Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' strategies in instilling Islamic religious values in early childhood at PAUD Mentari Muslim, Depok City. The study is motivated by the importance of religious education as a foundation for character development from an early age, particularly within Islamic-based educational institutions. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the teachers' strategies consist of five main components of learning: planning (RPPH and RPPM integrated with Islamic values), developing age-appropriate learning materials, using interactive methods such as play, storytelling, and habituation, utilizing engaging visual media such as hand puppets and videos, and conducting narrative evaluations through observation and anecdotal records. The religious values instilled include aspects of faith (aqidah), worship (ibadah), and morality (akhlaq), delivered through enjoyable and contextual approaches. This study also reveals challenges in implementing these strategies, such as limited facilities and the need for greater parental involvement in supporting religious learning. These findings contribute to the development of adaptive and applicable strategies for Islamic religious education at the early childhood education level.

Abstract

This study is based on the importance of tahfidz teachers in strengthening students' memorization. Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School has implemented a tahfidz program as an effort to form students who have a love for the Qur'an and have noble morals. However, there are challenges in maintaining consistency in memorization, especially because of laziness in students, differences in student abilities, and learning methods in memorizing. The purpose of this study is to find out about the role of tahfidz teachers in strengthening memorization and the obstacles and solutions of tahfidz teachers in strengthening students' memorization. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The basis of this study was obtained through interviews, observations and documentation. The data collected were analyzed and presented in descriptive form. The data sources in this study were various evidence or facts collected for a specific purpose. Based on the source, research data can be divided into two types, namely primary data and secondary data. The results of the study indicate that the role of tahfidz teachers at Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in strengthening memorization includes: teachers as educators, instructors, mentors, motivators, learning resources, elevators and innovators. This study also found several obstacles in the memorization process, such as lack of understanding of tajwid, limited time, differences in student abilities, and laziness. To overcome these obstacles, teachers provide solutions in the form of providing tajwid materials routinely, providing additional time outside the official schedule, implementing punishment for students who are alpha, and guiding students to continue to do murojaah gradually.

Abstract

This research addresses the critical need for character education (ta'dib) in the modern Indonesian educational context, which often prioritizes technological advancement over moral development. PADI Elementary School, which adopts a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) system, serves as a case study for implementing such values. This study aims to describe the implementation, obstacles, and solutions of character education (ta'dib) at PADI Elementary School in its effort to shape students into Insan Kamil (complete/perfect human beings). The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing observation and interviews with the school principal and a fifth-grade homeroom teacher to collect data. The implementation of character education is conducted effectively through several methods: (1) Special subjects like "Syair Adab" (Poetry of Manners) and lessons from the kitab adab al-insan fii al-islam using bandongan and demonstration methods. (2) Habituation programs, notably the use of a "Muttaba'ah" book to monitor students' practice of obligatory worship (fardhu 'ain) and daily manners at home, facilitating crucial collaboration between school and parents. (3) The establishment of clear rules and disciplinary measures (Aturan dan Tata Adab). The main obstacles identified include some students violating basic manners (e.g., verbal fights, tardiness, not completing the Muttaba'ah book) and a lack of parental involvement in mentoring their children's habituation at home. Solutions are applied through a system of motivational rewards (e.g., praise, star system) and educational punishments (e.g., warnings, point deductions, discussion).

Abstract

Abstract

This research is motivated by initial observations that showed low memorization scores among students in the Al-Qur'an subject. This can be seen from the students' average scores on daily test results, which ranged between 60-75 — still below the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). To improve Qur’an memorization, a classroom action was carried out by implementing the peer learning method. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of the peer learning method in enhancing students' memorization skills in the Al-Qur'an subject. This research also aims to determine how effective the peer method is in strengthening students' memorization abilities in the Al-Qur'an subject at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta, and to assess how strong the students' memorization is when they recite to their teacher. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 30 eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta. The data collection techniques used in this research included observation, interviews, and documentation. Observation involved gathering data through memorization Q&A and oral examinations in which students recited their memorized verses. The results of this research include: 1. The implementation of the peer learning method in the Al-Qur'an subject was categorized as very good. 2. The students' memorization reinforcement in the Al-Qur'an subject showed improvement with each cycle using the peer learning method. It was found that, during the pre-cycle, the success rate percentage was 37%, which was below the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). After applying the peer method, in Cycle 1 the percentage increased to 70%, indicating an improvement of 33% from the pre-cycle. However, this was still below the expected percentage. Therefore, the next session proceeded with Cycle 2. After implementing Cycle 2, the percentage of memorization reinforcement increased to 80%, marking a 10% increase from Cycle 1. Thus, from pre-cycle to Cycle 2, the students' memorization improvement reached 43%. This percentage met the expected criterion of 75%. The implementation of the peer learning method can improve students' memorization reinforcement in the Al-Qur'an subject at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta.
