Abstract

General Background: Improving learning outcomes in elementary education remains a central priority for developing students’ academic competence and character formation. Specific Background: In Pancasila Education classes at Singogalih State Elementary School, many fourth-grade students showed low achievement and passive participation under conventional teacher-centered instruction. Knowledge Gap: Limited classroom-based evidence exists on how Self-Directed Learning (SDL) can address low mastery levels in primary civic education contexts. Aims: This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes through the implementation of the Self-Directed Learning model. Results: Using Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, the percentage of students meeting the Minimum Completion Criteria increased from 30.43% in the pre-cycle to 56.52% in Cycle I and 91.30% in Cycle II, accompanied by higher student activity, motivation, and deeper understanding of the material. Novelty: The study demonstrates a structured application of SDL in elementary Pancasila Education with measurable classroom-level gains across iterative cycles. Implications: The findings indicate that student-centered autonomous learning can serve as a practical instructional alternative for primary schools seeking to raise achievement while fostering independence and critical thinking skills. Highlights: Mastery rates rose from less than one-third of the class to over nine-tenths after two cycles. Learners became more active, motivated, and engaged during instruction. Autonomous goal setting and self-evaluation supported deeper content comprehension. Abstract

This study examines cosplay practices, particularly crossplay, within contemporary popular culture. General Background: Cosplay is a performative cultural practice where individuals embody fictional characters through costume, gesture, and roleplay. Specific Background: In Indonesian society, gender is shaped by patriarchal norms and binary constructions of masculinity and femininity, often generating resistance toward cross-gender performance. Knowledge Gap: Limited research conceptualizes crossplay as a systematic deconstruction of gender stereotypes grounded in Judith Butler’s performativity and Jacques Derrida’s deconstruction. Aims: This study explores how cosplay and crossplay renegotiate gender meaning beyond biological determinism. Results: Using a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews involving ten active participants, findings show that crossplay enables identity negotiation, coping with social pressures, skill development, and reinterpretation of gender as fluid and context-dependent. Despite offline stigma, digital platforms provide more inclusive spaces for expression and community support. Novelty: The study integrates performativity and deconstruction to frame crossplay as a symbolic practice that destabilizes binary gender oppositions. Implications: Cosplay represents a cultural arena that rearticulates gender stereotypes and broadens scholarly discourse on gender fluidity within cultural communication studies. Highlights: Participants Reinterpret Masculinity and Femininity Through Symbolic Performance and Role Immersion. Digital Platforms Create Supportive Arenas Compared to Offline Societal Reactions. Role-Playing Practices Facilitate Identity Negotiation and Resistance to Patriarchal Expectations. Keywords: Cosplay, Crossplay, Gender Stereotypes, Performativity, Deconstruction

Abstract

General Background: Pregnancy induces profound physiological changes in the hemostasis system, balancing procoagulant and fibrinolytic mechanisms to ensure maternal and fetal survival. Specific Background: Preeclampsia disrupts this balance, leading to hypercoagulation, endothelial dysfunction, and compromised placental circulation. Knowledge Gap: Despite numerous studies, the specific patterns of coagulation system alterations and their diagnostic value in preeclampsia remain incompletely characterized. Aims: This article aims to analyze the dynamic changes in coagulation and fibrinolysis during normal pregnancy and to compare them with the pathological shifts occurring in preeclampsia. Results: Findings demonstrate increased procoagulant activity, elevated D-dimer levels, reduced fibrinolysis, and decreased antithrombin III activity in preeclampsia. These changes contribute to placental insufficiency, fetal growth restriction, and heightened maternal risk of thrombohemorrhagic complications. Novelty: The study highlights the prognostic importance of D-dimer levels and platelet indices as accessible markers to monitor hemostasis dysfunction in preeclampsia. Implications: Early identification of coagulation markers offers prospects for improving diagnostic precision, guiding therapeutic strategies, and preventing severe maternal-fetal complications in preeclampsia. Highlight: Altered coagulation and fibrinolysis in preeclampsia drive maternal and fetal risks. D-dimer and platelet indices emerge as practical prognostic markers. Early detection of hemostasis dysfunction enables better clinical outcomes. Keywords: Preeclampsia, Coagulation Cascade, Fibrinolysis, D-Dimer, Hemostasis

