Abstract

This research employed a descriptive cross-sectional study design with an alpha of 0.05. The total population consisted of 33 respondents who were mothers of infants/toddlers. This study aimed to identify the internal and external factors influencing the low attendance of mothers with toddlers at the Posyandu in Bobo Village. The results indicated that an internal factor was mothers' fear of their children developing a fever after immunization, as reported by 20 respondents (60.6%), and an external factor was the absence of Supplementary Feeding (PMT), as reported by 26 respondents (78.8%). Therefore, it can be concluded that the decline in visits by mothers with toddlers to the Posyandu is influenced by both external and internal factors. Consequently, it is necessary for health workers, Posyandu cadres, and village officials to collaborate in order to enhance public knowledge and create other innovations that will attract the community to visit the Posyandu. Monitoring the Posyandu attendance rate is crucial because the active participation of mothers with toddlers in visiting the Posyandu will influence the stunting rate in Indonesia. It is expected that a high attendance rate or active participation at the Posyandu will contribute to a lower stunting rate in Indonesia, thereby achieving the goal of Zero Stunting in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to optimize the availability of ice to support the catch quality of fishermen in Bajo Village. This research objective is divided into two parts: first, to identify the constraints in ice production and distribution faced by fishermen in Bajo Village; and second, to develop strategies for optimizing ice availability for the fishermen. The study focuses on strengthening the post-harvest supply chain, particularly in the aspect of fish catch preservation through improved ice availability in Bajo Village. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method combined with participatory observation and interviews. This method is used to gather information regarding the condition of ice availability in Bajo Village, its role in maintaining the quality of fishermen’s catch, and to formulate optimization strategies in support of the Asta Cita vision and the Agromaritime Halmahera Selatan concept. The analysis in this study combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches, with several formulated models to describe the relationship between ice availability and catch sustainability. These include the Analysis of Ice Production and Distribution Constraints and the Analysis of Ice Availability Optimization Strategies. The analysis shows that the current ice availability ratio is only 0.42 kg of ice per kg of fish. Based on this ratio, the estimated daily ice requirement is 416.67 kg. This situation indicates that ice availability is severely inadequate, risking a decline in the quality of the catch.

Abstract

Generally, people use medical treatments, but the Tubo community has a different approach. They consider Salai Jin as a medium for healing and a prayer for the safety of their descendants. This study aims to describe the meaning of Salai Jin in Tubo Village and to identify how Salai Jin serves as a healing medium. This is a qualitative descriptive study conducted in Tubo Village, North Ternate. The subjects of the research are traditional leaders. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, document analysis, and documentation. Interviews were conducted directly with the traditional leader in Tubo Village, followed by observations of Fala Sou, or the house believed to be the residence of the Jinn. The research findings reveal that Salai Jin signifies the summoning of spirits/jin through dance/salai for specific purposes such as healing illnesses and seeking protection and safety for their descendants. Additionally, Salai Jin was initially also understood as a ritual to fight against colonizers, as using just machetes and shields was not powerful enough. Therefore, the existence of Salai Jin provided protection.

Abstract

Environmental health is an ideal condition that has a positive impact on public health, including housing, waste disposal, clean water supply, and wastewater and solid waste management. Inadequate waste management, low ownership of wastewater disposal systems, and limited basic sanitation education are the main problems of environmental sanitation in Doyado Village. The purpose of this study is to describe the basic sanitation conditions of the community in Doyado Village, Tidore City in 2025. The research method used is a descriptive approach. The study population includes all 292 census buildings in Doyado Village. The study sample consisted of 169 households selected by stratified random sampling. The results showed significant results. The majority of households use protected dug wells as their primary water source (85 households (50.3%). Fifty-eight households (34.3%) do not treat their drinking water before consumption. Most households in Doyado Village have private toilets used exclusively by their own family members (129 households (76.33%). The most common method of waste disposal is burning (38.5%). Another relatively common method is throwing waste into rivers or waterways, at 24.9%. Community efforts to prevent mosquito-borne diseases are dominated by the use of mosquito coils, mosquito spray, or electronic mosquito repellents, which are used by 82.8% of the 169 households. It is recommended that local governments and communities collaborate to implement sanitation improvement programs, including the implementation of hygienic sanitation practices, to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment.

Abstract

School snacks play a significant role in meeting daily energy needs, yet unhealthy snack consumption remains prevalent among elementary school students. Nutrition education is needed to improve students' knowledge and attitudes regarding healthy snack choices. This study aimed to analyze the effect of game card-based nutrition education on elementary school students' knowledge and attitudes about healthy snacks in Ternate City. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 51 fifth-grade students, divided into an experimental group (27 students) and a control group (24 students), selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection used a knowledge test and attitude questionnaire before and after the intervention. The experimental group received game card-based nutrition education, while the control group received nutrition education using PowerPoint presentations. Data analysis was performed using an independent t-test and a Mann–Whitney test with a significance level of p-value <0.05. The results showed a significant difference in knowledge gain between the experimental and control groups (p-value = 0.001), with a higher increase in knowledge in the experimental group. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in attitude improvement between the two groups after the education (p-value = 0.002). It was concluded that game card-based nutrition education significantly improved elementary school students' knowledge and attitudes about healthy snacks. Game card media can be recommended as an effective and applicable alternative nutrition education medium for school health promotion programs.
