Focus and Scope Musikolastika: Journal of Music Performance and Education is a scholarly publication dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge concerning music and its societal applications in Indonesia. Through the publication of research articles, review articles, case reports, and conceptual or policy articles, Musikolastika serves as a platform for scholars and practitioners to engage with various aspects of musicology. With a particular emphasis on areas such as the analysis and forms of music, ethnomusicology, music performance, music education, philosophy, aesthetics, concepts, music theory, historical and musical entities, as well as the utilization of technology in music production, distribution, and consumption, the journal provides a comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted nature of music in both academic and practical contexts. Moreover, in acknowledging the diverse cultural landscape of Indonesia, Musikolastika also integrates a focus on Indonesian music traditions, contemporary music developments, music education practices, and the music industry within the local context, enriching the scholarly discourse with insights relevant to the Indonesian cultural milieu.

Abstract

This article seeks to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding that Music Education is actually a vehicle for Value Education because it presents good values ​​that can be internalized by a person so that a positive character is built. The research was conducted by reviewing the relevant literature so that the results can be described as answers that build a certain theoretical framework. The relevant literature in question is obtained from various written sources originating from journals, books, and web pages (internet). The entire literature is then reviewed, filtered to see its relevance, interpreted, described, reinterpreted, and described as an answer that explains the concept of Music Education as a vehicle for Values ​​Education. This study found that Music Education is a very important element as a vehicle for value learning, regardless of its implementation which has certain standards as regulated in NAfME as a Music Education organization in the world based in the United States. In the national context, Ki Hadjar Dewantara has always seen the importance of Music Education as a vehicle for Value Education through his conception of Gending and Wirama.

Abstract

Creativity is a thought or idea that exists in a person to create new things that have never been thought of by others, including in terms of arrangement. In the arrangement there is a process of creation, because the music to be arranged is the basic material, while the music that has been arranged must contain overall plus values ​​both in chords, melodies, accompaniment patterns, fillers and counter melodies. Rungon Wresthi is one of the music groups located in the city of Semarang. This musical group has its own uniqueness and charm in presenting its musical creativity. This study uses a qualitative research method with descriptive exposure, with the aim of revealing the creative method and background of the Rungon Wresthi music group in composing songs. The results of this study can be seen from the four elements of creativity from Rhodes' theory which show how Rungon Wresthi has creativity in creating works which in this context are in the form of Lir-Ilir song arrangements.

Abstract

Music education can be seen from two dimensions. First, as a contagion concept whose output is musical skills inherent in a person. Second, music education is a means to achieve certain learning goals. For example, music is used to teach children about the environment. At this level, music education is used as a tool to introduce someone to musical experiences. Musical experience can be done with an emphasis on aesthetic and cultural values. This notion is done by providing insight that develops learning to apply the values of creation and appreciation. This conceptual article attempts to generate ideas and justifications for the concepts of music education in order to make an original contribution in the form of key and logical arguments that are communicated effectively. Learning experiences that are supported by these aspects make a person educated musically. Aesthetics relates to the values of goodness and beauty that can be transmitted. Meanwhile, culture is a means of introducing and strengthening identity. These strategies are concepts embodied in music education.

Abstract

This research is to find Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi's view of music. This research is descriptive analytical research with a character study approach, namely Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi. The data is divided into primary and secondary data, the primary data taken is the work of al-Faruqi, namely the Atlas of Islamic Culture and Islamization of Knowledge, secondary data comes from the opinions of Islamic figures related to Islamic science and music. This study concludes that music according to al-Faruqi is part of science in Islam that must be based on monotheism where music that is not in accordance with monotheism should be kept away, because music is a beauty that will ultimately be able to confront obedience to God.

Abstract

In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, it has an impact on fast information. Since the beginning of 2020 until now, face-to-face activities are still limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has had an impact on the education system, particularly in the field of vocal music. But of course it takes creativity and innovation to overcome these problems. This study uses a qualitative approach. In writing this is qualitative data, using a descriptive approach, namely research that intends to make a description of situations or events (Basrowi, 2008). Based on data sources, this type of research is field research in the form of descriptive qualitative research. The form of vocal ensemble learning in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 can be done by utilizing several digital applications. Among them, using the Zoom Meeting application by utilizing the video call feature and the use of features from Zoom have their respective advantages and this provides a new paradigm if both are used in the online vocal ensemble practice learning process.

Abstract

The Komunitas Lima Gunung is a forum for traditional artists who live in mountainous areas around Magelang, namely Merapi, Merbabu, Andong, Menoreh, and Sumbing. This community was initiated by Sutanto Mendut as a medium of communication between traditional artists and an effort to keep traditional arts alive, both related to ritual arts which have certain packages in their performances and profane art that is free of creation. This research uses a cultural approach paradigm. Case study and ethnographic research design in the Komunitas Lima Gunung. Primary data sources were obtained from the artists of the Komunitas Lima Gunung, and secondary data sources were obtained from exhibition catalogs, media publications, and cultural observers. Data collection techniques were carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. Data analysis was carried out interactively back and forth from various phases, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of this research is that the cultural subversion promoted by Sutanto Mendut and the Komunitas Lima Gunung requires an alternative culture or a counter culture culture. Cultural subversion initiated by Sutanto Mendut and the Komunitas Lima Gunung rejects the domination and hegemony of certain cultures over other cultures. Instead, it gave rise to many versions of culture from various communities. The various versions of culture are not only an identity, but also a source of inspiration for various creations, both discourses, expressions, and cultural products. Culture is also able to support the life force of its people in the midst of the state's neglect of its people. People become more independent of the state so that they have a high bargaining position. Ideally, through culture, the people can be reached back to their ownership.
