Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a project-based instructional video for embroidery ornament design using CorelDRAW to improve university students' practical competencies in vocational fashion education. A Research and Development approach employing the Four-D (4D) model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) was implemented. The product was validated by two media experts and three content experts, followed by practicality testing involving students and a lecturer. Effectiveness was examined using a one-group pretest-posttest design with 30 undergraduate students. Data were analyzed using Aiken's V, descriptive statistics, normalized gain, and paired-samples t-test. The instructional video demonstrated high validity and practicality and significantly improved students' learning outcomes, with a moderate N-gain and a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001). The developed instructional video is a valid, practical, and effective digital learning resource for enhancing psychomotor competencies in embroidery ornament design

Abstract

Being able to last through a race is largely determined through training and endurance ability in swimming. Sleep is also a way to improve recovery and thus is regarded as a way to modify recovery and support adaptation to cardiorespiratory activities of young athletes by experts. Not many studies have looked at this relationship between sleep quality and sport performance in adolescent swimmers from clubs compared to that of elite swimmers or college players. Through this study, we wanted to establish whether or not sleep and cardio capacity can go hand in hand with our teenage swimmers from Ladies Swimming Club. We applied a numerical correlational model to the situation and a complete sampling of the population as only 10 swimmers were on the register (ages 13 to 17, mean age was 14.8 and SD was ±1.48). The instrument employed to evaluate sleep quality of athletes during the study was the Pittsburgh Sleepiness Scale (PSQI) and VO₂max was calculated from the Multistage Fitness Test (Bleep Test) using Ramsbottom formula. Analysis of the data included the Shapiro-Wilk test of normality and then the Pearson correlation if there was no departure from normal distribution. Findings: The PSQI range was 2 to 13 (M = 6.30, SD = 3.09); 60% of swimmers were considered as having a good sleeping habit while the remaining 40% slept not too well. The estimated VO₂max values varied from 33.32 to 53.50 ml/kg/min (M = 44.54; SD = 7.51). Both PSQI and VO₂max measures were within the normal distribution (PSQI: W = 0.909, p = 0.271; VO₂max: W = 0.876, p = 0.118). The result shows that there was a strong and negative relationship between PSQI and VO₂max with a significant statistical level (r = -0.910, p = 0.00025), meaning that sleep quality was the major reason behind such variations in endurance (R² = 0.8288). Our findings demonstrated that sleep quality is linked with cardiorespiratory endurance. Lower quality sleep was associated with lower endurance. Areas of use: It would be beneficial for coaches and other professionals involved in athletes' development or training to include the monitoring of athletes' night time sleep and provide education on sleeping habits into their daily routines, since they are responsible for a large part of the training plan and hence of the athletes' period and recovery as well.

Abstract

This study examined the direct effect of feedback assessment on student performance and its indirect effect through learning motivation among vocational high school students. A quantitative causal research design was employed involving 299 students selected through proportional simple random sampling from two public vocational high schools in Kecamatan IV Jurai, Indonesia. Data on feedback assessment and learning motivation were collected using validated Likert-scale questionnaires, while student performance was measured using mid-semester examination scores. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis. Feedback assessment significantly influenced learning motivation (β = 0.686, p < 0.001), whereas its direct effect on student performance was not significant (β = 0.002, p = 0.976). Learning motivation significantly predicted student performance (β = 0.197, p = 0.013) and mediated the relationship between feedback assessment and student performance. Learning motivation is a key mechanism through which feedback assessment contributes to improved academic performance in vocational education

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of transformative pedagogy in Christian Religious Education (CRE) through discipleship communities to foster holistic student character formation in Christian higher education. A qualitative literature review was conducted using a theological-pedagogical hermeneutic approach. Data were collected from peer-reviewed journal articles, books, biblical texts, and theological documents related to transformative pedagogy, discipleship, and Christian character formation. The data were analyzed through literature selection, thematic analysis, and theological-pedagogical synthesis. The findings indicate that discipleship communities provide a structured, relational, and faith-based learning environment that effectively integrates theological learning, spiritual growth, moral development, and character formation. Discipleship communities should be recognized as an integral pedagogical model in Christian Religious Education, offering a transformative framework that systematically integrates theological knowledge, character formation, and missional practice to strengthen Christian higher education.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of digital poster-assisted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in improving students' creativity and learning engagement in Pancasila Education. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed involving 68 tenth-grade students, equally assigned to experimental and control groups. Data were collected through observation sheets and essay tests and analyzed using paired-samples t-test, independent-samples t-test, normalized gain (N-Gain), and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The experimental group achieved significantly higher creativity (t = 14.662, p < 0.001) and learning engagement (t = 13.139, p < 0.001) than the control group. Moderate N-Gain scores were obtained for creativity (60.65%) and learning engagement (59.46%), compared with 14.43% and 15.57% in the control group. MANOVA further confirmed a significant simultaneous effect of digital poster-assisted PjBL on both variables (Wilks' Lambda = 0.158, F = 173.150, p < 0.001), with large effect sizes for creativity (η² = 0.765) and learning engagement (η² = 0.723). Digital poster-assisted PjBL is an effective student-centered instructional approach for enhancing creativity and learning engagement while supporting the development of twenty-first-century competencies in Pancasila Education

