Abstract

The student admission selection process is a crucial stage in ensuring the quality of education, yet it is often conducted manually, leading to inefficiency and subjectivity. This study aims to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) for new student selection at Railako Vocational Technical School using the TOPSIS method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature study, while system development employed the SDLC Waterfall model with PHP and MySQL implementation. The system evaluates candidates based on multiple criteria, including academic test scores, interview results, distance, and age. The results show that the TOPSIS method successfully ranks candidates objectively, with preference values of 0.625 (A2), 0.509 (A1), and 0.034 (A3), where A2 is identified as the best alternative. The system improves selection efficiency and reduces subjectivity compared to manual methods. This study contributes by integrating TOPSIS into a web-based system and demonstrating its effectiveness in real-case student selection scenarios.

Abstract

Human resource needs are crucial for supporting a company's sustainability and progress. Appropriate workforce planning and recruitment are essential for objective selection and the production of qualified employees. However, manual employee selection processes can potentially lead to subjectivity and suboptimal decision-making. This study aims to design and build a decision support system that can assist the Human Resources (HR) department in selecting prospective employees more effectively and structuredly, and provide suitability recommendations based on predetermined criteria. The method used in this study is the VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) system, which uses four main criteria: written tests, interviews, skills, and experience. The system was developed web-based to facilitate data access and management, and allows for adjustment of criteria and assessment weights as needed. The system's testing results on four respondents from each division showed a score of 0.47, which is considered good. This indicates that the system is capable of facilitating the evaluation process and providing alternative decisions in the selection of prospective employees. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the developed VIKOR-based decision support system is capable of increasing the effectiveness and objectivity of the employee selection process and providing effective support for decision-making.

Abstract

Inventory loss is a common issue in inventory management across sectors such as manufacturing, education, and construction. This problem is often caused by limitations of manual recording systems that cannot provide adequate data visibility or real-time asset monitoring. Digital technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer solutions to improve inventory management efficiency and reduce the risk of asset loss. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital technologies in inventory management systems and evaluate their impact on operational efficiency and asset control. The research uses a systematic literature review method by examining relevant national and international journal articles published between 2017 and 2025. The analysis focuses on identifying key findings from previous studies regarding the application of RFID and IoT in inventory tracking systems. The results show that technology-based tracking systems can improve recording accuracy, enable real-time inventory monitoring, and reduce the risk of asset loss. However, several challenges remain, including high initial implementation costs and the readiness of information technology infrastructure.

Abstract

Design Thinking has proven to be beneficial for solving complex problems in engineering and the industrial sector, yet the method is still underutilized in large-scale manufacturing. This paper demonstrates how Design Thinking can be applied to a motorcycle unit testing process to optimize fuel usage, reduce test costs, and improve sustainability. The methodology follows the five distinctive stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test (Brown, 2009; Plattner, Meinel, & Leifer, 2010). Insights were gathered from operators and engineers regarding inefficiencies such as idling and procedural inconsistency. Prototypes focusing on testing sequences and fuel measurement were implemented and tested under production conditions. Results showed that average fuel consumption decreased from 318.5 ml to 200 ml per unit—a reduction of 37%. Beyond cost savings, Design Thinking fostered collaboration, creativity, and shared ownership. This study demonstrates that human-centered innovation can deliver tangible efficiency and sustainability outcomes in the industrial sector (IDEO, 2015; Stanford d.school, 2020).   Keywords: Design Thinking, fuel optimization, motorcycle manufacturing, industrial efficiency, sustainability

Abstract

This study develops a forecasting model for water consumption at the Padang Municipal Waterworks using the Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) approach to enhance water distribution planning. Monthly consumption data from 2007 to 2024 were analyzed using time-series techniques. The results identify SARIMA (1,1,1)(1,1,1)₁₂ as the optimal model, effectively capturing both long-term trends and seasonal fluctuations. The model demonstrates high predictive accuracy with a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 5.26%. While the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 238,967.70 m³ suggests limited robustness against extreme data anomalies, the model remains highly effective for forecasting under normal operational conditions. These findings provide a data-driven foundation for Padang City’s water resource management, offering a more precise tool for anticipating demand cycles. Future research should consider incorporating external variables to better account for non-seasonal volatility.

Abstract

Household waste is one of the main components of household waste in Indonesia, and its growth year-on-year requires solutions for efficient processing in the future through approaches of reduction, reuse and recycling. A possible solution is to reduce waste at household level and is the use of micro-scale incinerators. The efficiency of these systems, however, is very dependent on the combustion properties of the burner. The purpose of this study is to develop a household incineration system and to investigate the variation of nozzle size (2, 3 and 4 mm) on the flame height and combustion residue. 500g of plastic waste and dry leaves were used for each experiment. The results reveal that the nozzle of 2 mm is the most optimized nozzle which achieved mass reduction of 99.46% for plastic waste and 99.64% for dry leaves with a maximum flame height of 27 cm for both the plastic waste and dry leaves. The results show that nozzle diameters have a significant impact on the fuel–air mixing and the velocity of the resulting flow, which results in more complete combustion as evidenced by the level of flame height and the amount of residue. The study suggests that for household incinerator applications the nozzle should be no smaller than 2 mm, and diameters of less than 2 mm should be further investigated as there is a possibility of clogging and back‑pressure.

