Abstract

Congestion is one of the problems often encountered in Ambon City, one of which is at the intersection of four intersections between Jl. Dr. Kayadoe, Jl. Dr. Siwabessy, and Jl. Dr. Sitanala, where at certain times there are often delays and even queues of vehicles because this area includes residential, shopping, office, and educational areas so that the traffic flow is quite busy. This study aims to determine the performance of the four-arm unsignalized intersection using the PKJI 2023 Method, to determine the growth in the number of vehicles in 2043, and to determine the traffic management efforts used to handle intersection conditions. The results of the study showed that the traffic volume was 2,238.20 pcu/hour, the degree of saturation was 0.39 which means it is included in the category of service level B, the intersection delay value was 9.30 sec/vehicle and the queue opportunity value with an upper limit range of 17.94 to a lower limit of 7.14. Meanwhile, the results of motor vehicle projections using the least square method show that the number of motor vehicles in 2043 or the next 20 years will be 969,073 vehicles, so traffic management efforts must be started early considering the projected growth of vehicles which is increasing from year to year.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are infectious diseases that affect both the upper and lower respiratory tracts, ranging from mild to severe conditions, and can potentially lead to death, especially in children under five. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of ARI among children under five in the working area of Puskesmas Perawatan Tiley in 2023. This was an analytical quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 266 mothers of children under five. A total of 73 respondents were selected using proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The findings showed significant associations between ARI incidence and exposure to cigarette smoke (P=0.000≤0.1), air ventilation (P=0.018≤0.1), and housing density (P=0.000≤0.1). However, there was no significant association between immunization status (P=0.726≥0.1) and ARI incidence. It is recommended that the health center strengthen health promotion efforts related to ARI prevention and educate the community on healthy housing conditions, particularly concerning adequate ventilation, avoiding overcrowding, and the dangers of cigarette smoke exposure to children.

Abstract

The research was conducted over a period of one month in the waters of Tobelo with the aim of identifying fish species caught using purse seine fishing gear and determining the variation in species numbers and total catch during the research in the waters of Tobelo, North Halmahera Regency. This study is an experimental fishing study with data analysis in the form of identification and quantitative descriptive statistics to explain the composition of purse seine catch based on data using histograms and tables. The results of the study showed that the pelagic fish species caught were skipjack tuna (Euthynnus affinis), Spanish mackerel (Elagatis bipinnulata), yellowfin tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), mackerel (Decapterus spp.), and mackerel (Rastrelliger spp.), where mackerel and mackerel were the dominant pelagic fish species in the catch during the study. This was due to various factors, including migratory patterns that tend to form schools and abundant food sources.

Abstract

This article examines the use of GPS technology by the Rimoi fishing community on Ternate Island to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of tuna fishing operations. GPS technology serves as a navigation tool that makes it easier for fishermen to determine fishing locations more accurately and quickly, thereby reducing search time and operational costs, including fuel consumption. After training in GPS use, fishermen were able to systematically mark productive locations, which previously depended on experience and traditional methods. The results of implementation showed an increase in catch of around 30% and an increase in income of 20% in the first two months of GPS use. In addition to increasing productivity, the use of GPS also contributes to improved sailing safety by reducing the risk of poor navigation. This approach supports the sustainability of fishing businesses by optimizing resources and improving data-based work patterns. In conclusion, GPS integration has proven to be an effective solution in improving the economic and safety aspects of fishing, while supporting sustainable marine resource management.

This community service article discusses efforts to improve the quality of smoked fish products among the Polkhastar Semoga Berkah group in Ternate City, North Maluku. The main problems faced are low quality consistency, limited product diversification, and minimal use of digital marketing. Through a participatory approach, the community service activities included training on product quality improvement using GMP and SSOP standards, product diversification development such as smoked fish flakes, smoked fish sambal, and ready-to-eat instant products, as well as digital marketing training through social media and marketplaces. The results of the activities showed an improvement in product quality, diversification that expanded the market, and increased sales through digital platforms. In addition, strengthening the group's institutional capacity through business management training reinforced the sustainability of the business. In conclusion, the integration of quality improvement, diversification, and digital marketing is a holistic strategy to ensure the existence of fish processing groups in the digital era.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of a women's empowerment policy through home industry programs by the Office of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) in Ternate City. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and George C. Edwards III’s policy implementation theory, the study focuses on four dimensions: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The findings reveal that policy execution remains suboptimal. Communication tends to be one-directional, resource limitations persist, and inter-agency coordination is lacking. While implementers show strong commitment, fragmented bureaucracy hinders effective outcomes. The program is grounded in legal frameworks such as Regulation of the Minister of Women’s Empowerment No. 2/2016 and regional regulations issued by the Ternate City Government. This research highlights the need for enhanced two-way communication, inter-sectoral synergy, and capacity-building to ensure successful and sustainable local-level women’s empowerment initiatives.
