Birrul waalidain is part of the ethics of a Muslim, especially for the younger generation of Muslims to be devoted to parents. In the concept of Islam, respecting parents is the key to one's success in the stages of life. In addition, in the context of Javanese culture which also upholds the value of respect for parents, the practice of Birrul waalidain in Muslim teenagers is an interesting encounter between religious teachings and local culture. This study aims to determine the current attitude of Birrul waalidain among Javanese Muslim teenagers. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with six informants selected by purposive sampling with the criteria of adolescents aged 13-20 years, Muslim, and domiciled in Java. The data collection method was conducted through semi-structured interviews, and data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. As a result of this research, three themes emerged, namely Birrul waalidain's behavior, which was demonstrated by helping with housework, caring for, obeying, praying, making others proud, paying attention, and speaking softly. The next theme is Understanding the meaning of Birrul waalidain, which means making parents happy, obeying, helping, and praying. The final theme is the importance of Birrul waalidain, which is motivated by religious teachings, as an effort to repay kindness and maintain morals. These findings further implicate the importance of formal and informal early childhood Islamic Education to ensure a better social attitude in Javanese Muslim teenagers.

Abstract

This research explores workplace well-being in the context of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, with a focus on aspects of justice, sincerity, obedience and calling. Workplace well-being in Islamic boarding schools includes a healthy work environment, social support, work-life balance, recognition of contributions, career development, and access to physical and mental health resources. Pesantren as an integral Islamic educational institution in Indonesian Muslim society has a unique approach to workplace well-being, which involves the values of simplicity, sincerity, independence, Islamic brotherhood and independence. This research uses a mixed method which combines qualitative grounded theory and quantitative descriptive approaches. Data was collected through interviews, observation and Likert scales. Development of an Islamic boarding school workplace well-being measuring tool through the steps of developing a theoretical framework, preparing a blueprint, writing items, expert assessment, reading tests, psychological scale tests, differential power and reliability analysis, and preparing the final scale. This measuring instrument was tested using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), showing four factors that were able to explain 90% of the variance in workplace well-being in Islamic boarding schools. CFA results indicate high validity and reliability of this instrument. Workplace well-being in Islamic boarding schools is formed from justice, sincerity, obedience and calling, which emphasizes internal spirit over external needs, approaching workplace spirituality from a positive psychology perspective. This research concludes that workplace well-being in Islamic boarding schools can be achieved through a harmonious balance between justice, obedience, sincerity and calling in carrying out Islamic boarding school duties.

Abstract

Some adolescents experience dissatisfaction when their bodies undergo unwanted changes. They will develop an exaggerated negative self-image that leads to body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). The negative image that adolescents with BDD tendencies have of themselves is not only limited to their appearance but has extended to their whole self. Some adolescents with BDD tendencies experience self esteem problems. This study aims to determine the effect of gratitude therapy on self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies. The subjects in this study amounted to 8 people selected by purposive sampling technique. Subjects in this study are adolescents aged 15-18 years and have dissatisfaction with certain body parts. This type of research is a two group randomized pretest-posttest control group design with instruments in the form of a body dysmorphic disorder tendency scale and Rosenberg self esteem scale. The data in this study were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that gratitude therapy can increase self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies. This can be seen from the results of the Mann Whitney test which shows a value of Z = -2.021 (p = 0.043 <0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that gratitude therapy can increase self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies.

