Abstract

The informal employment sector remains a dominant part of the labor market in Indonesia, which is influenced by various socioeconomic factors. This study aims to analyze the spatial influence of poverty, education level, and internet access on the distribution of informal employments in 34 provinces in Indonesia using the Spatial Error Model (SEM). The results show significant spatial autocorrelation, especially for poverty and informal workers, which confirms the existence of inter-regional spillover effects. The SEM estimation shows that poverty has a positive and significant effect on the level of informal employment, while higher education levels and internet access significantly reduce the level of informal employment. These findings emphasize the importance of spatially-aware policy interventions in addressing the issue of informal employments. Strengthening education, digital infrastructure, and targeted poverty alleviation programs are important strategies.

Abstract

This study explores the adoption of Financial Technology (FinTech) and how it affects the foundations of managerial knowledge in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from an ontological and epistemological perspective. Previous studies in this field have focused on the adoption of FinTech in the SME sector, the outcomes, performance, and financial inclusion; however, the broader implications and philosophy on how digital technologies affect managerial knowing have been neglected. Thus, a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines and management research theory building was conducted. The findings highlight three interconnected themes. SME environments of the past are dominated by practice-based, experiential, and contextual forms of managerial knowledge. Next, the rise of algorithms, machine learning, dashboards, and digital platforms fosters a new epistemology which is data-driven and technologised where knowledge is more and more embedded in technology. Finally, the combined presence of these two logics results in an epistemic tension and a hybridised epistemic structure in which managerial knowing becomes a collaborative process between human reasoning and technology. This study, using this synthesis, formulates an initial proposal of a conceptual framework that reconceptualises FinTech as an epistemic infrastructure, rather than a functional one. This perspective builds on theory by explaining how FinTech impacts managerial cognition, the legitimacy of knowledge, and epistemic power within SMEs. The study concludes with a call for future research that examines the cross-cognitive, philosophical, and ethical implications of digital transformation in the context of small businesses.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the foundation of Indonesia's economy, especially in the traditional culinary sector. A family restaurant, in operation since 2013, struggles to manage operations because its manual recording system relies on notebooks and basic records. This problem results in a significant frequency of order inaccuracies (3-6 occurrences daily), an average wait time of around 22 minutes, and challenges in inventory oversight. This project seeks to develop a cohesive, user-friendly ordering and administration website, with a responsive design, to address these operational issues. The study used a qualitative methodology, encompassing four months of observation, interviews with the restaurant proprietor, and literature reviews. The system development employs the Laravel Framework within an object-oriented programming paradigm, while requirements analysis is performed using use case, class, and sequence diagrams. The results demonstrate that implementing the ordering website substantially enhances the restaurant's operational efficiency. The system effectively substitutes the traditional ordering process, minimizes recording errors, accelerates service, and offers clients the ease of online ordering without temporal or locational constraints. The real-time inventory management tool enables the owner to precisely track stock levels, while the automatic transaction recording system improves the accuracy of financial reports. This study illustrates that digital transformation via an ordering website can preserve the attributes of a traditional warung while enhancing service quality and fostering the growth of culinary MSMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of audit committee, company size, independent board of commissioners, and solvency on audit delays in property and real estate sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2021–2023 period. Timeliness in the submission of audited financial statements is a crucial factor in maintaining the relevance and credibility of financial information for stakeholders, so audit delays are an important indicator to be studied. The approach used in this study is quantitative by utilizing secondary data sourced from the company's annual financial statements. The number of samples analyzed was 171 observations obtained through purposive sampling techniques. Hypothesis testing was carried out using multiple linear regression analysis. The study's findings show that audit committees, company size, and independent board of commissioners do not show a significant influence on audit delays. Conversely, solvency has been shown to have a positive and significant influence, meaning that an increase in solvency is likely to be followed by an increasing length of audit completion process, along with increasing complexity of funding structures and audit risks that must be examined in more depth. Simultaneously, all independent variables have a significant influence on audit delays. The results of this study are expected to enrich the literature related to the timeliness of audits and provide insight for management and stakeholders in understanding the factors that affect audit delays.

Abstract

This research addresses the significant influence of work motivation and discipline on employee performance at a human resource provider. The main aim is to determine which of these factors exerts the strongest impact on performance. To achieve this, the study employs descriptive and verification methods, gathering data from 40 employees through a targeted questionnaire. The findings reveal that the motivation variable directly affects performance, while it also has an indirect impact through the relationship with work discipline. Conversely, work discipline similarly demonstrates both a direct influence and an indirect effect via motivation. The analysis indicates that motivation and work discipline together account for a substantial portion of the variance in employee performance, while other unexamined factors account for the remainder. The novelty of this study lies in its combined approach to assessing these variables in an outsourcing context, offering insights that could enhance employee management strategies. The implications suggest that management should actively work to sustain and improve motivation and discipline levels to boost performance and foster a productive work environment.
