Abstract

This study aims to examine the linguistic practices underlying Dedi Mulyadi’s populist political communication on social media, particularly Instagram and YouTube. It adopts a qualitative approach, employing literature review and content analysis to explore how language is used strategically to construct a populist image and cultural identity. The data consist of videos uploaded on social media, with the analysis focusing on Dedi Mulyadi’s utterances that reflect political communication styles. The researcher serves as the primary instrument, and the data are analyzed using content analysis at the level of discrete units. The findings reveal that Dedi Mulyadi consistently employs Sundanese and Indonesian through language choice, code-switching, and code-mixing, combined with narrative and affective speech styles. This communication style not only reflects his closeness to grassroots communities but also functions as a means of constructing symbolic power and expressing resistance to political elites. These findings underscore the significant role of language in digital spaces in shaping social relations, cultural identity, and effective political communication strategies.

Abstract

The growth of MSMEs in Yogyakarta faces significant challenges due to the prevalence of illegal parking, which disrupts public order, urban aesthetics, and consumer accessibility. This study aims to explore the implications of illegal parking on MSMEs from an information literacy perspective and to develop an information literacy integration model to address these issues. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Six MSME actors in Yogyakarta were selected as informants. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The researcher acted as the primary instrument, supported by an interview guide. The findings indicate that illegal parking significantly reduces customer accessibility and leads to a decline in business revenue. In addition to economic impacts, illegal parking contributes to social conflict and deteriorates the image of the area. Information literacy emerges as a key element that enables business actors to understand regulations, evaluate credible information, and engage in data-driven advocacy with local government. As a sustainable solution, this study proposes a three-phase integration model consisting of a capacity-building phase, a solution implementation phase, and a sustainability phase. The implementation of this model is projected to enhance local government revenue, mitigate social conflict, and foster a more conducive business ecosystem through active collaboration between business actors and government institutions.

Abstract

National songs function not only as works of art but also as a medium of pragmatic communication imbued with national values. This study aims to analyze the illocutionary speech acts found in the lyrics of Indonesian national songs themed around struggle. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach based on the speech act theories of Austin (1962) and Searle (1979). The data consisted of song lyrics containing illocutionary speech acts, drawn from Indonesian national songs. Data were collected through several qualitative stages, namely source identification, text documentation, close reading, initial coding, and data recording. The data were analyzed inductively in order to interpret meanings based on the results of the analysis within the context of struggle and speech acts. The findings reveal that all five types of illocutionary speech acts were identified in the song lyrics: assertives (11), directives (12), commissives (15), expressives (8), and declaratives (1). Functionally, songs of struggle serve to mobilize the people, reinforce pledges, express emotions, affirm identity, and legitimize independence. These findings extend previous studies that focused only on a single type of illocutionary act by demonstrating that national songs contain the full range of illocutionary acts, functioning as instruments of national rhetoric and character education. Therefore, songs of struggle are not only aesthetically valuable but also performative in shaping the spirit of nationalism.

Abstract

Over the past five years, advances in information technology have led to a significant increase in the use of digital literacy-based learning media in elementary schools. This trend has become more pronounced since the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated the shift from conventional to digital learning environments. This article aims to examine trends in the development of digital literacy-based learning media for Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools during the period 2020–2025. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, employing a systematic literature review (SLR) combined with bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software. The findings indicate that, since 2020, there has been a shift from the use of relatively simple digital media, such as PDF modules and instructional videos, toward more interactive formats, including Android-based applications, online learning platforms, and gamified media. Furthermore, the integration of digital literacy into Indonesian language instruction not only enhances students’ basic literacy skills but also promotes active engagement, collaboration, and creativity. However, several challenges persist, including unequal access to technology, limited teacher competence, and insufficient integration of local cultural contexts. This study concludes that future development of digital literacy-based learning media should move toward more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to better support the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study explores how students from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), particularly those involved in the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), view the discourse surrounding the implementation of Islamic law (sharia) in Banten Province, as well as the factors that shape their perspectives. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. The data were collected from six students affiliated with NU/PMII in Banten, selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data collection instruments included in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires to ensure comprehensive data. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that respondents interpret Islamic law in a comprehensive manner, encompassing aspects of worship, morality, and social relations, rather than limiting it to formal legal frameworks. The majority of respondents reject the formalization of sharia into state law and instead emphasize a substantive approach grounded in the values of justice and public welfare. Their perspectives tend to be cautious, contextual, and responsive to the realities of a pluralistic society, with NU’s principles of religious moderation, such as tawassuth (moderation) and tasamuh (tolerance), play a significant role in shaping inclusive and non-coercive views, as well as in rejecting the politicization of religion in order to maintain national unity.

Abstract

Femicide is the most extreme form of gender-based violence, rooted in unequal power relations, sexism, and patriarchal culture. This study examines how Indonesian cultural contexts may contribute to femicide and identifies patterns of motives, risk factors, and perpetrator characteristics through a criminal profiling perspective. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design based on a literature review. A nomothetic approach was used to identify general patterns among femicide perpetrators. The findings show that femicide in Indonesia is largely associated with intimate partner violence, with common motives including jealousy, possessiveness, and a desire for control. The identified risk factors include perpetrator characteristics such as age, employment status, and prior history of violence; victim vulnerabilities such as age and economic dependence; and abusive relationship dynamics. Patriarchal values and certain social norms may also reinforce the justification of extreme violence, including honour killings. The study highlights the importance of integrating criminal profiling into femicide prevention strategies through early intervention, stronger law enforcement, and gender-responsive policies aimed at protecting women.
