Abstract

This study addresses the lack of a representative and modern public library facility in Gorontalo City, which is a strategic center for education, trade, and services. Despite its potential, the city's current public library is not widely known due to its non-strategic location, resulting in low public engagement. Therefore, there is a need for a new public library that is not only functional and easily accessible but also equipped with modern technology and a captivating design to attract more visitors. The research focuses on the planning and design of a public regional library using a Modern Architectural Concept. This concept is applied to create a building that is highly functional, aesthetically pleasing, and adaptable to the dynamic needs of an urban community. The design incorporates various supporting facilities, such as an outdoor reading garden, discussion rooms, and accessibility features for people with disabilities. An efficient circulation and utility system is also integrated to enhance comfort, safety, and overall appeal. The findings from the planning and analysis indicate that this design contributes significantly to improving the quality of literacy in the community. Furthermore, the project has the potential to become a new landmark for Gorontalo City, serving as a representative educational facility and public space. This research demonstrates how modern architectural principles can be used to create an attractive, accessible, and beneficial public institution that meets the community's needs and fosters a culture of reading and learning.

Abstract

This researched aimed to design and develop a low cost fish drying system using ESP32 integrated with temperature and humidity sensors as an appropriate technology solution for coastal communities. Traditional fish drying methods still rely on sunlight exposure, which is highly influenced by weather, produces inconsistent moisture levels, and increases the risk of contamination and microbial growth. To address these issues, this study proposes an Internet of Things (IoT) based controlled drying system capable of maintaining optimal temperature and humidity levels. The ESP32 microcontroller is utilized to collect sensor data in real time, control the heating element and ventilation system, and transmit drying information to a monitoring dashboard via Wi-Fi and a local OLED display. The results show that the proposed system can reduce drying duration and improve fish quality compared to traditional techniques, making it suitable as an appropriate technology for coastal communities.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media platforms such as TikTok has generated large volumes of unstructured user comments, particularly on local content that attracts substantial public attention, including Gorontalo-related videos. This situation requires efficient data-collection methods to support the systematic analysis of public responses. This study aims to develop a TikTok comment-scraping procedure by utilizing the Google Colab cloud platform integrated with the Apify scraping service and Python programming. This research employs an applied descriptive approach, which includes configuring the cloud environment, executing the TikTok Scraper Actor, extracting the scraping results in JSON format, converting them into CSV files, and validating the dataset using the Pandas library. The findings indicate that the procedure successfully extracted comments from two viral Gorontalo-themed TikTok videos and produced a structured dataset suitable for public-response analysis. Moreover, the use of Google Colab proved effective for conducting large-scale scraping without the limitations of local hardware. This study contributes a standardized, efficient, and easily replicable methodological model for social-media-based research in Indonesia.

Abstract

Gorontalo province holds significant tourism potential, but many of its sites, including Embung Hutadaa, suffer from poor facilities and a lack of proper planning, leading to a decline in their appeal. This study proposes to revitalize the Embung Hutadaa tourist area by applying an ecotourism architectural concept as a strategic solution. Through a qualitative case study and architectural analysis, the research identifies that while Embung Hutadaa possesses a beautiful natural landscape, its current condition is suboptimal. Therefore, a masterplan was developed based on three core principles: environmental conservation, education, and community participation. The proposed design includes a clear division of zones (public, semi-public, private), an eco-friendly circulation system, and supporting facilities like an education center, local MSME stalls, and conservation areas. The use of local materials such as wood and bamboo is also recommended to strengthen the architectural identity and promote sustainability. This revitalization project is expected to restore Embung Hutadaa's function as a leading and sustainable tourist destination. By revitalizing the area, it will not only boost regional tourism but also preserve the environment and provide long-term economic and social benefits for the local community.