Abstract

Hidrokortison asetat adalah suatu senyawa antiradang dari golongan kortikosteroid. Zat aktif ini memiliki kecenderungan mengalami degradasi selama penyimpanan sehingga dibutuhkan penetapan kandungan hidrokortison asetat dalam krim pemutih wajah yang ditetapkan dengan metode Kromatografi Cair Kinerja Tinggi (KCKT) fase terbalik. Sistem KCKT yang digunakan adalah kolom C18 (4.6 × 250 mm), fase gerak campuran asetonitril: aquabides (60:40), dengan menggunakan detektor UV 252 nm. Hasil analisis menunjukan kondisi pemisahan yang baik dengan fase gerak asetonitril: aquabides (60:40 v/v) dan laju alir 1.0 ml/menit. Semua komponen terpisah baik dalam waktu analisis kurang dari 2.0 menit. Hasil validasi metode menunjukan bahwa metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini memenuhi persyaratan akurasi, presisi, linieritas, LOD dan LOQ. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan metode memiliki linieritasyang baik (r = 0.9923). Hasil akurasisebesar 98,24% dan 98.84 %. Hasil presisi sebesar 0.23 %. Hasil LOD sebesar 7.2601 µg/mL dan hasil LOQ sebesar 24.2004 µg/mL. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh keempat sampel krim mengandung hidrokortison asetat dengan kadar masing-masing sampel A= 1.0583 µg/g, sampel B = 0.3316 µg/g, sampel C = 0.1513 µg/g, dan sampel D = 1.1662 µg/g.

Abstract

Autotransformator is a transformer that has primary and secondary winding with the same common winding, so that it has a lighter weight compared to ordinary power transformers. The purpose of this study is to optimize the main material used in the three-phase Auto transformer in order to get the most optimum value approaching the calculation results and to know the comparison between the calculation results and the actual use of the main material in the Auto transformer and three-phase power transformer. The main material in power transformers is copper for winding and silicon steel for cores (transformer cores). Based on this research, it can be concluded that the use of main material in Auto three-phase power transformer is less than the three-phase power transformer for the same voltage and power, the magnitude of the difference in the range of 12.5% ​​for Copper and core (transformer core) range of 47.3% of the main material in the power transformer can.

Abstract

Kebutuhan lampu penerangan di tempat yang tidak terjangkau aliran listrik PLN sangat tinggi, terutama untuk kebutuhan belajar siswa sekolah. Keterbatasan jaringan PLN mendorong kita untuk mencari sumber tenaga listrik alternatif, misalnya menggunakan listrik tenaga surya, lampu minyak bumi, battery dan lain lain. Salah satu yang masih belum banyak digunakan adalah sumber listrik tenaga gravitasi. Pada prinsipnya, sumber energy listrik tenaga gravitasi ini adalah merubah energy gravitasi suatu beban menjadi energi listrik. Besar kecepatan (RPM) dan lama waktu putaran generator DC ditentukan oleh berat beban sumber energy gravitasi dan rasio putaran elemen transmisi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang elemen transmisi yang effective untuk menggerakan generator DC dengan memanfaatkan energy gravitasi.

Abstract

Usaha Kecil merupakan bentuk usaha dengan modal dan tingkat kesulitan dalam membangun usahanya tidak sesulit usaha menengah maupun usaha dengan skala besar. Adapun Usaha kecil yang dimaksud adalah proses produksi kerajinan boneka. Usaha kerajinan boneka tersebut dilakukan oleh para pelaku usaha kecil dimulai dari proses pemilihan bahan baku boneka, model boneka yangdiproduksi, proses penjahitan dan finishing boneka, serta model penjualan boneka ke tangan konsumen langsung. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh pelaku usaha kecil kerajinan boneka adalah sumber dana yang sangat terbatas untuk melakukan perputaran usaha, tenaga kerja yang bersifat harian lepas dan sangat minim, persaingan harga jual boneka ke tangan konsumen, serta penerapan modelproduksi yang relatif konvensional. Adapun tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah agar mampu merancang produksi boneka secara optimal sehingga pelaku usaha kecil mampu meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dan mampu meningkatkan kemandirian melalui pendekatan model LP-Simpleks. Hasil penelitian dengan metode LP-Simplek menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi produksi pada tiga varian terdiri atas Produksi Bantal Leher (X) adalah 28 buah, produksi Bantal Sandaran Mobil (Y) adalah 28 buah, serta Produksi Bantal Bulat (Z) adalah 13 buah. Dengan kombinasi tersebut akan mampu memperoleh profit kurang lebih Rp. 204.607.200,00 dalam setiap bulannya. Artinya dengan menerapkan model LP-Simpleks pelaku usaha kecil memproduksi berdasarkan jumlah produk denganmemperhatikan total biaya dengan hasil yang optimal pada masing-masing variannya, sehingga ketika model ini dikembangkan maka akan mampu meningkatkan kemandirian ekonomi yang berdaulat bagi pelaku usaha kecil, tenaga kerja, dan akan mampu menopang perekonomian masing-masing elemen yang menghasilkan kemandirian ekonomi yang berdaya saing.
