Abstract

The increasing signs of moral degradation among students indicate that the educational process has not yet fully succeeded in shaping character as a real behavioral orientation. Character education should not be understood merely as the transmission of normative values, but must be positioned as a continuous process of internalizing the values of truth and goodness. This study aims to analyze the role of the values of truth and goodness in shaping students’ morals and character through the educational process. The research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method of national and international scholarly publications, books, and relevant policy documents published within the last ten years. The findings show that the effectiveness of character education is largely determined by the integration of moral knowledge, moral sensitivity, and moral action. The values of truth and goodness function as ethical foundations that guide character formation; however, their implementation remains constrained by cognitively oriented learning practices and the challenges of digital culture. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to character education through role modeling, habituation, and collaboration among schools, families, and communities.

Abstract

Paradigms in the philosophy of science play a crucial role in shaping perspectives on the nature of knowledge, the sources of truth, and the methods for acquiring scientific understanding. This study examines five major paradigms in the philosophy of science—positivism, rationalism, empiricism, critical philosophy (criticism), and constructivism—with the aim of understanding their fundamental differences and points of convergence. Positivism emphasizes objective empirical observation; rationalism highlights the role of reason in shaping knowledge; while empiricism regards sensory experience as the primary source of knowledge. Critical philosophy, as a synthesis of rationalism and empiricism, asserts that knowledge results from the combination of reason and experience. Meanwhile, constructivism views knowledge as an active construction by individuals within a social and subjective experiential context. This study shows that understanding these various paradigms is essential for developing a holistic and critical scientific framework.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the values of science from the perspective of the philosophy of science, including epistemological, ethical and moral, pragmatic, aesthetic, socio-cultural, economic, and philosophical values. This study employs a library research method by reviewing relevant literature such as books, academic journals, and scholarly works related to the philosophy of science and axiology. The findings indicate that these values are interconnected and form an integrated framework in the development and application of scientific knowledge. Epistemological values ensure the validity of knowledge, ethical and moral values guide scientific responsibility, pragmatic values emphasize usefulness, aesthetic values enhance communication and clarity, socio-cultural values ensure social relevance, economic values contribute to welfare, and philosophical values provide meaning and direction for science. Therefore, integrating scientific values is essential for fostering a knowledgeable, ethical, and sustainable human civilization.

Abstract

Since ancient times, philosophy has been recognized as the mother of all sciences because it serves as the foundation for rational, systematic, and critical thinking in understanding reality. Philosophy arises from human curiosity about oneself, nature, and God, seeking answers to fundamental questions about truth and the meaning of life. Through its development, philosophy has given birth to several branches of knowledge, including ontology (the nature of being), epistemology (the sources and methods of knowledge), and axiology (the values and purposes of knowledge). Great thinkers such as Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle have contributed to shaping philosophical thought that underlies modern science. In practice, philosophy functions to develop critical and reflective thinking, cultivate wisdom, and provide ethical foundations for various aspects of life such as education, social and political systems, science, and religion. By understanding philosophy, humans are able to structure their thinking logically and use knowledge as a means to pursue truth and virtue.
