Abstract

This study challenges the dominant assumption that women in traditional societies are economically dependent, unproductive, and confined to domestic roles. Focusing on the Dayak Moslem women in Tangkahen village, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, this research aims to reveal a contrasting reality that defies such generalizations. Situated within the broader discourse on gender, labor, and work ethics, the study explores how socio-cultural and religious values influence women’s roles in sustaining family economies. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, prolonged observations, and documentary studies. Findings indicate that the women of Tangkahen perform dual roles—managing household duties while actively participating in income-generating activities such as farming, trading, and rubber tapping—without compromising their domestic responsibilities. These roles are deeply rooted in cultural, spiritual, and economic motivations      and are perceived not as burdens but as expressions of agency and social identity. The study concludes that women's work ethics in traditional societies are contingent upon embedded social norms, religious beliefs, and local gender constructs. Thus, the generalized negative perceptions about women's work ethics in traditional communities are not universally valid and must be reassessed through culturally grounded and context-sensitive inquiry.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the economic stability of informal workers, including motorbike taxi drivers, affecting not only their financial well-being but also their social and psychological resilience. This study examines the role of gender harmony in reinforcing family resilience among motorbike taxi drivers in the Ponorogo Regency during the crisis. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed within the framework of gender harmony theory. The findings reveal that gender harmony played a crucial role in mitigating economic, social, and psychological challenges. Families that adopted a dual-income model, allowing both spouses to contribute financially, exhibited greater economic resilience. Social resilience was fostered through cooperation in domestic and public roles, enhancing marital satisfaction. Psychological resilience was reinforced by effective communication, mutual support, and religious values that provided coping mechanisms during the crisis. However, gender inequality persisted in some families where women faced a double burden of financial and domestic responsibilities. These findings highlight the importance of gender-responsive strategies in strengthening family resilience amid crises. Future research should explore long-term implications of gender harmony on economic and psychological well-being in post-pandemic recovery.

Abstract

Child marriage has happened in several regions that apply a Patriarchal culture. It causes an increase in the Indonesian population. Besides, it also impacts when getting married at teenage age, such as the occurrence of domestic violence. It may be worst and may cause many deaths of children and mothers. In the concept of gender equality, the ideal marriage comes from the harmonious cooperation between husband and wife. Therefore, stopping child marriage is not easy. It is due to educational, social, economic, and cultural factors. This research uses a literature study with a qualitative approach that analyses the concept of feminist hermeneutics. The Qur'an does not directly mention the age limits for marriage, but An Nisa 'verse 6 gives a hint related to marriage. This research focuses on the comparative interpretation of the contextual male feminists’ criticism, namely KH. Husein Muhammad and KH. MA. Sahal Mahfud. The results of this research examine that child marriage according to KH. Husein Muhammad is still happening in society because of culture. Then, children should marry with the requirement that they have reached puberty and have mental and physical readiness in line with KH. Sahal Mahfudh suggestion revealed that mujbir's guardians might marry their children. However, it requires permission and approval from prospective adult women. It is very important because if the woman has no inner and outer consent, the marriage carried out will be very dangerous.

Abstract

Gender stereotypes in political discourse, particularly on social media, have intensified and become pivotal in shaping public perceptions and political engagement. Despite extensive scholarly efforts to examine gender and politics within online platforms, there remains a critical gap in systematically mapping the thematic and conceptual patterns across studies. This research aims to identify dominant trends, recurring stereotypes, and thematic clusters in gender-political discourses on social media. Adopting a qualitative systematic literature review approach, the study analyzes 89 peer-reviewed articles from the Scopus database (2012–2021), with a focus on the social sciences. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 Plus and VOSViewer to generate thematic classifications, density visualizations, and project maps. Key findings reveal an increasing prevalence of topics such as gender and sexuality, female leadership, anti-immigration narratives, and the politicization of identities, including Black, Muslim, and White women. These themes intersect with broader political narratives and reflect persistent digital gender biases. The study identifies three central conceptual propositions—gender, politics, and social media—as mutually reinforcing spheres of discourse. This review not only fills a critical scholarly gap but also contributes to the epistemological understanding of gendered political communication, offering foundational insights for future interdisciplinary inquiry and policy-oriented research.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the psychological dynamics in children's boarding schools, which focus on the problems of the psychological well-being of young students who are felt to be in the boarding school environment as well as the challenges of boarding schools in fulfilling the psychological well-being of students in the perspective of genderfriendly boarding schools. This research is qualitative research with the type of Field Research and uses a phenomenological paradigm. The research subjects were students of school age, namely 6-12 years. Through interviews, observation, and documentation, data was collected for both the santri and the caretakers of the boarding schools (kiai or nyai). Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model, through four steps, namely data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that there were still some conditions for students who experienced psychological turmoil during the adjustment period, such as homesickness, self-acceptance, difficulties in establishing social relations with other friends problems of independence, especially for low-class students and at the beginning of the boarding year. A gender-biased perspective was found in fulfilling children's rights in Islamic boarding schools, such as the assumption that looking after women is more difficult than men, women have to take extra care of themselves and their morals while men are labeled as difficult to manage, and tend to be naughty. Besides that, the fulfillment of nutrition and balanced nutrition is not found in Islamic boarding schools with the reason for developing the principle of zuhud (simplicity). This is what makes it a particular challenge for Islamic boarding schools to help the growth and personal development of students so that they feel comfortable and happy in the boarding school with all the activities and activities that bind students, both male and female students. This challenge is very important to be captured by pesantren managers such as forming child-friendly pesantren.
