Abstract

Backgroud:  This study aimed to develop two scales: one for wise leadership and other for self-management, for physical education teachers in Maysan Governorate Education Directorate. It also aimed to identify correlation between these two scales. Methods: The researchers used a descriptive approach with correlational analysis, as it was suitable for nature of objectives. Research community was defined as physical education teachers in Maysan Governorate Education Directorate in Amarah district, totaling 320 teachers, sample was selected purposively and consisted of 200 teachers, representing 62.50% of total population. Results: Physical education teachers exhibited high levels of both wise leadership (M = 167.325, SD = 6.108) and self-management (M = 158.414, SD = 6.715), both significantly exceeding theoretical midpoints (p < 0.001). Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated an extraordinarily strong, statistically significant positive correlation between wise leadership and self-management (r = 0.942, p < 0.001). Conclusions: The most important conclusions and recommendations of study were as follows:  study revealed a significant positive correlation between wise leadership and self-management among physical education teachers in Al-Amarah district. This indicates that applying principles of wise leadership directly contributes to self-improvement and self-management, and that physical education teachers possess a high level of wise leadership, which is reflected in their leadership qualities. This, in turn, contributes to improving their professional performance. The most important recommendations made by the researchers emphasized  need to strengthen  concept of wise leadership among educational leaders by holding specialized training courses and workshops to develop wise leadership, which has a positive impact on improving self-management. It also recommended providing a supportive organizational environment that encourages initiative and teamwork, which contributes to  development of wise leadership and self-management.

Abstract

Backgroud:  Many countries have begun attempting to modernize their educational systems with the implementation of modern teaching and instruction methods more effective in achieving educational outcomes. The development has been linked to the increasing influence of educational technology, which has led to the emergence of alternative teaching methods that are more in line with the characteristics of learners, their abilities and potential. These are designed to enhance the learning process and the quality of the final learning products. The significance of this research is to carry out the identification of the effectiveness of the implementation of the learning process in handball using the various learning methods and to identify the contribution of the various learning methods in acquiring basic skills in the learning process in handball. Methods: The researcher chose the experimental method, which was found to be suitable for the nature and purpose of the research, as it involved two separate and equivalent groups. The research subjects were middle school students in Grade 4, 5 and 6 in both scientific and literary sections, academic year 2023-2024. A total of 267 students participated in the study. The subjects of the research were fourth grade students of literature in the purposive sampling of two classes. Class (A) was instructed by the command method while class (B) with the cooperative method. The researcher was using a sample size of sixty-four (64) students for the two classes, of which thirty-two (32) students were in the first class and thirty-two (32) students in the second class, for the field experiment. Results: The results showed that both the command and cooperative teaching methods had a positive effect on learning some basic handball skills. The cooperative approach was more effective than command approach in acquiring basic handball skills under study especially in catching, passing and receiving the ball. From these results, the researcher suggests that the command method and the cooperative method be used to improve the learning process. Conclusions: The researcher also highlights the need to pay more attention to the cooperative approach in the instruction of selected basic handball skills because of its positive role in the improvement of students' learning and performance of skills.

Abstract

Backgroud:  The purpose of this research is to explore the influence of exercises performed in virtual reality on the formation of some specific cognitive and motor skills, and on floor exercises techniques in artistic gymnastics in students, and to find differences between training programs that use virtual reality and conventional ones. Methods: Experimental design has been used as the design of this study because of its correspondence to the study objectives. The sample consisted of 26 male students from Al-Jihad Preparatory School for Boys, Kirkuk Directorate of Education, and divided randomly into two equal groups; an experimental group and a control one, each consisted of 13 students. The experimental group had participated in an instructional program assisted with Virtual Reality (VR), while the other had followed traditional instructional program. Results: The data have been gathered using motor performance evaluation form, systematic observation, personal interview and video recording to test technical performance. Results showed a significant improvement from pre- to post-test in the learning of the selected artistic gymnastics skills, as well as statistical significance between post-tests of the two groups in favor of the experimental group. The authors explained such results due to the interactive environment provided by virtual reality, where visualization of technical performance, attention, involvement, and motivation towards learning are improved. Conclusions: Virtual Reality (VR)-assisted training programs significantly improve cognitive-motor skills and basic floor exercises techniques skills in artistic gymnastics compared to conventional programs.

Abstract

Backgroud:  The purpose of the current study was to identify the essence of the link between explosive strength and shooting accuracy in basketball. In the hypothesis, it was stated that the statistical correlation between these two characteristics would be revealed among the study participants. Methods: It was decided to use a descriptive research methodology based on the correlation analysis due to its suitability for the research problem. The research was conducted among a purposive sample of 70 second-year students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Samarra in the academic year of 2025-2026. Fieldwork included the assessment of the subjects' physical qualities as well as of their skill sets such as leg explosive strength and jump-shot accuracy after dribbling. Statistical analyses involved the computation of arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and the Pearson correlation coefficient through SPSS. Results: The obtained results revealed the presence of the significant positive correlation between explosive strength and shooting accuracy, with the Pearson correlation coefficient r being equal to 0.87 and significantly greater than 0.235 at 68 degrees of freedom and 0.05 significance level. The results obtained prove the idea that explosive strength enables the enhancement of motor stability and accuracy of the ball trajectory control. Conclusions: It can be concluded that further emphasis should be placed on the development of explosive strength and the combination of it with the skills of shooting. Furthermore, the additional studies should be conducted with regard to physical properties and their impact on sports performance.