Abstract

The development of higher education infrastructure, especially auditorium buildings, is now required not only to be functional and modern but also to reflect local identity as a form of responsibility toward local culture and environment. Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Gorontalo (UNUGO), as an educational institution based on Islamic values and local culture, requires a representative academic support facility. This study aims to design an auditorium building for UNUGO using an architectural regionalism approach, integrating functional aspects with the unique cultural, climatic, and local architectural context. This approach accommodates local elements—such as form, materials, and cultural symbolism—into a modern architectural design. The proposed design is expected to strengthen the campus's identity, support academic activities, and enrich the treasury of contextual and sustainable local architecture. The design of the UNUGO auditorium represents: 1) an inclusive deliberative space; 2) sustainable yet adaptive cultural symbols; 3) a climate- and human-friendly architecture; 4) a spiritual and intellectual hub; and 5) a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. This building is expected to become a campus architectural icon that not only accommodates activities but also conveys the narrative of the identity, values, and local spirit of the Gorontalo community within the framework of Nusantara Islam. Thus, the UNUGO auditorium will be a manifestation of contextual, sustainable, and meaningful architecture.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the adaptation of the Neo-Gothic architectural style in historical buildings from the Dutch East Indies era, focusing on the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Tomohon, North Sulawesi. Originally designed for local conditions and temperate climates, the application of Neo-Gothic architecture in non-European regions poses challenges related to thermal comfort, protection against high rainfall, and building material durability. The study will identify the adaptation strategies employed for this colonial church and analyse their impact on the building's style and spatial configuration. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed, incorporating visual observation, analysis of architectural elements, and a literature review concerning Neo-Gothic and Dutch East Indies architecture. The results show that the church buildings adapt to their surroundings through several main strategies: steeply sloping roofs and wide eaves in response to high rainfall; windows that open and close to allow cross ventilation; and façade materials and colours that reflect solar radiation. These strategies have been proven to improve passive thermal comfort without compromising the symbolic and aesthetic characteristics of the Neo-Gothic architectural style. This research confirms that adapting neo-Gothic architecture to its surroundings is not merely a technical compromise, but a process that produces a distinctive form that is aesthetically pleasing. These findings are expected to inform the development of building designs, particularly places of worship in high-altitude tropical regions prone to disasters. This is particularly relevant in the context of applying neo-Gothic architectural principles to non-European climates.

Abstract

PT ABC is a company engaged in material handling services, providing heavy equipment rental and maintenance services, with diesel forklifts constituting the majority of its operating units. The company currently operates 18 diesel forklift units in industrial activities, where equipment failure may significantly disrupt production processes, material distribution, and even increase occupational safety risks. This study aims to analyze the critical components of diesel forklifts and formulate proposed preventive maintenance actions using the integrated Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) methods. The initial stage involved identifying failure modes, evaluating Severity, Occurrence, and Detection, and calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN) to determine component priorities. The FMEA results identified the highest-priority critical components as the water pump, battery, engine mounting, and wheel cylinder. Furthermore, the FTA results revealed dominant root causes, including component aging, fluid quality degradation, charging system failures, uneven operating routes, and operator-induced shock loads. Based on the identified basic events, the proposed preventive maintenance actions include age-based component replacement, periodic fluid inspection, charging system checks, engine vibration monitoring, and operator training. These recommendations are expected to reduce failure frequency and improve the availability of forklift units.

Abstract

The development of the industrial world is experiencing intense competition in the current industrial era, both those engaged in the production and distribution of goods. For this reason, good distribution planning can ensure the availability of products needed by consumers. Without distribution, producers will find it difficult to market their products, and consumers will find it difficult to find the products they need. The research aims to plan distribution properly and efficiently. In this case, Distribution Requirement Planning plays a pivotal role for both integrated manufacturing distribution system and pure distribution system with the need for time phasing supply at each level of the distribution network. This research is classified as descriptive research or research whose main characteristics are providing objective explanation, comparison, and evaluation as material for making decision for authorities. The aim of descriptive research is to find an explanation for a fact or event that occurs, for example, condition or relationship that exists, opinion that develops, consequence or effect that occurs, or ongoing trend

Abstract

The abuse of narcotics and psychotropic substances in Gorontalo Province has shown a significant upward trend, with Gorontalo ranking 8th nationally in drug use in 2016. Despite fluctuations in the number of medical rehabilitation patients between 2016 and 2023, the existing inpatient facilities at Tombulilato Regional General Hospital are no longer sufficient to handle the complexity of cases across various age groups and backgrounds. This research aims to analyze spatial patterns and facilities while formulating the application of the Behavioral Architecture approach in designing a Narcotics and Psychotropic Rehabilitation Center in Gorontalo City. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including field observations in Molosipat W, literature reviews, and comparative studies. The Behavioral Architecture approach is applied as a design solution to create a built environment that is responsive to the psychological conditions and behaviors of the users. The design focus encompasses recreative, educative, therapeutic, and conservation aspects to support holistic physical and mental recovery. The results of this study produce a regional-scale rehabilitation center design that integrates medical and social rehabilitation units with creativity development facilities. Through strategic spatial configuration, color selection, and a strong connection with nature, this design is expected to restore self-confidence and social functioning, enabling individuals to return to society independently.
