Abstract

This study examines the construction of multicultural education in enhancing students’ tolerance at Pondok Pesantren Asy-Syarify Pandanwangi Lumajang. Using a post-positivist approach with an interpretative method, the research analyzes the implementation of multicultural values and identifies supporting and inhibiting factors. The findings indicate that values such as equality, justice, tolerance (tasamuh), deliberation (musyawarah), and brotherhood (ukhuwah) have been effectively integrated into the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and pesantren culture. However, challenges remain, including limited media resources and individual students' attitudes toward diversity. This study concludes that the construction of multicultural education in the pesantren plays a crucial role in fostering students’ tolerance. Despite existing obstacles, the pesantren continues to strive toward creating an inclusive and harmonious environment

Abstract

Attention to halal products for Muslims in the world is increasingly growing, especially in countries with minority Muslim populations. Labels for halal food and beverage products for Muslim minority countries are certainly very much needed because Islamic doctrine teaches its people to consume halal food and drinks. There are several Muslim minority countries in the world such as Brazil, Australia, Taiwan, Russia, Thailand, the Philippines and several other Muslim minority countries that require acceleration in the practice of Islam for Muslims in minority countries. The policy of a country as a determinant of the direction of the formation of social identity of the lives of adherents between diverse communities is a necessity. The presence and role of halal certification institutions that provide halal product guarantees (JPH) such as in Indonesia, is a concrete example that is a hope and opportunity for Muslims in minority countries. It is not surprising that since 2022 the Indonesian Ministry of Religion has provided assessments for foreign halal institutions (LHLN) in several countries, such as South Korea, New Zealand, the United States and others. This article describes how the industrialization of halal products in Muslim minority countries; between opportunities and challenges? Through qualitative methods with a literature study approach, this article is expected to provide a constructive contribution to the development of scientific studies on Islamic economics, especially in the discourse on halal product development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzes the position of pesantren in the national education system based on Law No. 18 of 2019, focusing on Formal Diniyyah Education (PDF) and Mu’adalah Education. As religious-based institutions, pesantren play a strategic role in human resource development. The 2019 Pesantren Law grants them official recognition within the national education system. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this study reviews policy documents, academic literature, and research reports. Findings show that the law provides a strong legal basis for pesantren, recognizing PDF and Mu’adalah as equivalent to formal education. However, challenges remain in accreditation, curriculum standardization, and institutional management. The study concludes that integrating pesantren into the national system is a progressive step, but stronger government support in regulation and funding is essential. Recommendations are given to policymakers and pesantren administrators to enhance the implementation of PDF and Mu’adalah in achieving national education goals.

Abstract

Saat ini, cadar menjadi simbol identitas yang kuat. Tantangan sosial dan stigma sering kali menjadi bagian dari realitas yang harus dihadapi oleh wanita muslimah bercadar. Namun, hal ini tidak menghambat peningkatan jumlah wanita yang memilih untuk tetap mempertahankan identitas diri mereka sebagai bentuk representatif wanita salihah. Tujuan dari penelitan ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan cadar dalam membentuk identitas diri muslimah bercadar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Subyek penelitian ini adalah muslimah bercadar yang berada di Kabupaten Lumajang. Dalam menggali data, peneliti menggunakan teknik wawancara dan observasi dan menganalisisnya dengan mereduksi data sehingga berbentuk kata-kata dan tulisan yang kemudian dapat ditarik kesimpulan terkait tema dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan cadar dapat memperkuat identitas agama seorang Muslimah, sekaligus berfungsi sebagai alat untuk mengekspresikan kebebasan dalam menjalani ajaran Islam. Meskipun terdapat variasi pandangan terkait cadar dalam konteks sosial dan budaya, sebagian besar responden menganggap cadar sebagai bagian penting dalam membentuk citra diri mereka sebagai individu yang taat dan bermartabat.
