Abstract

Smoking remains a major public health and socioeconomic concern in Indonesia, including the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study examined demographic, socioeconomic, and residential determinants of smoking behavior among residents aged 15 years and older using March 2024 National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) data. A quantitative descriptive-analytical design was applied to 10,729 respondents, and smoking status was analyzed using Probit regression with marginal effects. The results showed that age and education were negatively associated with smoking, while gender, marital status, employment status, and urban residence were positively associated with smoking probability. Welfare also showed a negative relationship and was significant at the 10% level. Gender had the largest marginal effect, with men having a 48.93 percentage-point higher probability of smoking than women. The Likelihood Ratio test confirmed that the explanatory variables were jointly significant, while the Pseudo R-squared value of 0.3726 indicated meaningful model performance. These findings support targeted tobacco-control strategies focused on younger populations, men, lower-educated groups, workers, economically vulnerable households, and urban communities. Integrated prevention, cessation support, workplace regulation, and accessible health education are essential for reducing smoking disparities.

Abstract

This study examines how regional languages and local-wisdom vocabulary function as linguistic and cultural capital within Indonesian community-based tourism. Using a conceptual narrative literature review, the study synthesizes Indonesian and comparative scholarship on language, cultural identity, local wisdom, tourism governance, and linguistic capital. The findings show that local expressions perform three major functions: signaling authenticity, maintaining collective identity, and generating symbolic, social, or economic value. Their conversion into tourism value depends on institutional support, language training, literacy, community participation, market recognition, infrastructure, and the strength of customary governance. The review also demonstrates that tourism may support language revitalization when communities retain control over representation, transmission, and commercialization. Conversely, weak governance, excessive commodification, and the dominance of global languages can reduce regional-language visibility and detach cultural expressions from their original social meanings. The study concludes that sustainable community-based tourism requires language to be treated not merely as a promotional tool but as a governed cultural resource whose ownership, transmission, and value remain anchored in the community. These findings extend linguistic-capital analysis by highlighting governance as the central condition shaping sustainable outcomes.

Abstract

Bibliometric profiles based on relevance-ranked searches may conflate patterns of research publication with patterns of record retrieval. This study examined the descriptive characteristics and interpretive limits of a bounded Crossref corpus on artificial intelligence in education. On 17 September 2026, the first 100 records returned for the query artificial intelligence education, restricted to journal articles published during 2016–2025, were obtained. Records were assessed in retrieval order, and the first 30 with an author field and the complete phrase artificial intelligence in their titles, excluding editorial or corrective items, formed the analytical corpus. Publication year, journal, authorship, Crossref citation counts, and seven non-exclusive title dictionaries were analysed descriptively. Twenty-six records (86.7%) were published in Computers and Education: Artificial Intelligence and four (13.3%) in the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education; 25 appeared during 2022–2025. School-related terms occurred in eight titles, teacher-related terms in five, and ethics-related terms in two. Median authorship was two, and the median recorded citation count was 100. These distributions reflect a fixed search and stopping rule, not population-wide publication frequencies. The study demonstrates how transparent metadata analysis can identify observable patterns while exposing the inferential constraints introduced by search formulation, ranked retrieval, and restrictive eligibility criteria.

Abstract

Indonesia experienced substantial secondary-school expansion between 2000 and 2024, but national participation parity does not establish equality in educational attainment. This study examined changes in female and male gross secondary enrolment and the temporal pattern of gender differences using a descriptive longitudinal analysis of 25 annual national observations from the World Development Indicators. Enrolment levels, endpoint changes, female-minus-male percentage-point gaps, female-to-male ratios, and descriptive Theil–Sen slopes were calculated. Female gross enrolment increased from 55.13% to 98.67% (43.54 percentage points), while male enrolment increased from 56.05% to 99.00% (42.95 points). The female-to-male ratio shifted from 0.984 to 0.997. Female gross enrolment exceeded male enrolment in 20 of 25 years; the largest female advantage was 2.74 points in 2023, whereas the largest male advantage was 2.05 points in 2013. Theil–Sen slopes were 2.07 and 2.04 points annually for females and males, respectively. These results identify substantial expansion for both sexes alongside reversible annual differences rather than uninterrupted gender convergence. National gross enrolment cannot establish age-appropriate attendance, completion, learning outcomes, or causal policy effects. The aggregate series also cannot reveal disparities across regions, household income groups, or learner characteristics. Educational equity assessment requires complementary disaggregated indicators of participation, retention, and achievement.
