Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of library management at SMP Negeri 1 Rejang Lebong, covering planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. The goal of the library management at this school is to improve the quality of educational services by providing an effective and efficient library. The planning by the head librarian includes preparing short-term, medium-term, and long-term work plans, as well as developing the collection according to the curriculum needs and students' reading interests. Organizing involves assigning tasks to library staff based on expertise, managing human and physical resources, and arranging library facilities. The library's work program includes distributing textbooks to students at the beginning of the semester, acquiring new books every year, and conducting literacy activities to enhance students' reading interest. The implementation of library activities emphasizes regular and orderly book borrowing, as well as supporting educational programs. Evaluation is routinely carried out by the head librarian and the school to ensure the quality of library services. The results show that the library management at SMP Negeri 1 Rejang Lebong has been running well, although there are some challenges such as low student reading interest and book management issues. Efforts for improvement continue to be made to enhance the professionalism of library managers, service quality, and collaboration with other parties to systematically and purposefully achieve the library's goals.

Abstract

Libraries, as information institutions, are required to adapt to the latest technological developments continuously. One of the efforts made by libraries is to implement automation systems to manage library services effectively. With an automation system, various library services can be completed in a very short time, even in minutes or seconds. A popular automation system used by libraries is the Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS). Ngudi Ilmu Library has adopted SLiMS to manage its services. This research aims to determine how practical the application of library automation systems is in library service management at Ngudi Ilmu Library in Ngemplak. The research method used is qualitative research with data analysis from interviews with librarians from Ngudi Ilmu Library in Ngemplak as sources. The results of the study show that the implementation of SLiMS at Ngudi Ilmu Library has a significant impact. The implementation of SLiMS greatly assists librarians in managing various library services, especially circulation services. With the automation system, the circulation process can be carried out quickly and efficiently.  Keywords: automation system, services, library

Abstract

This study discusses Library Strategy in Increasing Visiting Interest in the Library and Archives Service of Pacitan Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the strategies implemented by the Pacitan Regency Service to increase visiting interest and the obstacles faced. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study. The subjects of this study were the Head of Service, librarians, and users of the Library and Archives Service of Pacitan Regency. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis carried out were data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the Library and Archives Service of Pacitan Regency carried out collection development strategies, local element strengthening strategies, and library promotion strategies to increase visiting interest of users. Meanwhile, the constrains faced by the Library and Archives Service of Pacitan Regency were low reading interest, low community responsibility towards public property, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, lack of budget, and lack of human resources and expertise. Abstract

Lingkungan hutan merupakan salah satu dari sekian banyak ekosistem di Indonesia. Salah satu permasalahan yang dianggap sulit diatasi adalah penebangan liar di hutan lindung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi isu penebangan liar, mengidentifikasi permasalahan yang dihadapi, serta memetakan dan memahami dinamika perkembangan topik tersebut. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menemukan area yang masih memerlukan kajian lebih lanjut. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif melalui kajian pustaka dan analisis bibliometrik, dengan data diperoleh dari Google Scholar menggunakan perangkat lunak Publish or Perish dari tahun 2022 hingga 2024. Visualisasi jaringan bibliometrik dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak VOSviewer untuk mengidentifikasi tema-tema utama dalam penelitian. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 996 publikasi terkait topik penebangan liar yang terindeks di Google Scholar. Kata kunci “penebangan liar” merupakan istilah yang paling sering muncul dalam penelitian-penelitian tersebut, sementara beberapa kata kunci lain, seperti “kerusakan hutan”, “bakau”, dan sebagainya, masih kurang mendapat perhatian. Temuan ini membuka peluang bagi pengembangan penelitian baru pada aspek-aspek yang kurang dikaji. Studi ini juga berkontribusi dalam membantu akademisi memahami arah dan tren penelitian tentang penebangan liar, yang dapat menghasilkan ide-ide inovatif untuk penelitian masa depan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of mental health literacy through social media among senior high school students. A literature review method was employed to analyze various credible sources, including academic journals, articles, and research reports. The findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube have significant potential as interactive and accessible educational tools to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of mental health. Social media also contributes to stigma reduction and provides a safe space for sharing experiences. However, several challenges arise, including low digital literacy, the spread of misinformation, cases of cyberbullying, and a lack of guidance from teachers and parents. Recommended implementation strategies include developing creative educational content, collaborating with digital influencers, and integrating mental health literacy into the school curriculum. The conclusion emphasizes the necessity of a collaborative and systematic approach involving schools, families, mental health communities, and social media platforms to optimize the digital ecosystem as a sustainable tool for supporting adolescent psychological well-being.

