Abstract

Religious plurality in the era of globalization is a necessity in the midst of cultural heterogeneity, religious expression and religion itself. Religious plurality has a very large potential and role in the process of integrating the development of the Indonesian nation in the future. However, on the other hand, religious plurality contains the potential for conflict and disintegration of the nation, because the dominance of the absolute truth claims of each religion so that emotions become the basis of interaction and communication. Therefore, communication becomes a pillar of religious harmony. To achieve religious harmony, this research uses a qualitative-descriptive method that puts with Niklas Luhmann theory of communication. The results obtained in this study are communication with Lumann view is a social system based on action (activity) using communication tools and attribution as a reduction of the complexity of public trust. This Luhmann style action communication is very important to be applied to the Surabaya urban community in order to create harmony between religious communities. Therefore, the inter-religious community in the urban area of ​​Surabaya builds communication with various models, namely Interpersonal Communication, group communication, Organizational or Institutional communication and cultural communication. This communication model is seen in the daily lives of urban Surabaya communities to foster harmony between religious communities. All of these communication models are supported by mutual respect, mutual acceptance of differences and a culture of mutual cooperation.

Abstract

The Development of communication science in increasingly dynamic. The phenomena of health communication studies, tourism communication, corruption communication, for example, strengthen the position of communication science. The study tried to explain pesantren communication as a new study in communication studies. This paper examined through a qualitatif descriptive approach with a literature study that focussed on two important aspect, namely communication and Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren). The study of communication has a dimension to analysis reality based on messages or symbols displayed in human interaction, like on Islamic boarding school community. Beside that, Islamic boarding schools community showed many messages to interpreted by communition study. The result of this study indicated that communication has the ability to interpreted many symbols or message on Islamic boarding community. And, Islamic boarding school as social change institution displays symbol or message that must be studied by communication studies. Pesantren communication can be categorized into a new variant in communication studies.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the communication model of Deaf community in SLB Negeri Jember. The limitation of function of hearing sense system makes an influence on optimalizing human communication tool as verbal language in line with negative implication to the development of intelectuality, emotion, personality, social life, and another aspects. The difficulty to articulate their feeling, thought, and experience is caused by minimum vocabs they acquired. So, it makes them simplifying the utterances, actually with various different meaning for normal people (red: orally cultured-people). The fatal mistakes in understanding the meaning of utterances are able to make a wrong perception on the intention and the goal of using them. The mistakes in positioning communication elements in the society culture are going to make the communication failure in result, moreover, to arise conflict and violance. This research used a case study. Data were collected using documentation method and interviews. The data analysis is done through descriptive data and content analysis.

Abstract

Films have become an audio-visual communication medium that is familiar to all people of all ages and social backgrounds. The strength and ability of films in reaching many social segments then makes experts that films have the potential to influence audiences. The content of the film itself can consist of various themes, two of which are about race and religion. Like the film Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika. After this film aired, there were pros and cons to the message in the film. Because Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika, America emphasizes more on contemporary Islamic issues that are currently in the spotlight of the world, including Islamophobia. The film, Moon Split in the American Sky, presents Islamophobia as a form of Western ignorance of Islam. This film shows the treatment of American society which denigrates Islam, such as attitudes of religious intolerance, suspicion and hatred towards Muslims and anti-pluralism towards other teachings.Therefore, from several studies on films that discuss racial and religious backgrounds, there must be conflicts based on the different knowledge and experiences that each individual has, so the researcher tries to do reception research that will get the results of the subject. what is examined is that the audience accepts, rejects, or does not fully accept and reject the problem that is given. By using a qualitative approach, researchers chose to conduct research in Jember Regency. As a result, of the four youths studied, namely the Muhammadiyah Youth, IPNU / Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association, the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement and the Catholic Youth Movement, and the four had the same results. Where the four of them are in the dominant hegemonic or receive messages in the film Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika.

Abstract

Radicalism often becomes a terrifying and unsettling threat to society due to its religious ideology that is no longer contextual. Religious study circles (*halaqoh*) are conducted by preachers and lecturers who hold extreme views and apply rigid normative religious laws (texts) to current social and political conditions. In spreading radical doctrines, university students are typically the primary targets, as they are considered capable of carrying out the mission. This journal focuses on two main issues: the communication strategies employed by IAIN Jember’s campus organization to counter radicalism, and the role of organizational communication in this effort. The methodology of this study is qualitative descriptive, based on both literature review and field research. It aims to understand the conditions or phenomena experienced by the subjects and describes them using scientific language. The research findings show that IAIN Jember has taken significant and serious steps to combat radicalism, such as organizing seminars with themes related to the dangers of radical ideologies. These initiatives represent the campus's proactive communication strategy to foster awareness and resilience among students.

