Abstract

Humans are considered as the most perfect creatures physiologically and psychologically to survive and socialize with one another. However, sometimes people do not realize that there is an enormous power that governs the universe and everything in it. How the planets rotate in the solar system around the sun; how the seasons change; and how everything happens perfectly are the evidences that show the power beyond humans’control. From this evolves the belief in God as the creator and controller of the universe. When people are able to do something, they tend not to feel the intervention of God in their work and forget to be grateful, but when people feel powerless or are approaching death, then they feel the force beyond their control of this life, which is God. Besides humans also want answers to the questions that are beyond their intellectual reach. Obviously science can not provide answers. Because everything comes from God, only God knows the absolute truth. Such understanding leads to something that people call religion. That is why humans really need religion to satisfy their spiritual thirst and to meet the spiritual needs of human beings.Basically all religions are the same. They teach people to believe in God. All of them teach kindness and respect to parents and fellow human beings. They suggest to give charity and not steal or fornicate. Religions lead their followers to walk in the right way. Religion with the most followers include Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism and Buddhism. A person usually embraces only one religion and is supposed to be like that. The said religion is usually  attached to the person since he was born. However every person has the right to decide for himself which religion he wants to believe. Through a religion, a person tries to understand the meaning of life and what is happening in his life.Literary works can offer the best representation of life, and a novel is one kind of literary works that is closest to the public because the storyline is not far from the reality of people's lives. A novel can also give a moral message with intangible religious values, including the belief in God. One of the novels that tell the power of God in human’s life is Yann Martel’s Life of Pi. This novel is about a young Indian boy, Piscine Molitor Patel (Pi) who is in search of a belief to follow in life. Confusion causes Pi to try to embrace all the new religions he recently knows and alternately believes to be right. His confusion about religions is still going on until he is adult. This novel tells not only about religion but also about human’s trust in God. These things lead to the conflicts in this story and make the novel interesting to examine more deeply.

Abstract

Latter Days is an American movie which can be considered as a reflection of social realitythat happens in the society nowadays. The movie showsone of social realities in this modern era which is called as sexual disorientation. Even though sexual disorientation has probably been a common issue in this era, there are still many people who consider sexual disorientation as taboo.

Abstract

Bahasa yang dimengerti ataupun yang digunakan anak masih sederhana, misalnya bahasa balita yang baru mulai sekolah, maka dari itu, orang dewasa harus pintar memilih dan merangkai kata dalam berkomunikasi dengan anak, terutama dalam memberikan perintah, agar anak dapat memahaminya sehingga ia dapat melaksanakan apa yang diperintahkan. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, penulis mengadakan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan strategi kesopanan guru-guru pra-sekolah di Jemema Islamic School Semarang dalam memproduksi tuturan yang mengandung perintah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi jenis kalimat perintah yang digunakan tiga guru terhadap murid pra-sekolah Jemema Islamic School Semarang berdasarkan Klasifikasi Vanderveken serta menganalisis strategi kesopanan yang ada di dalamnya dengan menggunakan teori “Politeness Strategy” dari Brown and Levinson, kemudian penulis menganalisis faktor-faktor dan dimensi sosial yang melandasi adanya strategi kesopanan tersebut dengan menggunakan teori dari Janet Holmes.

Abstract

Skripsi ini menganalisis tentang pengalaman traumatis dalam novel yang berjudul The Perks of Being a Wallfloweroleh Stephen Chbosky. Novel ini mendeskripsikan tentang kehidupan Charlie sebagaian akremaja yang mengalami pengalaman traumatis. Tujuan dari skripsi ini adalah untuk menjelaskan kepribadian dan pengalaman traumatis Charlie akibat dari kekerasan seksual. Metode yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode studipustaka dan pendekatan psikologi. Penulis menggunakan novel sebagai data utama dan beberapa sumber buku, jurnal dan sumber-sumber online sebagai data pendukung. Dalam menganalisis unsure intrinsik, penulis menggunakan tema, karakter, latar, dan konflik. Selain itu, untuk menganalisis unsure ekstrinsik, penulis menggunakan teori gangguan stress pasca trauma yang berasal dari Asosiasi Psikiatris Amerika. Berdasarkan Asosiasi Psikiatris Amerika, ada lima gejala gangguan stress pasca trauma: terpapar oleh pemicu stress, mengalami kembali peristiwa trauma, penghindaran, kebangkitan dan durasi terjadinya gejala. Hasil analisis membuktikan bahwa Charlie menderita gangguan stress pasca trauma. Kepribadian Charlie juga dipengaruhi oleh gejala-gejala dari gangguan stress pasca trauma.