Abstract

General Background Writing skills constitute a foundational component of literacy development in early elementary education and are closely associated with students’ overall academic progress. Specific Background At ages 7–8, children are in the concrete operational stage, during which logical thinking and basic writing abilities develop rapidly, yet many second-grade students still experience difficulties in handwriting, sentence construction, and written expression. Knowledge Gap Despite the recognized importance of motivation in learning, limited qualitative evidence explains how intrinsic motivation relates specifically to early writing performance in lower-grade elementary students. Aims This study aims to analyze learning motivation from the perspective of writing skills among second-grade students at SDN Sumput Sidoarjo. Results Using a qualitative case study with observations, interviews, and documentation triangulated descriptively, findings indicate that students with high intrinsic motivation demonstrate more fluent, neat, and consistent writing, whereas those with low motivation struggle with letter formation, organization, punctuation, capitalization, and idea development. Novelty The study provides an in-depth, contextual description linking intrinsic motivational characteristics—interest, desire, and independence—to specific mechanical and compositional aspects of early writing. Implications These findings suggest that teachers and parents should cultivate students’ interest and autonomy in writing activities to support foundational literacy development in primary education. Highlights: Learners with stronger internal drive produced smoother and more orderly handwriting. Mechanical errors such as spacing, punctuation, and capitalization remained common among less engaged pupils. Idea expansion was limited, with most children producing only short, simple sentences. Abstract

General Background Early childhood literacy is a fundamental domain of development that supports children’s readiness for formal schooling and lifelong learning. Specific Background In Indonesia, concerns over low reading interest highlight the need for engaging literacy initiatives within early childhood education settings, particularly those grounded in developmentally appropriate practices. Knowledge Gap Despite the emergence of school-based literacy movements, limited qualitative evidence exists regarding how structured, play-based programmes operate in practice and how they relate to children’s observable literacy achievements. Aims This study analyzes the implementation of the GALERIA programme (Gerakan Literasi Bhayangkari Ceria) and examines the literacy skills of children aged 5–6 years at Kemala Bhayangkari 83 Sidoarjo Kindergarten. Results Using observations, interviews, and documentation, the findings show that regular activities—storytelling with puppets, personal storytelling, word-guessing games, shared reading, and role-play—stimulated three key domains: language comprehension, language expression, and emergent literacy, with most children demonstrating high achievement across these indicators. Novelty The study documents a school-initiated, participatory literacy movement structured around weekly peak events and daily classroom practices, offering a contextualized model of play-based literacy programming. Implications The programme provides a practical framework for cultivating early literacy culture in kindergartens and may inform similar initiatives in other early childhood institutions seeking developmentally appropriate literacy practices.Highlights: Weekly storytelling and interactive games supported strong comprehension of narratives and instructions. Children demonstrated confident verbal communication, including retelling stories and creating simple books. Visual word cards and picture books enabled recognition of letters, sounds, and basic writing skills. Abstract

General Background: Education plays a pivotal role in shaping human resources and national development, requiring systematic planning and management to ensure quality improvement. Specific Background: In Ponorogo Regency, although more than 1,700 educational institutions exist, many schools and madrasahs have not fully utilized the School/Madrasah Work Plan (RKSM) as a strategic instrument, often perceiving it merely as administrative compliance. Knowledge Gap: This limited understanding and inconsistent implementation of RKSM hinder efforts to elevate educational quality standards, highlighting the need for capacity-building programs. Aims: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of training based on the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach in enhancing educators’ competence in preparing RKSM. Results: A pre-test and post-test comparison revealed a significant improvement, with mean scores increasing from 43.33 to 74.17, supported by t-test analysis showing high statistical significance (p < 0.005). Novelty: Unlike conventional approaches, the use of the ABCD framework emphasizes local assets—teachers, facilities, and community support—transforming planning into a participatory and contextually relevant process. Implications: The findings confirm that ABCD-based training strengthens educational planning, fosters collaboration among stakeholders, and contributes to sustainable quality enhancement in schools and madrasahs across Ponorogo. Highlights: Training with the ABCD approach significantly improved educators’ planning skills. Pre-test to post-test scores rose from 43.33 to 74.17 with strong significance.