Abstract

Kyai is someone who is an expert in Islam, both mastering the science of fiqh, monotheism and other religious sciences and has high personality integrity, has noble character and is influential in society. Kyai have many faces that reflect the complexity or diversity of the views of the kyai in politics. As an informal leader, the kiai is a person who is believed by the community to have enormous and charismatic authority. The focus of the problem in this study include the following: first, how is the urgency of the kyai's da'wah in making policies to create religious jember. secondly, what are the supporting factors and obstacles to the urgency of the kyai's da'wah in making policies to create a religious jember. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research belonging to Cresswell which uses a purposive subject selection method and data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. In analyzing the data the author uses data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this study can be concluded that the urgency of the kyai's da'wah in taking policies to create religious jembers include: (1) Internal-personal by activating activities in taklim assemblies such as: mujahadah, and recitation of Tuesday pon, managing the Al-Qur'an Education Park , and the Commemoration of Islamic Holidays. (2) External-institutional by managing non-formal education, so that it is beneficial for development and closer social relations, and plays a role in the taklim assembly in the Jember community. (3) The Kyai's Da'wah Strategy is very significant, his da'wah activities are successful in teaching Islamic religious sciences from the various ways of da'wah that he does

Abstract

Student-based Islamic boarding schools (pesantren mahasiswa) have a unique communication model in preserving moral values, which can be analyzed using Lasswell's communication model. Al-Husna Islamic Boarding School in Jember is one such pesantren mahasiswa that accommodates a significant number of students from various universities in the Jember area. This qualitative research, using a phenomenological approach, reveals that the communication model employed by the pesantren to maintain moral values is implemented through specific rules and routine activities within the boarding school. These include the practice of five daily congregational prayers, the study of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) after dawn prayer, diniyah classes, mandatory permission before leaving the boarding school, compliance with the pesantren dress code, and the commemoration of Islamic holidays (PHBI). However, there are several challenges in maintaining this communication model. The increasing number of students has led to reduced effectiveness of the implemented rules and activities. Additionally, the students’ busy academic lives outside the pesantren, the feelings of boredom among senior students leading to a lack of enthusiasm in participating in activities, and the adaptation difficulties experienced by new students all contribute to the obstacles in upholding the pesantren’s moral standards.

Abstract

Abstract This article discusses the roles and challenges of Indonesian youth in front of political currents and global dynamics. Youth as an important asset of the nation in its future sustainability, including for Indonesia which has a dominant youth population, is an important capital for nation building. The world of mass media (printed and online) which is developing massively, is free to be filled by any group (party) whether with positive interests or even those with bad intentions. Therefore, the role of youth becomes central in rejecting negative media propaganda and within the framework of spreading the values ​​of moderation. The existence of youth can be present by coloring the media and filling it with various positive agendas. This article concludes that Indonesian youth in the process of building and advancing the nation are valuable assets that must be empowered as part of a solution that puts forward the values ​​of national moderation and other values ​​of the Indonesian nation has. Abstract

Abstrac: Education is one of the most important things in human life, the purpose of education is a change towards good quality. This is one indication that education runs dynamically. The existence of a pandemic has also forced the role of education policy makers to create a new strategy in the teaching and learning process, one of which is given a solution to learn in a bold way. So there are several applications that can be used for communication in bold learning. This study uses an approach in this study using a qualitative descriptive approach using a more detailed approach, namely phenomenology. The results obtained from this study are that communication application users are indeed very strong, especially in the Aplikasi Rumah Belajar (ARB) accessible Sumber Belajar they get the following data: 2,767,9012, Kelas Digital 5,409,919, Laboratotium Maya 297,020, and for Bank Soal as many as 8,765,200.

Abstract

Online media into the media to convey information to the public. Speed ​​in conveying news faster makes it a distinct advantage. An example of the attack on an intolerant group at the Midodareni event in Solo. This incident adds to the bad record of intolerance in Indonesia, which should uphold the values ​​of diversity. In fact, this incident aroused empathy and angered many parties, such as Governor Ganjar Pranowo, Alissa Wahid, the first daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid, Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi and Komnas HAM. In this event, such as cnnindonesia.com and kompas.com as media online international and national which also published news about the attack on intolerant groups at the Midodareni event in Solo. In this study, the researcher used the analysis method of framing the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M Kosicki model with 4 structural dimensions of the news text as adevice, framing namely syntax, script, thematic and rhetorical. This method is used to see how a media constructs reality, and how events are understood and framed by the media. As a result, cnnindonesia.com and kompas.com when reporting on the case by emphasizing several aspects, namely the selection of news sources such as authorities, quotes from news sources, news completeness standards, statements or opinions, and images used to support the structure framing.
