Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an endemic disease that remains a public health challenge, partly due to low compliance with the 3M behavior (Draining, Covering, and Recycling) at the household level. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of residents in RW 04, Dusun Wonorejo, Sidomulyo Village, in preventing DHF through 3M education combined with the approaches of larva-eating fish distribution (ikanisasi) and local health cadre empowerment. The program was conducted from May 26 to June 14, 2025, using participatory, educational, evidence-based, community-driven, and empowerment-oriented approaches. The methods included an initial needs assessment through surveys, cadre training using the “AKTIF SEHAT” educational booklet accompanied by pre- and post-tests, distribution of larva-eating fish to households through door-to-door visits, verbal health education, and the installation of “Larva-Free House” stickers as visual media and participation markers. The results showed an increase in cadre knowledge from 50% to 90%, along with active community involvement in maintaining environmental cleanliness and independently replacing fish when needed. This intervention proved effective in promoting household-based preventive behavior and is recommended for replication in other areas to support sustainable dengue control efforts.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological development, the decline in youth entrepreneurship is a serious challenge in various countries, including Indonesia. One strategic solution to overcome this problem is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset from adolescence. An entrepreneurial mindset encompasses not only the ability to create a business but also fosters a creative, innovative, independent, and resilient attitude in facing challenges. This article aims to examine the importance of early entrepreneurship education and training, particularly among adolescents, through curriculum approaches, training, and the role of family and school environments. By fostering an entrepreneurial spirit from adolescence, it is hoped that the younger generation can become independent economic actors capable of creating jobs, improving community welfare, and contributing to national economic development. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with literature review and field observation methods. The results indicate that cultivating the habit of creative thinking, the courage to take risks, and active involvement in entrepreneurial activities can shape a productive and solution-oriented mindset in adolescents.

Abstract

In the  village of Nanga Manday, located in Bika Subdistrict, Kapuas Hulu Regency, Indonesian Borneo, community development initiatives play a crucial role in addressing local religious and social needs. The low level of religious literacy, coupled with limited access to Islamic da'wah and in-depth religious knowledge, constitutes the primary problem formulation that hinders the fulfillment of fardhu kifayah obligations among the village community. Limited access to Islamic da'wah and in depth religious knowledge in Nanga Manday Village, Bika Subdistrict, Kapuas Hulu Regency, has posed challenges in fulfilling fardhu kifayah obligations, particularly in handling deceased bodies. The community's reliance on a single community figure to perform the entire process from bathing to burying the deceased has raised concerns among residents. This community service activity aims to enhance the theoretical understanding and practical skills of Nanga Manday Village residents regarding Islamic procedures for handling the deceased. A participatory-educational approach was employed, encompassing initial observations, socialization, material delivery, and hands-on training. The activity demonstrated high community enthusiasm, along with significant improvements in knowledge and skills across all stages of handling the deceased, from bathing, shrouding, praying over, to burying. Ultimately, the training successfully empowered the community to independently and correctly fulfill fardhu kifayah obligations, thereby reducing dependency and enhancing religious social responsibility within the community. This success not only opens opportunities for sustainable collaboration with local religious institutions such as Majelis Ta'lim, but also serves as a replicable model of community service for other remote villages in West Kalimantan, aimed at sustaining long-term independence, strengthening sharia-based social networks, and supporting sustainable community development in line with the national village development vision.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of candlenut and walnut potential and to identify the constraints and opportunities for their development in Probur Village, Alor Barat Daya District, Alor Regency. Probur Village has abundant natural resources, particularly candlenut and walnut commodities with high economic value; however, their utilization remains suboptimal. The community still manages these commodities traditionally, with limited knowledge, processing technology, and market access. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observations and interviews with the Village Head and Village Secretary of Probur. The findings indicate that candlenut and walnut resources are abundant and have strong potential as sustainable income sources for the community. Nevertheless, limited processing skills, lack of technology, and insufficient assistance result in these commodities being sold mainly in raw form, generating low added value. The study concludes that the development of candlenut and walnut potential in Probur Village requires community capacity building, the introduction of appropriate processing technologies, and sustainable marketing support to improve rural economic welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the condition of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Padang Panjang Village and to explore opportunities for developing MSMEs based on the village’s local potential. Data were obtained through interviews with village officials and community members as primary sources. The findings show that MSMEs in Padang Panjang Village are still relatively simple and limited to traditional weaving crafts, carpentry, and the trade of agricultural products. Nevertheless, the village possesses significant local potential, such as weaving skills, cultural traditions, strong social bonds within the community, and the tourism potential of the Padang Panjang Dam. These potentials provide promising opportunities for the development of creative economy–based MSMEs and local products. However, MSME development still faces several challenges, including limited capital, lack of market access, low managerial skills, and suboptimal training and business assistance. To address these issues, strategies for strengthening MSMEs are needed, such as human resource capacity building, forming MSME groups, product innovation training, utilizing digital technology for marketing, and enhancing collaboration between the community and village government. Active community participation in preserving and developing local crafts, along with village government support through coaching, financial facilitation, and institutional strengthening, are crucial factors in improving MSME competitiveness. Overall, this study emphasizes that developing MSMEs based on local potential has strong potential to become a key driver of the economy in Padang Panjang Village, provided it is supported by appropriate strategies and the involvement of all stakeholders.