Abstract

Requests that schools become more relevant, more civically involved, and more rooted in local areas have generated a fresh intellectual interest in place-based learning. Although social studies education seems to be one of the area’s most suitable to this kind of approach, it is rather unclear to what extent it actually happens. The paper presents a systematic literature review of studies reporting on the use of place-based learning in social studies education together with the outcomes and the enabling circumstances that were identified. After following the recommendations of the PRISMA 2020 statement and scanning the Scopus database in a structured way, 255 studies, including duplicates, were found. The records were then deduplicated, and titles, abstracts, and full papers were scrutinized to identify those matching the eligibility criteria. Eighteen research and conceptual papers published between 2021 and 2026 were finally selected, and a thematic synthesis was used to obtain themes that can be generalized. Results show that place-based learning is mainly conducted using community-based collaborations, local-heritage and archival investigations, and field-based geographic investigations. It is also consistently linked to gains in civic responsibility, conceptual grasp, and emotional involvement, and at the same time it helps teacher training. A different understanding of place from that of most mainstream theories came out as a unique theoretical thread: Indigenous and decolonial ideas of place. The study also highlights areas where research could be made more methodologically sound and equitable. A number of educational topics, such as curriculum development, teacher education, and policy, are also discussed, and a list of possible research topics related to longitudinal, comparative, and outcome-based research is suggested.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a life skills-based teaching factory model for photography training in the Kejar Paket C equivalency program to address the limited application of teaching factory in nonformal education. The study employed development research using the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model. The model was tested through limited and wider field trials involving learners from two Community Learning Centers in East Java. Data were collected using validated instruments and analyzed through expert validation, paired-sample t-tests, and normalized gain scores. The model was rated highly feasible and practical by experts, tutors, and learners. It also produced significant improvements in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning outcomes across both trial stages. The life skills-based teaching factory model is feasible, practical, and effective for photography training in nonformal equivalency education, providing an evidence-based framework for integrating vocational competence and life skills within Community Learning Centers.

Abstract

The ability to manage an organization effectively is recognized as an important factor determining results at club-level sports. However, most studies about organization management in sports focus on large urban sports clubs based in Western countries and not many empirical works address the management function of small, local martial arts clubs in developing countries. How the four traditional management functions planning, organizing, actuating and controlling (POAC) are carried out in small community-based martial arts organizations located in developing regions is still unknown. Purpose: By exploring stakeholders views on the use of POAC-based management in a karate training center in West Pasaman Regency of Indonesia, this paper gives a first picture of a local club management situation that has, until now, never had any performances or data on management documented. Methods: A study that describes a specific situation quantitatively without drawing generalizations was done. As the total population of people involved (20) was rather small, all people that participated: athletes, coaches and administrators, were chosen for a survey through Total Sampling (a census of the entire available population, i.e., complete enumeration rather than qualitative data saturation). A questionnaire with the Likert-type format was used asking for opinion on the four domains of the POAC theory. The results were shown as mean figures, percentiles and norm-referenced distribution. Reliability (Cronbach's alpha) and validity evidence for the questionnaire were not formally assessed in this study; this is acknowledged as a limitation and discussed further below. Results: Stakeholders' perceptions on the entire POAC implementation score were between 176 and 188 (mean, 182.3 and standard deviation, 3.71). When using this study's categories of norms, 45% of the responders assessed the implementation as "Very good" or "Good," 25% as "Adequate," 25% as "Poor," and 5% as "Very poor," indicating, overall, a positive but non-uniform reaction. Conclusion: The overall opinion of the stakeholders on how the club's management was implemented was very good or good. A significant proportion of respondents also mentioned weaknesses in two specific aspects, namely, lack of communication or coordination between administrative staff and coaches and the absence of an athlete-progress review being carried out periodically.
