Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the effectiveness of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) Learning Model as a strategy to improve students' descriptive text writing skills. The limitations of students in choosing diction, composing effective descriptive sentences, and organizing ideas are the main obstacles. The SAVI model is implemented to activate all student learning modalities, especially through physical (somatic) and visual experiences to enrich descriptions. The research uses a two-cycle Class Action Research (PTK). Data was collected through observation of the learning process, product assessment of descriptive text writing, and student response questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in the average value of descriptive text writing skills from the pre-action condition to Cycle II. This improvement proves that the SAVI Model is able to provide a holistic stimulus, effectively improving the creativity and quality of students' writing descriptions.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research investigates students' perceptions of the use of bilingual instruction (English-Indonesian) in teaching speaking at Class XII SMA Gunung Sari, Makassar. The study also examines the benefits of bilingual instruction in enhancing students' understanding and participation in English lessons. A descriptive research method was employed, using a questionnaire administered to 30 students. The findings reveal that most students have a positive attitude toward bilingual instruction, recognizing its benefits in facilitating comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and speaking skills

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research applied pre-experimental method. This thesis discusses Developing the Writing Ability of the Second Year Students of SMA Negeri 12 Bulukumba through the Use of Problem Based Illustration Strategy (An Experimental Research). The population was the second year students of SMA Negeri 12 Bulukumba. This research used one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was the second year students of SMA Negeri 12 Bulukumba and used cluster random sampling technique. Instrument of the research was writing test. The writing test consisted of pre-test and post-test is used to see the students writing ability after giving treatment. The result of this research is gotten by comparing the pre-test and post-test score, then analyzed it by using t-test formula and finally shows t-test = 17.63 than this value is measured into t-table with the level of significance (α) 0.05, degree of freedom (df) = 19, and finally it was found the value of t-table shows = 2.093. Based on the result, researcher concludes there is significance development in writing ability of the students after giving treatment.     Keywords: Problem Based Illustration Strategy, Writing Ability, Experimental Research

Abstract

This study aims to know how action songs are used to help elementary school students improve their English pronunciation in one of schools in Aceh. The study focuses on the problem that many students still have difficulty with English sounds, word stress, and rhythm, which makes it hard for them to speak clearly and confidently. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected from classroom observation and interviews with several students. The results show that action songs help students in many ways. Rhythm helps them say English words with correct stress and beats. Word repetition helps them remember sounds and improve pronunciation. Movements keep students active, reduce boredom, and help them connect sounds with meaning. Students with different ability levels showed improvement in pronunciation, confidence, and participation in class activities. This research concludes that action songs are a fun and useful technique for pronunciation practice for children, especially in classes with limited learning resources.

Abstract

This study explored the development of a principled framework for language materials development in order to align instructional resources with curriculum objectives, pedagogical principles, and learners’ needs. The problem addressed in this study was the lack of systematic guidance in designing materials that are not only linguistically accurate but also contextually relevant, engaging, and inclusive. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using document analysis of relevant literature and curriculum policy documents. The data were obtained from books, journal articles, and official guidelines related to materials development, educational theories, and the Merdeka Curriculum. The data were analyzed through thematic analysis by identifying and synthesizing key principles such as authenticity, learner engagement, scaffolding, formative assessment, cultural relevance, and technology integration. The findings indicated that a principled framework played a significant role in ensuring the effectiveness and coherence of teaching materials. The integration of theoretical foundations with curriculum requirements resulted in materials that supported learner autonomy, critical thinking, and meaningful language use. Furthermore, the study highlighted the importance of inclusivity and adaptability in diverse educational contexts. In conclusion, the developed framework provided practical guidance for educators and material developers to design effective, learner-centered, and contextually appropriate materials.

Abstract

This type of research a classroom action research that aims to improve writing skills through the picture series method in English language learning. The subjects of this study were 35 students of class IX SMP Budi Mulia. Mamuju district. The learning process is carried out during (online). The data collected consisted of data on student learning outcomes through learning outcomes tests in each cycle and data on student learning activities in learning through observations made. Student learning outcomes data were analyzed using means and percentages, while data on student learning activities were analyzed using procedure text analysis.The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in students' procedure text writing skills in each cycle. Based on the data on the diagnostic test results. the mean score ot students was 52.94 with a success percentage of 29%, cycle an average score of 58.82 and a success percentage of 56%. cycle Il with an average score of 66.26 and a success percentage ot 65%. while cycle the average value is 72.11 and the percentage of success is 82%. Based on the observations, the student learning activity data also experienced an increase. This can be seen from the students' responses to the material being taught. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the Picture Series Method can improve the procedure text writing skills of grade IX students of SMP Budi Mulia.

Abstract

Understanding English reading texts is a critical skill for secondary‑school learners, yet many students encounter persistent difficulties that impede academic success. This study investigates the specific problems faced by Indonesian senior high‑school students when reading English narrative and expository texts. A mixed‑methods design was employed: a questionnaire (N = 210) identified the frequency of comprehension obstacles, and semi‑structured interviews (n = 12) explored underlying causes. Quantitative results revealed that limited vocabulary, insufficient inferencing skills, and low metacognitive awareness were the most prevalent issues (p < .01). Qualitative analysis highlighted gaps in prior knowledge, ineffective reading strategies, and limited exposure to authentic texts. Findings suggest that incorporating multimodal resources and mobile‑learning (M‑learning) platforms can alleviate these problems. Implications for curriculum design and teacher training are discussed.
