are considered safer. Garlic is one of the most widely studied because of its bioactive compound content which has pharmacological activity, including in lowering blood pressure and as a natural antioxidant. The review was conducted using the method of collecting several national research journals and previously published literature. The sources used in this journal review are several journals that have been accredited by SINTA and also literature from the last 5 years. The search for articles and research journals was carried out using article search engines such as PubMed, ResearchGate, Google, and Google Scholar. The journal review conducted this time aims to see and find out how much potential the garlic plant has to act as an antihypertensive. The sources used in this review are journals that have been accredited. The results of several literature studies found that there was an effect of giving garlic herbal medicine to hypertension sufferers. The conclusion is that giving garlic infusion can lower blood pressure in hypertension patients.

Abstract

Indonesia has many plants that have medicinal properties, which are used to cure diseases. Medicinal plants native to Indonesia have quite promising potential, one of which is red betel leaf (Piper crocatum Ruiz) which contains phytochemical compounds including flavonoid compounds. Flavonoid compounds in betel leaves (Peperomia pellucida L.), fruit betel leaves (Piper betle L.) and Chinese betel leaves (Peperomia pellucida L.) herbal plants belonging to the Piperaceae family, have the ability to act as growth antibiotics against bacteria that cause acne, herbal plants included. The functional group (CO) of alcohol, ether, carboxylic acid, ester is of strong intensity with a frequency area of around 1050 - 1300. – 1360 and medium intensity with a frequency area of 3300 – 3500.. Functional group (CC) of strong intensity alkanes with a frequency area ranging between 1340 – 1470 and 2850 – 2970.. Alkene functional group (C= C) intensity varies with the frequency area around between 1610 – 1680..And the functional groups detected are the (C=O) aldehyde group, ketone, alcohol, ether, carboxylic acid, ester with a frequency area ranging between 1690 – 1760.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the total levels of alkaloids and flavonoids in Bintangur plants (Calophyllum soullattri burm.f.) using the FTIR method and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The Bintangur plant is known to have various medicinal properties, such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The extraction methods used include maceration, soxhletation, and reflux. The samples used were Bintangur leaves and bark, which were obtained from Tanjung Batu, Sorong City. The results showed that alkaloid and flavonoid levels could be detected well, providing a significant indication of the potential use of this plant in medicine. FTIR analysis was used to identify functional groups, while UV-Vis spectrophotometry was used to determine alkaloid and flavonoid concentrations. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the standardization of Bintangur extract in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as increasing understanding of the benefits of local medicinal plants in Indonesia. These findings are an important step in the development of safe and effective herbal products.

Abstract

Free radicals are reactive molecules that can cause cell damage through oxidative processes and are major factors in various degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The neutralization of free radicals can be achieved by antioxidant compounds that inhibit oxidation reactions. One plant with potential as a natural antioxidant source is the ant plant (Myrmecodia pendens), traditionally used by the Raja Ampat community to treat various diseases. This study aimed to identify bioactive compounds and evaluate the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of the ant plant originating from Yenbeser Village, Raja Ampat Regency. This research was an experimental laboratory study using the maceration method with 70% ethanol as a solvent. Antioxidant activity was measured using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm using vitamin C as a positive control. The results showed an extract yield of 17.15%, with bioactive compounds identified as flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids, while saponins were not detected. The IC₅₀ value obtained was 150,62 µg/mL, categorized as strong antioxidant activity. In conclusion, the ethanol extract of the ant plant (Myrmecodia pendens) from Yenbeser Village has strong antioxidant activity and potential to be developed as a natural antioxidant source for phytopharmaceuticals and traditional medicines based on West Papua natural resources

Abstract

Service quality is an important factor that can shape patient satisfaction with the health center so that their loyalty as consumers of health services is created. Based on initial observations made by researchers, service problems found at the Mayamuk Community Health Center pharmacy in Sorong Regency were found during the drug service process, namely patients had to wait a long time because of the long preparation time for drugs caused by the large number of prescriptions, and long queues often cause discomfort for patients, it will be a serious problem for the health center because it can affect the satisfaction of outpatients in obtaining health services. This study aims to determine how influential the quality of pharmacy services is on patient satisfaction at the Mayamuk Community Health Center with a sample of 95 people with the calculation of the Slovin formula. The method used is quantitative research. The results of the study showed that the variable of pharmacy service quality (X1) has a significant influence on patient satisfaction (X2) with a significance value of 0.00 which is smaller than 0.05.
