Abstract

Abstract: One of the drivers of the economy in Indonesia today is the consistent increase in MSMEs locally and nationally. In running MSMEs, there is a need for proper development and management so that they are still able to develop and advance in their business. In every economic sector, MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) are autonomous production sectors run by the private sector or legal entities. Since Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, it is necessary to ensure that the products sold by MSMEs are halal. This service aims to assist MSME players in obtaining halal certification to increase consumer confidence. The "practical learning" approach, which is applied in community service activities (PkM), offers MSME partners technical assistance through one-on-one coaching. The expansion of MSMEs in halal certification support was the outcome of this PkM initiative. It is envisaged that with this help, sales volumes and consumer trust in the completeness of halal certification will increase.     Keywords: MSMEs, mentoring, halal certificate.

Abstract

Abstract: This program was designed to bolster high school teachers' expertise in applying the case method to math and science instruction. Over six months, 19 teachers from Lampung Province participated in a structured series of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions. The pretest and posttest evaluations highlighted significant gains in both conceptual understanding and the ability to develop case-based teaching materials. Participants were also trained to design student worksheets with digital tools like Canva, integrating scientific and socio-scientific scenarios into their lessons. By doing so, the program nurtured critical thinking, problem-solving, and environmental awareness among educators and their students. By equipping teachers with effective strategies for embedding real-world cases into their teaching, the initiative has taken a meaningful step toward advancing innovative practices in chemistry education and other scientific disciplines. To amplify its impact, expanding the program to additional regions and incorporating more classroom simulations is recommended. Such steps would further refine teachers' skills and boost student engagement with complex scientific topics. Emphasizing creativity, critical thinking, and real-world connections, this initiative represents a significant stride in enhancing high school science education. Keywords: case-based instruction, high school teachers, socioscientific issues.

Abstract

Micro and small industries (MSIs) play a crucial role in the national economic structure but are vulnerable to macroeconomic dynamics such as fluctuations in gross domestic product (GDP), inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, exports, unemployment, and proportion of credit and tax incentives. The instability of these economic factors can directly affect the competitiveness and resilience of MSIs, making an in-depth study of their impact highly relevant. This paper navigates the relationship between GDP, tax incentives, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, unemployment, export value, and the proportion of credit allocated to micro industries, small industries, and MSIs as a whole. Medium-term data from 2013–2023, focusing on Indonesia, were observed using linear regression. Three main findings emerged from the analysis. First, GDP and the proportion of credit had a significant positive effect on micro industries. Second, tax incentives, interest rates, export value, and the proportion of credit had a significant positive effect on small industries. Third, the proportion of credit was the only macroeconomic factor with a significant positive effect on MSIs overall.  The empirical findings suggest that access to finance is a key determinant of MSIs performance, in contrast to other macroeconomic variables, which are often anomalous or contradictory. This reality highlights that limited access to credit critically hampers MSIS investment, growth, and productivity, even under relatively stable macroeconomic conditions. Moreover, in macroeconomic policy scenarios, transmission mechanisms such as inflation or interest rates do not always have an immediate or direct impact on MSIs due to their limited access to formal financial support. Future research is expected to analyse and re-examine the dynamic determinants of MSIs development using more diverse models and data extraction methods. Keywords: micro and small industries, macroeconomics, linear regression, Indonesia.
