Abstract

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood product obtained by centrifugation. PRP is characterized by a high concentration of growth factors, which are known to promote tissue healing, influence angiogenesis, and exhibit immunomodulatory effects without causing significant adverse reactions. Consequently, PRP has been used in various medical specialties, including neurology, in recent years. This review aimed to provide an overview of the current evidence on the use of PRP to promote axonal regeneration. An extensive literature search was conducted across several databases, including PubMed and Google Scholar, using keywords such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-concentrated plasma, platelet-rich growth factors, and axonal regeneration. A detailed analysis of the relevant studies was performed, and the data were meticulously extracted and analyzed. Studies have indicated that PRP may have promising potential to facilitate nerve regeneration. Specifically, PRP has been shown to be effective in protecting nerves, preventing neuronal apoptosis, and stimulating vascular and axonal regeneration. Furthermore, PRP regulates inflammatory responses in the microenvironment, which may further contribute to its potential benefits in nerve regeneration. Understanding the biology, mechanism of action, classification of PRP, and its role in axonal regeneration is crucial for clinicians to gain a complete understanding of this therapeutic approach and appropriately interpret available data on PRP.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of disaster education on students' disaster preparedness and challenges in implementation. The research method used is literature review or library research by searching for reference data via the Google Scholar search engine. Based on literature review data, it is known that disaster education is successful in increasing students' preparedness for disasters. This was found from several references which found that there was an increase in students' knowledge of natural disasters after receiving disaster education. There are also challenges in disaster education which are divided into two types, namely internal challenges and external challenges. Internal challenges come from within the organizer of disaster education, in this case the school environment, while external challenges come from outside the school that provides disaster education.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the Tuberculosis Sign and Symptom Score in comparison to chest radiography and rapid molecular testing among brick kiln workers in Pringsewu Regency. Patients and methods: This study uses a cross-sectional design. This study used a total sampling method, with total samples are 92. The study was conducted from February to March 2024 in a brick kiln located in Saribumi Village, Gading Rejo District, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province. Results: The sample in this study consists of 92 subjects. The majority of the sample is female, accounting for 77.3%, while males make up 22.8%. The most common age range is 41-60 years, representing 48.9% of the total. In terms of job categories, most workers are employed in the molding section. The screening with TBSS score and chest radiography yielded a sensitivity of 0.25, specificity of 0.93, positive predictive value of 0.14, and negative predictive value of 0.96. The sensitivity and specificity between the RTM test and TB ss score cannot be assessed because the results of the RTM examination showed that all respondents were negative for TB. Conclusion: All sputum examinations using rapid molecular testing (RMT) showed negative results. Its preventing the assessment of sensitivity and specificity for this method. This discrepancy may be due to suboptimal sample quality.

Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety in preoperative patients can cause worsening of hemodynamic conditions to complications, in the form of dialysis imbalance syndrome. Preoperative patient anxiety can be influenced by several factors, including patient characteristics. This study aims to determine the relationship between patient characteristics and major preoperative anxiety at Cut Meutia North Aceh Hospital for the September-November 2023 period. Methods: This is observational analytical quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The total sample in this study was 105 patients with obstetric, gynecological and urological surgery. Sampling in this study uses a purposive sampling technique. The data obtained was analyzed by the Spearman Rank correlation test. Data collection used observation sheets and questionnaires of the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Results: The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents in this study were elderly men (55-90 years old) with marital status and severe poverty category as many as 58 respondents (55.2%). Most respondents with secondary education and an income of < 5 million. The results of the relationship analysis showed that there was a relationship between age and the level of preoperative anxiety with a value of p = 0.038 and a correlation coefficient (r = -0.203) with a negative direction, meaning that the older the patient, the less anxiety the patient would be and vice versa. From the analysis, it was also obtained that there was a relationship between income and pre-operative anxiety with p = 0.028 and a correlation coefficient value (r = -0.214) with a negative direction, meaning that the lower the income, the higher the anxiety experienced by the patient and vice versa. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between age and income and major preoperative anxiety.

Abstract

The global prevalence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EO-CRC) has exhibited a notable upward trend, thereby emerging as a significant concern within the realm of public health. The clinical, genetic, molecular, and histological characteristics of this condition indicate that it may be a separate entity, exhibiting a higher level of aggression. Nevertheless, it appears that both genetic and environmental risk factors play a role in the observed epidemiological change in the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC). Further evidence is required to elucidate the etiology of EO-CRC and to formulate effective screening and management approaches. The management of colorectal cancer in young adults is an unmet clinical need, given that the disease may result in the greatest loss of years of life in this demographic upon diagnosis. The incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) in people under 50 has been rising annually since early 1990 at a rate of 2%. Since the frequency of CRC has been declining overall, the rise in the disease's incidence among young adults is especially concerning. The primary tumor of early-onset colorectal cancer (CRC) is located on the left side of the colon and is associated with poorer cell differentiation, a higher prevalence of signet ring cell histology, and an advanced stage at diagnosis. 20% of patients have familial colorectal cancer (CRC), and about 30% of patients have tumors containing mutations that cause hereditary cancer predisposing syndromes. 20% of patients have familial colorectal cancer (CRC), and about 30% of patients have tumors containing mutations that cause hereditary cancer predisposing syndromes.

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a prevalent pathogen that frequently infects broiler chickens, with treatment typically involving the use of antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance refers to the ability of bacteria to withstand the effects of these drugs. This study aims to assess the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant S. aureus in broiler chicken meat sold at Traditional Market in Banda Aceh City. Employing a cross-sectional study, samples were collected through purposive sampling. A total of 100 breast meat samples from broiler chickens sourced from traditional markets in Banda Aceh City were analyzed. The antibiotics tested in this study included ampicillin, streptomycin, ciprofloxacin, and erythromycin. All positive isolates of S. aureus underwent MRSA testing. Data were analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that out of the 100 samples, 10 tested positives for Staphylococcus aureus. Of these, four samples exhibited resistance to erythromycin (40%), two samples were resistant to ampicillin (20%), and one sample showed resistance to streptomycin (10%), while all ten samples were sensitive to ciprofloxacin (100%). Out of the 10 MRSA isolates analyzed, the mecA gene was detected in one isolate. Consequently, it can be concluded that broiler chicken meat sold in traditional markets in Banda Aceh City demonstrates varying levels of resistance to several antibiotics.

Abstract

Histone H4 acetylation is an epigenetic change that regulates gene expression and is linked to a variety of neurological functions. The purpose of this study was to see how different types of early life stress affected histone H4 acetylation in the left prefrontal cortex (PFC) of mice. Histone acetylation levels were determined using Western blot analysis in four groups: control, control isolation, chronic stress, and chronic unpredictable stress. The control group comprised of mice that were not disturbed from birth until weaning, whereas the control isolation group was isolated after weaning. The chronic stress group was separated from their mothers on a daily basis, whereas the chronic unpredictable stress group was separated from their mothers on specified weekdays. Stress, according to our findings, may raise histone modification levels, whereas routine and repetitive stress situations may produce habituation behavior as a compensatory mechanism. Notably, this study provides preliminary evidence that different types of stress alter H4 acetylation in the PFC in mice. Understanding the molecular mechanisms governing histone acetylation in response to early life stress can offer light on the neurobiological processes at work and help to create tailored therapies for stress-related illnesses.