Abstract

   Novel adalah salah satu bentuk refleksi atau pencerminan dari kebudayaan manusia dalam pergaulan sosial masyarakat. Novel identik dengan sebuah karya sastra yang berbentuk prosa, cukup panjang, dan cerita serta tokoh-tokoh di dalamnya mayoritas adalah fiktif atau tidak nyata. Sebuah novel yang telah beredar di pasaran dan dibaca oleh masyarakat pasti akan mendapatkan penilaian dari anggota masyarakat tersebut. Novel yang penulis ulas pada final project ini berjudul The Stepford Wives karangan penulis novel dari Amerika Serikat, Ira Levin. Ira Levin telah menulis tujuh novel dan salah satunya adalah novel The Stepford Wives. Novel ini berkisah tentang perjuangan seorang wanita bernama Joanna Eberhart yang berusaha mengubah pola pikir istri-istri Stepford ke pola pikir yang lebih modern dan lebih luas dengan membentuk suatu organisasi perempuan. Pada book review ini, penulis membahas mengenai alur, cerita dan keberhasilan serta bahasa dari novel. Melalui book review novel The Stepford Wives, penulis berharap agar novel ini dapat dibaca oleh banyak pembaca dan para pembaca merasa tertarik dengan novel ini. Simpulannya, dengan alur yang mudah dipahami dan cerita yang menarik untuk dibaca.

Abstract

From the discussion above the poem from Heinrich Heine “Of Pearls and Stars” is about love from the writer for the girl that he love. As we know, Heinrich Heine is one of the poet who a romantic person. He also a person who concern about anything about love that happened in reality life someone. I analyze this poem “Of Pearls and Stars is tell us about love. The writer use imagery and symbol to represent what he feel when he is falling in love. He imagine what he feel with stars and pearls, because he want to show that his love is more worthly then pearls and stars that showed the writer that love is so pure. In short, the poem use imagery and symbol are to make the poem more beautiful, meaningful and has characteristic of the poem.

Abstract

The writer interested on examines Andre Raditya’s motivational book due to its language exclusivity in presenting the materials. Usually, most of the motivational book writers are focusing on the book’s contents rather than the use of language. In this book, the author attracts his readers by using different style of language than the motivational book writers in general. The different style of writing is clearly seen on the graphological point of view by adding some effects, such as deliberate misspelling to present some specific meaning.

Abstract

Nowadays, people are getting consumptive because of impact ofadvertisements. Most of them do not know that the advertisements can changetheir perceptions toward a product. The product which is less popular before canrise highly because of attractive promotion derived by the advertisements. In theadvertisements, audiences are given not only the product’s information, but alsobrand image represented by a figure. In Marlboro advertisement published on July 25, 1969 in Time Magazineand Lucky Strike advertisement published on 1956 in TV Radio Mirror MagazineVol. 46 No. 1, for example, the figure shown is a man or men as genderpreference of the marketing target. However, each advertisement have differentconcept which leads into a more specific marketing target. From the analysisusing semiotics theory, it can be concluded that Marlboro is directed to maleaudiences who like freedom and nature while Lucky Strike is directed to maleaudiences whose lives cannot be separated from women and money. Thus, it givesdifferent images of both brands. Marlboro has an image of macho while LuckyStrike has an image of rich and romantic.

Abstract

Setiap manusia dikarunia pengetahuan yang berbeda-beda dalam proses pemerolehan bahasa. Dalam pemerolehan bahasa terdapat lima bidang didalam nya yaitu; kemapuan berbahasa dalam bidang fonologi, semantik, pragmatik, dan sintak. Tahapan pertama yang harus dilalui oleh setiap manusia dalam suatu proses pemerolehan bahasa adalah tahapan dalam bidang fonologi. Dalam skripsi ini, penulis tertarik untuk menganalisis bagaimana proses pemerolehan fonologi pada anak berusia 2-4 tahun sebagai bahan penelitian. Hal yang menjadi fokus dalam skripsi ini adalah bagaimana proses pemerolehan fonologi pada anak usia 2-4 tahun, untuk mengetahui hal ini, penulis menggunakan teori proses pemerolehan fonologi dari Ingram, Piaget, dan Jakobson. Dalam menginterpretasi data penulis juga menggunakan teori behaviorist dan natives’ dari psikolinguistik untuk menemukan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi proses pemerolehan tersebut. Penulis membatasi persoalan hanya pada analisa terhadap pemerolehan fonologi anak. Proses pemerolehan fonologi tersebut digunakan untuk melihat perubahan suara atau fonem yaitu substitution processes, assimilation processes, and syllable structure processes yang terjadi pada saat seorang anak mulai mengucapkan suatu ujaran. Tujuan penelitian skripsi ini adalah untuk menjelaskan proses pemerolehan fonologi pada anak usia 2-4 tahun serta menemukan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Data yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah berupa ujaran atau kata yang diucapkan oleh anak berusia 2-4 tahun. Metode pengambilan sample menggunakan recording technique via hand phone and purposive sampling. Note method yaitu untuk mentranskripsikan, mencatat, atau menuliskan kembali data yang telah direkam ke dalam bentuk tulisan atau transkripsi. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa seorang anak dalam memperoleh fonologi, cenderung menciptakan struktur pengucapannya sendiri yang disebut substitution processes. Selain itu, pengaruh atau faktor dari lingkungan juga sangat mempengaruhi proses pemerolehan fonologi anak usia 2-4 tahun.
