Abstract

This study stems from the urgency to integrate Islamic Religious Education (PAI) with the values of religious moderation in an effort to cultivate a peaceful, open-minded, and reflective understanding of religion, particularly within educational settings. Using a library research method, this study not only examines the normative aspects of Islamic teachings but also explores pedagogical approaches that are contextual and relevant to the socio-cultural realities of students. Islamic moderation is positioned as a foundational paradigm for developing an inclusive, just, and balanced model of religious education that can respond to the challenges of internal diversity within the Muslim community. In this regard, PAI must be developed progressively through participatory and reflective approaches, placing students as active agents in critically understanding and internalizing religious values. The role of teachers is crucial as agents of value transformation, not only delivering Islamic content but also instilling a spirit of moderation that is applicable in daily life. Therefore, there is a need for a curriculum design and learning strategy that is integrative, adaptive, and rooted in the values of moderation, so that PAI can meaningfully contribute to shaping tolerant Muslim characters who are open-minded and capable of living harmoniously in a pluralistic society. The implications of this study indicate that strengthening Islamic moderation through education is a strategic step in sustaining inclusive and peaceful religious life amid an increasingly complex social landscape.

Abstract

This study discusses the problems faced by parents in guiding their children aged 10-12 years to perform compulsory prayers in the digital era in Setambah B Hamlet, Sungai Rambah Village, Sambas District. The objectives of this study are to reveal: 1) To identify the challenges faced by parents in fostering compulsory prayer among children aged 10-12 years in the digital era in Setambah B Hamlet, Sungai Rambah Village, Sambas District in 2023. 2) To identify the strategies employed by parents to address the challenges in fostering the obligatory prayer practices of children aged 10-12 years in the digital age in Setambah B Village, Sungai Rambah Sub-district, Sambas District in 2023. This study employs a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Three data collection techniques were used: observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data display, verification, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The problems faced by parents in fostering the obligatory prayer of children aged 10-12 years in the digital era in Setambah B Hamlet, Sungai Rambah Village, Sambas District include: first, low parental understanding of religion, as indicated by the parents' educational attainment, which is only primary school, second, lack of parental role models in the family, especially in terms of worship, third, parents are busy working, as indicated by their daily activities as rubber and rice farmers who have little time to spend with their children, fourth, minimal supervision from parents due to work factors, resulting in reduced family togetherness, and finally, children are influenced by gadgets, as evidenced by their neglect of worship, even to the point of abandoning prayer. 2) The ways parents address challenges in fostering prayer among children aged 10–12 years in the digital era in Setambah B Village, Sungai Rambah Sub-district, Sambas District, include various forms of guidance: setting a good example (by directly demonstrating prayer to children), establishing habits (encouraging children to perform obligatory prayers), giving advice, (giving children daily advice on the importance of prayer), limiting gadget use (by setting time limits for children to use mobile phones), and imposing punishments (by giving children educational punishments, such as reprimanding them directly).

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an important ability in the student learning process to manage thoughts, motivations, and behaviors independently in achieving goals. The ability of students to regulate themselves in learning from an early age is important to form learning independence, academic achievement, and readiness to face the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to find out the overview of the level of self-regulated learning in elementary school students. The research method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative method. The respondents of this study are active students in grade 5 of elementary school. The sampling technique used a total sampling with 125 students. This research instrument was prepared based on aspects from Zimmerman (1990), namely metacognitive, motivational, and behavioral. The results of the categorization test showed that the majority of students (72.8%) had SRL levels in the low category, 16% in the high category, and 11.2% in the low category. The difference test showed that there was a significant difference in SRL by gender, where female students had higher levels of SRL than male students. However, no significant differences were found by class or age.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) is the main foundation in the formation of character, morals, and spirituality of Christians. The values ​​contained in the Old Testament (OT) are not only a historical legacy, but are also relevant to answer the challenges of education in the modern era. This study aims to analyze the relevance of teaching Old Testament values ​​in contemporary Christian Religious Education. By using the literature study method, this study found that values ​​such as obedience, justice, love, and social responsibility taught in the OT remain relevant to shape the character of Christian students. The implementation of these values, if contextualized creatively, can be a solution to the moral and spiritual crisis in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Adversity Quotient and School Wellbeing in junior high school students. Adversity Quotient describes an individual's ability to face, survive, and recover from difficulties, while School Wellbeing refers to student well-being, which includes feelings of safety, comfort, acceptance, and a sense of purpose in the school environment. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a random sampling technique, involving 151 respondents. The instruments used are the Adversity Quotient Scale and the School Wellbeing Scale, which have met the requirements for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman test because the data were not normally distributed. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive relationship between Adversity Quotient and School Wellbeing. This finding indicates that students who have a higher ability to face challenges tend to have a better level of well-being at school. This indicates the importance of developing borrowing power and self-resilience in supporting student well-being in the educational environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in symbolic thinking ability of 5-6 year old children through loose parts at Tunas Harapan Kindergarten. This study used a Quasi Experimental research type with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design design. The sample in this study amounted to 20 children, the sampling technique used Saturated Sample (Census). The research instrument used was an observation sheet. Statistical analysis in hypothesis testing used the Wilcoxon Signed-rank test. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the pretest results showing a value in the Not Good (TB) category, which was (40%) with an average of 20 and experienced an increase in the posttest results to the Very Good (SB) category of (60%) with an average value of 36. The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-rank test showed an Asymp. value. signature. (2 tailed) is 0.000, which means it is smaller than the significance level α = 0.05. Based on the results of the analysis above, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the symbolic thinking ability of children aged 5-6 years through the loose part at Tunas Harapan Kindergarten.

