Abstract

This study examines the role of school culture and management strategies in cultivating religious character among students at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, administrators, and students, as well as document analysis. Findings indicate that a positive school culture—comprising formal rules, informal interactions, rituals, and environmental cues—significantly influences students’ ethical behavior, spiritual awareness, and social responsibility. Management strategies, including curriculum integration, teacher professional development, leadership practices, extracurricular programs, and community engagement, reinforce cultural values and ensure consistent implementation. Observational and interview data show that alignment between school culture and management practices fosters higher levels of empathy, discipline, and moral reasoning. Challenges such as diverse student backgrounds and resource limitations are addressed through adaptive leadership, reflective practices, and collaborative approaches. The study concludes that a holistic integration of cultural and managerial strategies provides an effective framework for sustainable religious character development in secondary education.

Abstract

Learning the Qur'an, especially tahsin and tajwid, plays a strategic role in shaping students' religious competence. However, learning tahsin and tajwid in Islamic educational institutions still faces various obstacles, such as conventional learning methods, low learning motivation, and students' difficulties in understanding the abstract concept of tajwid. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Wordwall application in tahsin and tajwid learning at the Daarul Armina Foundation and analyze its impact on students' motivation and learning engagement. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with tahsin and tajwid teachers and students as research subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with data validity maintained through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Wordwall through the stages of planning, content development, implementation, and evaluation is able to create more interactive tahsin and tajwid learning, increase learning motivation, and make it easier for students to understand the makharijul huruf and the laws of tajwid. Thus, Wordwall can be an effective and relevant digital learning medium in learning the Qur'an in the digital era.

The research aims to identify PAI-based strategies used to foster tolerance, honesty, discipline, and cooperation among students with diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with Gen Z students, PAI teachers, non-PAI teachers, and student council members, as well as through observation and documentation. The findings indicate that PAI plays educative, preventive, and integrative roles in moral formation. Moral violations such as bullying, minor conflicts, and indiscipline decreased significantly after PAI-based interventions. The study concludes that PAI contributes effectively to developing moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral action, while creating a harmonious multicultural school climate.

Abstract

This study examines the learning problems of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at MTs Bahriyati Qur’anic Boarding School in Bengkulu City. The research aims to identify the forms of obstacles encountered in the IRE learning process, analyze their influencing factors, and understand their implications for learning effectiveness. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving IRE teachers, boarding tutors, and students. The results show that IRE learning problems arise from three interconnected aspects: students’ varied initial abilities and learning fatigue, teachers’ limited use of innovative methods and digital media, and environmental challenges within the boarding system such as dense activity schedules and insufficient learning facilities. These findings indicate that improving IRE learning requires a holistic effort integrating pedagogical strengthening, better learning management, and enhanced technological support.