Abstract

Although various sexual education media have been developed, the number of marriage dispensation applications continues to show a worrying upward trend. This indicates that the existing educational efforts have not been effective in preventing early marriage. Therefore, an innovative approach is needed to produce sexual education media that is more effective and comprehensive. This study aims to develop an alternative medium of child marriage prevention in Surakarta City in the form of Serat Widya Pramana-Based Sexual Education E-Comic. The research employed the Research and Development method, covering three out of five stages of the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development). The e-comic development was evaluated for its content, linguistic and media feasibility by experts and potential users. Additionally, pilot testing was conducted on a small-scale research subject using a Quasi-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The e-comic received a score of 68 (good) from the healthy reproduction material expert, 80 (good) from the literature expert, 96 (excellent) from the language experts, 90 (excellent) from the media experts, and 69.3 (good) from prospective users. Subsequently, pilot testing was carried out on 10 (4 females and 6 males) adolescents from SMK "X" Surakarta. Data analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant increase in sexual knowledge (p=0.000, p<0.05) and a significant decrease in adolescents' intention toward early marriage (p=0.008, p<0.05). Therefore, the Sexual Education E-Comic Serat Widya Pramana is deemed suitable as an alternative medium for preventing early marriage in Surakarta City.

Abstract

Changes in values and participation patterns in the tradition of rewang have become a significant issue amidst social development in Javanese society. This study aims to explore the differences in perspectives between the Baby Boomer generation and Generation Z regarding the rewang tradition based on six collectivism aspects. The subjects consisted of three Baby Boomer women aged 61-79 and twenty Generation Z individuals aged 13-28, recruited using purposive sampling based on their involvement and knowledge of rewang. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through focus group discussions, open-ended questionnaires, and analysis of comments on short films and social media videos related to rewang. The data were analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that Baby Boomers view rewang as an essential part of social identity and collective obligation, while Generation Z interprets it contextually, considering efficiency and personal autonomy. These results indicate that collectivist values persist but adapt according to social dynamics and generational changes. The study’s implications are vital for developing culturally sensitive preservation strategies that respond to shifting intergenerational values in contemporary society.

Abstract

The mental health of working women is a critical issue within the context of increasing dual burdens of work and domestic responsibilities. Mindfulness interventions have been proposed as an effective approach to enhancing psychological well-being. The objectives was to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions on the mental health of working women, identify implementation challenges, and formulate recommendations for future research. This study is a systematic literature review (SLR) of 14 quantitative and qualitative studies published in indexed journals. Quality assessment was conducted using the JADAD Score, JBI Checklist, and MMAT according to the study design. Out of 2,400 articles identified through Scopus and Google Scholar databases, 14 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in this review. These studies employed various methodological designs, including RCTs (n=6), quasi-experimental (n=5), and observational or cross-sectional studies (n=3). Based on the assessment of effectiveness, mindfulness interventions were classified as highly effective (n=6), moderately effective (n=5), and less effective (n=3), depending on intervention protocol, intensity of participation, and institutional support. Structured protocol-based mindfulness interventions with facilitators (MBSR, MBCT, MAC) demonstrated the highest effectiveness compared to self-guided or trait-based interventions. The majority of studies indicated that protocol-based mindfulness interventions such as MBSR and MBCT effectively reduced stress, burnout, and anxiety, and enhanced self-compassion and psychological well-being. Main barriers included time constraints, participant retention, and methodological limitations. Mindfulness interventions are a promising strategy to support the mental health of working women.

Abstract

This study aims to create an instrument for measuring lust and validate the construct of lust measurement according to Al-Ghazali. In broad line, this research was carried out in two stages, namely (1) construction of a measuring instrument for nafs, and (2) field trials and evaluation of psychometric properties. The first stage produces 42 items that have been justified by 14 Subject Matter Experts (SME). In the second stage, by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) evaluation and through comparison of unidimensional and multidimensional models as well as through concurrent validity with a self-control scale based on data from 319 participants, a valid multidimensional model of lust measurement instrument was obtained and formed the dimensions of syahwat state, anger state, and spiritual reasoning. There are 13 valid items with a Likert model response 1-5 (Strongly Disagree - Strongly Agree). The results of the reliability estimation indicate that the lust measurement instrument has good consistency. Based on the results of additional analysis, namely the correlation with the Big Five personality traits, it also shows that personality traits have a relationship with individual lust.