Abstract

In the digital era characterized by the rapid and massive flow of information, society faces a serious challenge in the form of the widespread dissemination of false information or hoaxes. This condition demands an increase in digital literacy as a fundamental ability for individuals to filter, evaluate, and use information wisely. This study aims to analyze the role of digital literacy in countering the spread of hoaxes, particularly among active social media users. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach based on various secondary data sources such as scientific articles, research reports, and official data. The results show that digital literacy which includes the ability to understand sources of information, recognize the characteristics of hoaxes, and think critically about digital content is highly effective in reducing the negative impact of false information. Furthermore, early digital literacy education, training for teachers and educators, and public campaigns by the government and civil society organizations are essential strategies in building society’s information resilience. This study recommends the integration of digital literacy into formal and non-formal education curricula to create a society that is resilient to hoaxes and capable of participating responsibly in the digital space.

Abstract

This study analyzes the workload of functional librarians at the Library Technical Implementing Unit (UPA) of Riau University. The aim is to identify the librarians' main duties and responsibilities, analyze the level of workload, and provide strategic recommendations for optimizing job allocation. The research employed a mixed-method approach using a case study design, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Data collection involved observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research findings indicate that: 1) The main duties and responsibilities carried out by librarians at the UPA Library of Riau University are grouped into four major functions: collection processing/technical services, user/patron services, education and information literacy development, and library management and administration. 2) The workload of librarians at the UPA Library of Riau University is not proportionally distributed, with the majority of time (45%) consumed by technical tasks such as cataloging and classification. This gap creates an overload that triggers psychological challenges and hinders strategic duties such as self-development, information literacy education, and library promotion. 3) The study recommends three main steps: (a) Task redistribution to create a more balanced division of labor. (b) Competency improvement and technology adoption, such as automation, to reduce the manual workload. (c) Performance evaluation based on outcomes to encourage a focus on tasks with greater impact. This study contributes by presenting specific empirical data and tailored solutions for the UPA Library of Riau University, which can serve as a foundation for management in enhancing library efficiency and service quality.

Abstract

A library is a part of an educational establishment that supports learning, research, and publications by offering different types of information in accordance with user needs. Users nowadays have undergone a drastic transformation along with the quick growth of information and communications technologies. Starting with their Internet-based information-seeking habits, how they pick up knowledge while playing games or listening to music, and how much fun they have working together and exchanging information online. The term "digital generation" is used to describe them. Digital libraries play a strategic role in strengthening community access to information through the provision of easily accessible and accurate digital information services. Research findings indicate that digital libraries can overcome time and space limitations in accessing information and contribute to the empowerment of digital literacy. Challenges such as infrastructure and human resource competencies need to be addressed to optimize this role.

Abstract

 The SNI Corner service in higher education libraries is an important source of standardization information for students, lecturers, and the general public. However, the effectiveness and efficiency of this service need to be evaluated to ensure its quality and relevance to user needs. This study aims to: 1. Identify the evaluation of input for the SNI Corner service, 2. Explain the evaluation process of the SNI Corner service, and 3. Describe the evaluation output of the SNI Corner service at the Riau University Library. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through data collection techniques including interviews, observations, questionnaires, and document studies. Data sources were obtained from the Sub-Coordinator of Services, administrative staff, and library users at Riau University. This study uses the System Analysis Evaluation Model, also known as the Management Evaluation Model, with stages of input, process, and output. The overall results of this study indicate that the SNI Corner service at the Riau University Library is functioning well and effectively. However, there are still some shortcomings in its implementation. In the Input stage, aspects that are not yet optimal include activity planning and human resources. In the Process stage, the aspect that is not yet optimal is the absence of a specific Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and promotional activities have not been optimally implemented. In the Output stage, the aspect that is not yet optimal is user satisfaction surveys, suggesting the addition of SNI Corner service components to the survey materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of literature management in the management of digital collections at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) Library to support effective information retrieval. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through documentation study, metadata analysis, and observation of digital systems, including Koha, the institutional repository, and the integrated search portal FIND@UMSLi. The findings indicate that digital collection management at the UMS Library refers to the guidelines of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), particularly in acquisition and information organization. The application of the Dublin Core metadata standard, combined manual and automated indexing, and integrated search systems contribute to improved organization and accessibility of digital collections. However, several challenges were identified, including limited funding, inconsistent metadata quality, delays in accessing scholarly articles, and limited technological competencies among librarians. These findings suggest that standardized literature management plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and sustainability of digital library services. Strengthening institutional policies, upgrading technological infrastructure, and improving librarians’ digital competencies are necessary to optimize digital collection management.
