Abstract

This study aims to analyze the redefinition of graduation exams and the role of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) within the education system. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach by examining policies and concepts proposed by Prof. Muti regarding the shift in the graduation exam paradigm. The main findings indicate that graduation exams are no longer the sole determinant of student graduation. Instead, graduation is determined by schools based on various aspects of student development, including character and social engagement. Although the TKA is not mandatory, it serves as an indicator of academic ability for further studies and as a component of the achievement track, alongside report card grades and other accomplishments. The implication of this research is the promotion of a growth mindset approach in education, shifting the focus from short-term achievements to students’ continuous development, while fostering optimism and the motivation to keep improving. This policy also promotes holistic assessment that considers academic intelligence, leadership, and social awareness. The originality of this study lies in its comprehensive analysis of the paradigm shift in graduation exams, emphasizing student-centered development beyond mere academic outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the foundational concepts of educational psychology through the lens of Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism learning theories. The research employs a library research method, collecting and analyzing relevant literature from various sources. This theory focuses on observable behavior resulting from environmental stimulus and response. Key figures include Skinner, Watson, and Thorndike. Learning, in this view, happens through repetition, reinforcement (positive/negative), and consequences. The primary criticism of behaviorism is its limited attention to internal mental processes, often depicting learners as passive recipients. This approach emphasizes internal mental processes such as thinking and understanding. Theorists like Piaget, Bruner, Ausubel, and Gagne propose that learning involves changes in mental structures. It's crucial for educators to align teaching methods with students' developmental stages and foster deep understanding (insight). This theory suggests that students construct their own knowledge through direct experience and social interaction. Vygotsky is a prominent figure, known for concepts like the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and Scaffolding, which highlight the importance of guidance and collaboration in learning.   In essence, Behaviorism centers on external responses, Cognitivism on thought processing, and Constructivism on actively building knowledge through interaction. Understanding these three theories helps teachers create effective learning experiences. This research contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations of educational psychology and their implications for teaching practices.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia today still relies on monotonous learning methods, particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) classes. This condition leads to low student motivation in learning. This study discusses Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences in the context of PAI learning. The objectives of this research are: 1) To explain the background of the emergence of the Multiple Intelligences theory. 2) To explain its application in Islamic Religious Education learning. 3) To explain the types of intelligences according to Howard Gardner. This research employs a library method with a descriptive-analytical approach and content analysis techniques. The findings show that every child possesses nine types of intelligence, such as linguistic, logical, bodily-kinesthetic, social, emotional, and spiritual intelligence. Teachers are therefore required to be creative in applying various learning strategies that correspond to students’ intelligences.

Abstract

This study examines the teaching of reading, writing, and arithmetic (Calistung) in the early grades of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) as a fundamental foundation for literacy and numeracy mastery. The objectives of this research are to explain the basic principles of effective Calistung instruction, to describe appropriate teaching methods, and to analyze the roles of teachers and parents in supporting successful learning. The theoretical framework highlights several principles, namely gradual and continuous learning, a concrete-to-abstract approach, student-centered strategies, and the integration of Islamic values. Relevant teaching methods include the phonetic method, syllabic method, play-based learning, contextual learning, and multisensory approaches. The findings emphasize that students in early MI grades are still in the concrete operational stage; thus, the use of tangible media and enjoyable activities proves more effective in enhancing comprehension. Furthermore, parental involvement in providing consistent learning practices at home serves as a crucial factor that reinforces students’ achievements at school. Therefore, effective Calistung learning in MI requires teachers’ creativity in combining various methods and strong collaboration between school and family to support the development of children’s literacy and numeracy skills.

Abstract

This study examines the theological and normative foundations of Islamic education as the primary basis for developing a holistic and adaptive educational system. Islamic education is viewed as a process of forming insan kamil (the complete human being), characterized by a balance between spiritual, moral, and intellectual dimensions, aimed at fostering closeness to Allah SWT and developing individual potential in both worldly and hereafter contexts. The normative foundation integrates Islamic ethical and moral values into the curriculum, aligning them with social values and the state constitution, such as Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, in order to cultivate responsible and well-characterized citizens.   This research employs a qualitative method using a literature review and critical analysis to evaluate the implementation and relevance of theological and normative foundations in contemporary Islamic education. The findings highlight the importance of developing a holistic curriculum that integrates spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social aspects, as well as implementing learning methods that are responsive to technological advancements and social dynamics. Islamic education needs to synergize with various stakeholders to address global challenges and to produce a generation that excels academically while also possessing moderate and tolerant character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the goals and principles of Islamic education in the context of shaping insan kamil (the perfect human being) in the modern era, which is characterized by technological advancement, globalization, and shifting social values. Islamic education is not merely concerned with intellectual development but also emphasizes the harmonious cultivation of spiritual, moral, and social dimensions based on the Qur’an and Hadith. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and conceptual analysis of classical and contemporary sources, this study finds that the primary goal of Islamic education is to form individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and virtuous, capable of contributing to modern civilization without losing their Islamic identity. The fundamental principles of Islamic education—namely tawhid (monotheism), balance, responsible freedom, and public benefit—serve as philosophical foundations in responding to the challenges of modernization and secularization. The findings indicate that shaping insan kamil in the modern era requires a reconstruction of the Islamic educational paradigm toward an integrative model that promotes character development, digital literacy, and social ethics grounded in Islamic values. Thus, Islamic education is expected to produce globally competent individuals who remain committed to transcendental principles.

Abstract

This study aims to philosophically analyze the nature, objectives, and principles of Islamic education from the perspective of the Qur’an and Sunnah. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by examining various relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that Islamic education is a holistic process oriented toward developing human innate potential (fitrah) in a balanced manner, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, and moral dimensions. The primary goal of Islamic education is to form insan kamil (the perfect human), characterized by the integration of faith, knowledge, and action, as well as the ability to fulfill the roles of servant of God and vicegerent on earth. The principles of Islamic education are grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah and are implemented through an integrated approach that includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Furthermore, Islamic education is required to adapt to contemporary developments without losing its fundamental values. Therefore, Islamic education functions not only as a means of knowledge transfer but also as a value system that shapes the character and morality of learners comprehensively.