Abstract

Waisika Village, located in the North East Alor District, is an area with significant natural resource potential, particularly in the agricultural and plantation sectors, which serve as the primary source of livelihood for the community. This study aims to describe the diversity of available agricultural and plantation commodities, analyze their utilization levels by the community, and examine their contribution to village economic development. Data were obtained through interviews with village officials and a review of village documents. The results indicate that the most widely cultivated agricultural commodities include rice, corn, beans, vegetables, walnuts, candlenuts, and coconuts. Fertile land conditions, water availability, and traditional farming practices that have been passed down through generations are factors supporting community productivity. Furthermore, plantation commodities such as coconuts, candlenuts, and walnuts have high sales value, potentially becoming superior village products if supported by an adequate marketing system. The agricultural and plantation sectors contribute significantly to food security, family income, and local economic growth. However, this potential has not been optimally utilized. Various obstacles, such as limited transportation access due to damaged roads, a lack of post-harvest innovation and technology, and limited market access, are major challenges to the development of this sector. This research confirms that targeted, modern, and sustainable management of agricultural and plantation potential is crucial for strengthening the economy of Waisika Village and opening up opportunities for developing new businesses based on local natural products.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the plantation potential in Petleng Village, Alor Tengah Utara District, Alor Regency, to analyze the challenges and constraints faced by farmers, and to formulate solutions and development strategies for the plantation sector in the village. A qualitative approach using in-depth interview methods with farmers in Petleng Village was employed to collect data. The results indicate that Petleng Village has significant potential in the plantation sector, particularly in agriculture, with nearly 65% of its total area consisting of paddy fields. This condition positions the village as a potential center for high-quality rice production as well as an educational agro-tourism village. However, farmers face several challenges, including inequitable distribution of agricultural subsidies, drought, and difficulties in irrigation, which have led to decreased yields and even crop failure. The proposed solutions include improving irrigation systems and water resource management, adopting modern agricultural technologies, diversifying plantation products, developing partnerships, and encouraging community participation in the management and development of educational agro-tourism. This study provides comprehensive insights into the potential, challenges, and solutions for developing the plantation sector in Petleng Village; however, further feasibility studies are required to assess the socio-economic and environmental impacts of implementing these solutions. Keywords: agriculture, potential, development, Petleng village

Abstract

This research aims to identify the potential of the agricultural sector and its impact on the economic conditions of the community in Mauta Village, Central Pantar District, Alor Regency. Mauta Village possesses abundant natural resources, particularly in commodities such as corn, rice, cashew nuts, and coconuts. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach involving field observations and direct interviews with village officials and local residents. The results indicate that the agricultural sector is the primary livelihood supporting the village economy, where each household manages an average of 2 hectares of land with a total production reaching 49 tons per year. In addition to agriculture, livestock potential in pigs and goats, as well as handicrafts, serve as supplementary income sources. However, village economic development is still hindered by low education levels, limited access to capital, damaged road infrastructure, and the natural disaster threat of Mount Sirung eruptions. This study concludes that optimizing agricultural potential based on local wisdom, supported by infrastructure improvements and MSME assistance, is essential to enhance the welfare of the Mauta Village community sustainably.
