Abstract

The environmental crisis is a social, ethical, and ecological issue that requires a multidimensional approach, including a religious perspective. Previous studies have shown that Islamic values can contribute to the development of environmental ethics through the concepts of Eco-Islam and khalifah, as well as through the integration of religious values with community-based conservation practices. However, studies that specifically connect ecological values in Prophetic hadith with the concept of khalifah and examine their relevance to contemporary social life remain underdeveloped. This study aims to analyze ecological values in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad and examine the concept of khalifah as an ethical foundation for environmental responsibility from an Islamic ecotheological perspective. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, hadith collections, Qur’anic commentaries and hadith commentaries, fatwas issued by the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), as well as relevant books, journal articles, and previous studies. The data were analyzed using qualitative thematic content analysis by identifying the concepts of tauhid, khalifah, amanah, mizan, maslahah, fasad, israf, conservation, and concern for living beings. The findings indicate that the Prophetic hadith contains ecological values emphasizing respect for life, care for plants and animals, responsible and non-excessive use of natural resources, and the prohibition of actions that cause environmental harm. The concept of * khalifah positions human beings as trustees responsible for managing and preserving the earth while maintaining ecological balance and considering intergenerational sustainability. In the Indonesian context, these values are also reflected in several MUI fatwas addressing environmentally responsible mining, wildlife conservation, and global climate change mitigation and control. These findings suggest that Islamic ecotheology has the potential to serve as an ethical framework that complements regulatory, technical, and scientific approaches to environmental management. Its implementation is recommended through Islamic education, environmentally friendly pesantren and mosques, digital religious outreach, strengthened ecological literacy, and collaboration among religious institutions, communities, government, and environmental organizations. Further empirical research is needed to examine how these values are internalized and translated into actual environmental behavior among Muslim communities.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the relationship between humility and community formation through a synthesis of various theoretical perspectives in psychology, sociology, and organizational behavior. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing upon scholarly works that discuss humility, social connectedness, and community dynamics. The findings indicate that humility functions as a psychological mechanism that shifts individuals from self-oriented concerns toward an orientation centered on others, thereby fostering trust, cooperation, and social capital within communities. Cross-theoretical analysis suggests that humility is associated with higher levels of moral development and human motivation, characterized by an individual's capacity to transcend personal interests for the common good. In organizational contexts, humility contributes to the emergence of inclusive leadership, the development of psychologically safe environments, and stronger team cohesion. This study offers a conceptual framework for character-based community development that may serve as a foundation for future empirical research as well as the advancement of organizational and community practices aimed at long-term sustainability

Abstract

Corruption is one of the serious problems that hinders development, social justice, political stability, and public trust in state institutions. Previous studies have shown that law enforcement against corruption in Indonesia continues to face various challenges, including political influence on sentencing, disproportionality between sanctions and state losses, weak coordination among law enforcement institutions, and limited institutional independence. Comparative studies have also indicated that the independence of anti-corruption institutions, judicial credibility, governance quality, and public participation are important factors in improving the effectiveness of corruption eradication. Based on these issues, this study aims to analyze and compare criminal sanctions for corruption offenses in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore and to identify factors influencing law enforcement effectiveness and the deterrent effect of criminal sanctions. This study employs a qualitative method with a comparative legal approach. Data were obtained through a systematic literature review of scientific journals, books, legislation, government reports, and publications from international organizations, complemented by semi-structured interviews with legal experts and practitioners. The data were analyzed thematically and comparatively based on legal frameworks, types of sanctions, sentencing patterns, institutional arrangements, law enforcement processes, and socio-political factors. Data validity was strengthened through source triangulation. The findings reveal differences in the effectiveness of anti-corruption law enforcement among the three countries. Indonesia has a relatively comprehensive legal framework; however, its implementation continues to face challenges, including political intervention, weak institutional independence, sentencing inconsistencies, limited resources, low asset recovery, and limited public participation. In contrast, Singapore demonstrates stronger law enforcement effectiveness through the independence of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), relatively efficient judicial processes, consistent application of sanctions, and stronger reporting and whistleblower protection mechanisms. Malaysia has made progress in anti-corruption governance but continues to face challenges related to institutional independence and political influence. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of criminal sanctions is determined not only by the severity of punishment but also by the independence of law enforcement institutions, judicial integrity, sentencing consistency, asset recovery, social norms, and public participation. Therefore, strengthening institutional independence, reforming the judiciary, promoting anti-corruption education, improving asset recovery mechanisms, and enhancing international cooperation are necessary to strengthen the effectiveness of corruption eradication in Indonesia.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) constitute an important component of community economic activities. Although micro-enterprises operate on a relatively small scale, financial management remains an essential factor in determining business sustainability and growth. Common problems faced by micro-enterprise owners include inadequate financial record-keeping, the mixing of business and personal finances, limited access to capital, and a low level of understanding of Islamic financial principles. From an Islamic perspective, economic activities should not be solely profit-oriented but must also consider the aspects of permissibility (halal), justice, honesty, trustworthiness, and blessings (barokah). This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic financial management in micro-enterprises and to identify Islamic principles that can be applied to business financial management. This study employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative method, using a literature review as the primary data source. Data were obtained from scientific journals, books, regulations, publications issued by the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK), and fatwas issued by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian (Dewan Syariah Nasional–Majelis Ulama Indonesia/DSN-MUI). The data analysis technique involved the collection, selection, interpretation, and analysis of relevant literature sources. The findings indicate that the implementation of Islamic financial management in micro-enterprises can be carried out through financial planning, recording income and expenses, separating business and personal finances, managing capital in accordance with halal principles, determining fair prices, managing profits, and avoiding riba (usury/interest), gharar (excessive uncertainty), maysir (gambling), fraud, and business practices that cause harm. The application of these principles can help micro-enterprise owners improve financial management discipline, maintain business sustainability, and conduct economic activities in accordance with Islamic values.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the sociology of law and psychological mechanisms underlying the appeal of transgressive leaders, namely leaders who violate norms of fairness, honesty, and propriety but may nevertheless gain public support under certain conditions. It also identifies conceptual implications for addressing such appeal. This study employs a library research method using a descriptive qualitative approach, content analysis, and narrative synthesis of literature in social and political psychology. The primary conceptual source is Van Kleef’s (2025) framework, supplemented by empirical studies on moral judgment, norm violations, power perception, dominance, conflict, threat, and leadership. The findings indicate that the appeal of transgressive leaders can be understood through three interrelated mechanisms. First, moral judgment is contextual and influenced by group identity, interests, and the goals of observers. Second, norm violations can, under certain conditions, be perceived as signals of power and dominance, particularly when such violations are perceived to benefit a particular group. Third, perceptions of threat and conflict can increase preferences for dominant leaders. Based on these mechanisms, moral condemnation alone has limitations in addressing the appeal of transgressive leaders. Conceptually, relevant approaches include evaluating claims of benefits based on evidence, critically examining threat narratives, and distinguishing leadership firmness from norm violations. This study highlights the importance of understanding support for transgressive leaders as the result of an interaction between morality, interests, perceptions of power, and threat contexts, rather than simply as a reflection of low public moral awareness.
