This study aims to examine the effect of the implementation of E-Samsat, tax sanctions, and income on the compliance of motor vehicle taxpayers in Badung Regency. This research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of online questionnaires using Google Forms. The number of respondents in this study was 100 people, selected using the accidental sampling method. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis with the aid of IBM SPSS version 25. The analysis results show that E-Samsat has a positive and significant effect on taxpayer compliance, tax sanctions have a positive and significant effect on taxpayer compliance, and income has a positive and significant effect on taxpayer compliance. These findings support Attribution Theory and Task Technology Fit Theory, and provide practical input for relevant agencies, particularly the Samsat Office in Badung Regency, in improving taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of leverage and capital intensity on accounting conservatism in companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2019–2023. Accounting conservatism is regarded as a prudence principle in financial reporting, which is essential for minimizing the risk of overly optimistic reporting—particularly for firms with complex financing structures. Utilizing the Efficient Contracting Theory, this research focuses on how leverage, which reflects the proportion of debt financing, and capital intensity, which indicates the level of fixed asset investment, may influence the degree of accounting conservatism. The sample consists of 417 companies selected through purposive sampling, resulting in a total of 2,085 annual observations. The analytical model employed is multiple linear regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), along with classical assumption tests and partial hypothesis testing. The results indicate that leverage has no significant influence on accounting conservatism, while capital intensity has a significant positive influence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyse the influence of factors such as benefits, altruism, and nominal flexibility on the interest in infaq among customers of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) in Banjarmasin City. Infaq is a form of worship in Islam that can be channelled through Islamic financial institutions such as BSI. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method and data collection through questionnaires given to 100 respondents. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS 22 software. The results of the study indicate that the three independent variables—benefits of infaq, altruism, and nominal flexibility—have a significant influence on interest in infaq. Altruism has the most dominant influence, followed by the benefits of infaq and flexibility. Together, these three factors contribute 64.6% to customers' interest in infaq. These findings have practical implications for BSI to enhance its education and infaq programmes by emphasising spiritual benefits, moral values, and transaction ease tailored to individual capabilities.

Abstract

The present study aims to explore and analyse teachers' views and experiences in using ice breaking as a strategy to increase motivation to learn English in early childhood. Ice-breaking activities are recognised as a pivotal component in establishing an conducive learning environment, enhancing student engagement, and mitigating affective barriers. The present study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through an open-ended questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 30 teachers from preschool to junior high school levels who have experience using ice-breaking activities. The findings indicate that the vast majority of teachers have incorporated ice-breaking activities into their lessons, with the most prevalent forms of activities being songs, physical games, and quizzes. Teachers have perceived the efficacy of ice-breaking activities in enhancing students' focus, active participation, and enthusiasm. Nevertheless, challenges such as time constraints, a paucity of activity variety, and classroom management persist. Furthermore, these findings lend further support to the theory of the importance of a positive classroom climate, intrinsic motivation, and the reduction of affective barriers in language learning. Furthermore, teachers' perceptions of the efficacy of ice-breaking activities have been shown to significantly influence their successful implementation. The present study concludes that ice-breaking activities are a strategic element in early childhood English language learning, with their success heavily dependent on teachers' preparedness and creativity.

Abstract

This article explores the evolution of Islamic thought within the framework of modernity, highlighting the signs of renewal initiated by Muslim thinkers and figures, as well as the challenges encountered during this journey. By employing a qualitative method and reviewing relevant literature, this research determined that integrating Islamic perspectives with a contextual approach could enhance Islamic education's role in fostering a better human civilization in today's world. Islamic thought has transitioned from a standard doctrinal framework to a conversational contextual framework that is better suited to the challenges of contemporary times. This renewal encompasses education, legal politics, Sufism, and technology, while encountering difficulties in striking a balance between tradition and modernity. In the views of Islamic scholars, Islamic education should prioritize a comprehensive approach that addresses not just intellectual dimensions but also spiritual, moral, and social elements.

Abstract

Language holds immense power in shaping perceptions, constructing realities, and influencing social behavior, especially in contexts of conflict. This study employed a qualitative systematic review to examine how language is used as a tool for propaganda and misinformation in conflict zones, focusing on Anambra State. Literature from 2010 to 2024 was sourced from credible databases such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, AJOL, and Scopus, using keywords related to language, conflict, and insecurity in Southeast Nigeria. Only empirically grounded studies were included. Data were analyzed thematically, revealing recurring strategies like emotive language, ethnic appeals, and framing government as adversaries. The review followed PRISMA guidelines to ensure transparency, credibility, and minimize bias in presenting how language influences public perception and insecurity. The findings reveal that emotionally charged and biased language, often shared through digital platforms and informal channels, plays a significant role in deepening distrust, spreading fear, and eroding public confidence. In Anambra, where underlying tensions exist, such linguistic manipulation worsens insecurity and fragments social cohesion. The study also emphasizes the role of media literacy in helping individuals critically evaluate information, resist manipulative narratives, and foster informed public discourse. Additionally, the research highlights how language can serve as a bridge for peacebuilding when used inclusively and responsibly. Language, therefore, is central to both the challenges and solutions related to insecurity in conflict-affected societies.

Abstract

This study explores the effect of parental involvement on the academic performance of third intermediate students in English language in Saudi Arabian public schools. Employing a quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-tests, the study examined a sample of 113 male students divided into experimental and control groups from two schools in Qurayat. The experimental group's parents actively participated in the educational process, while the control group's parents did not. Results indicated statistically significant differences in post-test scores in favor of the experimental group, suggesting that parental engagement has a positive impact on students' English language achievement. The study concludes with recommendations to promote structured parental involvement and proposes further longitudinal research across diverse contexts.

Abstract

Gambling has long been a social problem that can have a significant impact on the lives of individuals, families and society as a whole. This study aims to analyse the effect of gambling on the incidence of property crime, both in terms of income and losses caused by gambling habits in society. The data used in this study were obtained from the North Jakarta Police. Gambling, which is an activity involving betting money or goods with results dependent on luck, is often associated with various forms of crime. Property crimes such as theft, robbery, and fraud can be triggered by an individual's dependence on uncontrolled gambling. In this research, it is carried out normatively where gambling is an act prohibited by law and anyone, be it a new gambler or a recidivist who commits gambling, is subject to criminal law sanctions. As a result of the influence of gambling, it creates criminal motives (such as theft, fraud, and embezzlement), weakens self-control to commit crimes, and causes losses to other people's property. Normatively, gambling is regulated by laws in Indonesia such as the Criminal Code (KUHP) Article 303, Regional Regulations (Perda). The results showed that although gambling can provide short-term benefits, in the long run, gambling addiction often causes losses.
