Core Subject :
The philosophy behind the word JOIN in the Journal of Indonesian Education and Learning is dialogue, openness, and community of practice. Its philosophical basis is derived from Vygotskys concept in constructivist learning theory that learning experiences originate from a persons community of practice, which is constructed as a persons knowledge. This theory also requires openness in thinking and dialogue. Based on this philosophy, the JOIN: Journal of Indonesian Education and Learning is expected to become a medium for publishing research results in the field of education that prioritizes theoretical and practical studies so that they can be reconstructed by readers as new knowledge.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading and writing skills of Javanese scriptin grade IV students at SD Negeri 1 Pepedan. This problem arises because of the lowinterest of students in learning, difficulty in remembering the form of letters, andthe use of learning media that are less interesting. To overcome this, the teacherapplies the Round Table learning model with the help of flash card media to increasestudent activity and facilitate mastery of Javanese script material. The purposeof this study is to describe how the Round Table model is applied with flash cardmedia in learning Javanese script in grade IV of SD Negeri 1 Pepedan. This studyuses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques throughobservation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data is obtainedthrough triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicatethat the application of the Round Table model with flash cards includes three stages, namely: (1) the planning stage, which includes the preparation of teaching modules, media preparation, and student readiness; (2) the implementation stage, whichconsists of apperception activities, introduction to basic letters and sandhangan, group discussions, reading and writing exercises, taking turns working on questions, and group presentations; and (3) evaluation stage, in the form of written and oraltests. Supporting factors for the implementation of this model include active teacherinvolvement, suitability of the model and media to the material, and positiveresponses from students. Inhibiting factors include differences in students’ academicabilities, time constraints, and insufficient flash card media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of gender equality in the implementationof the Merdeka Curriculum at MIN 1 Banyumas. The Merdeka Curriculum promotesthe principles of inclusivity and equality in the learning process, which includesproviding equal opportunities for students regardless of gender. Although policies andthe curriculum support gender equality, challenges in its practical application are stillfound, both in task distribution and students' perceptions. The task distribution, whichis still based on gender stereotypes, such as female students being more often assigned"feminine" tasks and male students being involved in physical tasks, shows the stronginfluence of social norms in society. Additionally, students' perceptions of gender rolesare still influenced by the social views that develop outside of school, which affectstheir choices in activities and career aspirations. Teachers at MIN 1 Banyumas aretrying to change this perception by giving students the opportunity to explore variousroles without being bound by gender norms. However, these changes require timeand continuous support from various parties, including parents and the community. This study concludes that although the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculumprovides a strong foundation for gender equality, the biggest challenge lies in changingsocial perceptions and long-standing habits in society. A holistic approach involvingthe active role of all parties is needed to achieve more effective gender equality in theeducational environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students in understanding mathematics on the material of multiplication and division. Students still have difficulty in understanding the basic concepts of multiplication and division operations. This study aims to test the effectiveness of dakon media in improving the mathematical understanding of grade III students of MI Muhammadiyah Toyareka, Purbalingga Regency. This study also assesses the significant difference in effectiveness between classes using dakon media and classes applying conventional methods. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The results show that dakon media is effective in improving students' mathematical understanding abilities. This is evidenced by the average N-Gain value in the experimental class using dakon media of 0.775 with a percentage of 78% N-Gain score included in the effective category. Meanwhile, the control class using conventional methods obtained an average N-Gain value of 0.192 with a percentage of 19%. In addition, the difference in effectiveness is also supported by the results of the Mann-Whitney U Test on mathematical understanding abilities with a significance value of 0.002. Therefore, it was concluded that dakon media was effective in improving mathematical understanding skills. The difference in effectiveness between the average scores in the experimental and control classes was significant.
