Abstract

Basketball requires athletes to possess good physical conditioning, particularly aerobic and anaerobic endurance, to support high-intensity and repeated activities during a game. Therefore, assessing athletes’ physical condition is essential to evaluate their capabilities and to design appropriate training programs. This study aimed to determine the aerobic and anaerobic endurance profiles of male basketball athletes at Paradice Basketball Academy Surau Gading in 2025. This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a survey method through testing and measurement. The research subjects consisted of 10 athletes who completed all testing procedures. Anaerobic endurance was measured using the Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST), while aerobic endurance was assessed using the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) to estimate VO₂max values. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation. The results showed that 70% of the athletes were classified in the good category for anaerobic endurance (mean fatigue index = 7.42; SD = 3.94; min = 0.83; max = 12.33), while 50% of the athletes were categorized as moderate for aerobic endurance (mean VO₂max = 42.65; SD = 5.93; min = 33.2; max = 50.8). These findings indicate that although the athletes demonstrate relatively good anaerobic capacity, their aerobic endurance still needs improvement through a balanced training program.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the four-goal football drill on improving the passing stopping ability of athletes at the Lubuk Bendahara Football Academy. The research method used was quantitative comparative with a pre-test and post-test design. The research sample consisted of 20 athletes (N=20) at the Lubuk Bendahara Football Academy. Data was collected through measuring passing stopping ability and analyzed using a dependent t-test after fulfilling the prerequisite tests for normality (Sig. Shapiro-Wilk pre-test 0.064; post-test 0.057) and homogeneity (Sig. Levene Statistic 0.768). The results showed a significant improvement in the athletes' ability after the training intervention; the average ability score surged from 4.85 in the pre-test to 6.70 in the post-test. A clear shift in categories was also observed: in the pre-test, the majority of athletes (95%) were in the Poor and Adequate categories; however, in the post-test, no athletes remained in the Poor category, and the majority were distributed into the Good (55%) and Adequate (45%) categories. The t-test result obtained a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and a significant effect exists. This study concludes that the four-goal football drill has a significant and positive effect on improving passing stopping ability, making it an effective and recommended method as it integrates technical, tactical, and cognitive aspects.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate and analyze in detail the level of underhand serve ability in the volleyball game among students participating in the extra-curricular activities at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Pasir Utama, Rokan Hulu Regency. The underhand serve is a crucial basic technique used to initiate the first attack in a volleyball match. Based on preliminary observations, there were indications that many students had not yet mastered the basic technique of the underhand serve correctly and properly. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a survey approach. This method was chosen to capture and describe the real condition of the research subjects' skill levels without providing any intervention or treatment. The population of this study was all students who are members of the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School volleyball extra-curricular club. The data collection instrument was a volleyball underhand serve ability test, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The analysis results indicate that the level of volleyball underhand serve ability among the extra-curricular students at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School is distributed across various categories, with the majority of students falling into the Fair and Poor categories. The conclusion of this study is that the level of volleyball underhand serve ability among the extra-curricular students at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School still needs improvement. It is hoped that these analysis results can provide clear information and insight for the extra-curricular coach to design a more effective and targeted training program, focusing on the refinement of the basic underhand serve technique so that the students' abilities can increase significantly.

Abstract

VO₂Max is an important indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness that plays a significant role in supporting performance in football. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a survey design. The population of this study consisted of all grade VIII students who participated in the football extracurricular activity at MTs Bahrul Ulum, totaling 20 students. The sampling technique used was total sampling, meaning that all members of the population were included as research participants. The instrument used to measure VO₂Max was the Multi-Stage Fitness Test (MFT), also known as the Beep Test. The test results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency distribution. The results showed that the VO₂Max ability of students participating in the football extracurricular activity at MTs Bahrul Ulum was generally at a low level. The lowest recorded VO₂Max value was 24.00 and the highest was 42.90. The average (mean) value was 31.87 with a standard deviation of 5.74. Based on the frequency distribution, the majority of students were categorized as Poor and Fair. Specifically, 50% of students (10 individuals) were in the Poor category and 30% of students (6 individuals) were in the Fair category. The study concluded that the VO₂Max capacity of MTs Bahrul Ulum football extracurricular students is at a low level, indicating that their cardiorespiratory fitness still needs improvement to achieve optimal performance and long-term health benefits. Therefore, it is recommended that more structured and specific training programs be implemented to improve VO₂Max.

Abstract

Objectives: This systematic literature review examines how the concepts of 'unlearning and relearning' (Goodwin) can be reconceptualized as a new epistemological framework for the indigenization of educational policies in developing nations during the period 2000–2026, and how this framework can address the gap between global policy borrowing and meaningful local implementation. Methods: A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases (Scopus, ERIC, Web of Science) using keywords related to policy transfer, indigenization, unlearning, educational reform, and developing nations. The review synthesized 86 peer-reviewed sources published between 2000 and 2026, following PRISMA guidelines. Thematic analysis identified patterns in how developing countries conceptualize, implement, and adapt educational policies borrowed from global high-performing education systems. Findings: The literature reveals a critical paradox: while developing nations eagerly adopt policies from high-performing education systems (HPES), insiders within these systems consistently question their own effectiveness and doubt the transferability of their approaches. The concept of unlearning—strategic abandonment of ineffective policies regardless of their prestige—emerged as a crucial but underexplored dimension of meaningful policy indigenization. Three typologies of indigenization approaches were identified: (1) surface adaptation (cosmetic changes without substantive transformation), (2) systematic alignment (coherence across teacher education, curriculum, and classroom practice), and (3) epistemological reconstruction (redefining core educational values according to local contexts and knowledge systems). Developing nations in Southeast Asia demonstrated the greatest success when combining systematic alignment with epistemological reconstruction, supported by sustained political will and capacity building. Conclusion: The unlearning-relearning paradigm offers developing nations a theoretically grounded and empirically supported framework for moving beyond mere policy borrowing toward authentic indigenization. Rather than perpetually chasing international benchmarks, this approach enables countries to critically evaluate borrowed policies, abandon what proves ineffective in their context, and revitalize local knowledge systems in educational practices.