Abstract

Learning modality is an essential component in developing innovative educational strategies aimed at improving students’ learning quality. Each student possesses a unique combination of sensory preferences visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic which influences how they best absorb, process, and retain information. This journal explores the application of learning modalities as an innovative approach to personalize learning experiences, thereby enhancing student engagement and academic outcomes. Through a literature-based qualitative analysis, the study highlights the effectiveness of adapting instructional methods to suit different learning styles. The integration of diverse modalities not only fosters better comprehension but also cultivates a more inclusive and student-centered learning environment. Findings suggest that recognizing and responding to students' learning preferences is crucial for optimizing teaching strategies and achieving holistic educational development. This approach supports the shift from traditional, one-size-fits-all models toward more adaptive and meaningful pedagogies aligned with 21st-century learning demands.

Abstract

This article discusses the essential role of reason in the acquisition, organization, and verification of knowledge, especially through the method of literature study. In the realm of science, reason functions not only as a thinking tool for processing information but also as an epistemological foundation that enables researchers to provide critical analysis and interpret various types of written sources. This research, which uses a literature review approach, examines how reason aids in analytical thinking and synthesis when identifying key ideas, comparing various theoretical perspectives, and organizing coherent arguments from existing literature. Furthermore, reason also plays a crucial role in assessing the credibility and validity of literary sources, as well as in making logical inferences to draw appropriate conclusions and develop new insights from written data. The ability of the mind to reflect and reconstruct existing knowledge is the main driver of progress in scientific discussions. Therefore, this writing emphasizes that reason is an essential and inseparable element for every scientific endeavor based on literature studies, ensuring objectivity, consistency, and advancement in the understanding of knowledge.

Abstract

The interest in learning among students at SMP Negeri 1 Fakfak is still low, which can lead to inactive learning and negatively impact learning outcomes. Therefore, as educators, we must be able to stimulate students' interest in learning. We, as educators, must also be able to increase interest in learning, which is the most important thing in every human being in order to achieve the goals set by an educator, especially in students to have enthusiasm in learning. A good educator is able to stimulate interest in learning. However, each subject has a different level of difficulty, so to stimulate interest in learning, there must be strong encouragement, especially from educators. The research question in this study is: How can the application of Caplay Educational Games improve learning outcomes in biology on the topic of ecosystems in Grade 7 at SMP Negeri 1 Fakfak? This study uses a quantitative research method. The population in this study is Grade 7B students. The sampling techniques used in this study are learning outcome tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The objective of this study is: How to apply the Caplay Educational Game to improve biology learning outcomes on the ecosystem topic in Grade 7 at SMP Negeri 1 Fakfak for the 2024/2025 academic year, aiming to achieve a minimum passing grade of 70 as set by the school. The application of Game Education Caplay can be used to help students understand lesson concepts and practice questions that are designed to be engaging and adapted to technological advancements. Additionally, it can stimulate students' creativity and enhance their logical thinking and understanding when using it. Currently, many students are more interested in using computers or other technological media.

Abstract

The role of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers is vital in shaping the Christian character of students within the school environment. This study explores the contributions of CRE teachers in fostering spiritual, moral, and social values rooted in Christian teachings. Through literature analysis and a descriptive approach, this research highlights how teachers become role models, facilitators of faith-based education, and mentors in guiding students toward living out Christian values in their daily lives. The findings indicate that CRE teachers contribute significantly to character development by integrating biblical principles into learning activities, building students' faith, and creating a school culture that upholds integrity, compassion, and responsibility. The study affirms the urgency of empowering CRE teachers to fulfill their spiritual and pedagogical duties effectively to shape a generation that reflects the image of Christ.
