Abstract

Influence of cooperative on small scale enterprises performance is very crucial in facilitating credit access, promotion and development. It also aided small businesses in effectively utilizing the resources that were available. The study looked into small businesses' performance and cooperation in Lagos State, Nigeria's Ikorodu Zone. The design of the survey was descriptive. We gathered both primary and secondary data. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to schedule interviews and administer a well-structured questionnaire to 130 cooperative small-scale entrepreneurs. Descriptive and inferential statistical tools, including the mean, standard deviation, and Logit regression model, were used to analyze the collected data. The results demonstrated that operational difficulties can arise from noncompliance with legal and regulatory requirements supporting cooperative principles, and that poor management practices can impair the overall performance of cooperative entrepreneurs. Effective knowledge and skill transfer among small business owners is facilitated by cooperative engagement. For cooperative leaders, regular training as well as efficient governance and management techniques were advised.   Keywords: Cooperative Societies, Performance, Small Scale Business, Credit Access, Ikorodu Zone

Abstract

Sustainability beyond the incubation period is a major challenge for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), hindering their potential for job creation and economic growth. Research shows that market orientation can significantly impact SMEs' sustainability, but there is limited evidence on how its dimensions contribute, individually and collectively, to long-term success, especially in developing countries like Nigeria. This study explores how different dimensions of market orientation contribute to the sustainability of SMEs in Nigeria. A total of 228 SME owners and managers were selected in Ogun State using a non-parametric sampling approach. Importance-Performance Map Analysis (IPMA) was used to evaluate how each dimension of market orientation contributes to SME sustainability. The results show that market responsiveness has the highest performance score of 69.18 and an importance score of 0.276. Intelligence dissemination has a performance score of 71.16 but is not a key determinant, with a negative importance score of -0.123. Competitor orientation, customer orientation, inter-functional coordination, market responsiveness, and value creation are all in the fourth quadrant, emphasizing their importance for SME sustainability. This study suggests SME owners prioritize high-importance and performance dimensions and improve those with lower levels for sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

There have been different studies to examine the effect of career-related issues such as career-planning, career-management, on employees' workplace-related behavior, but the concept of career shocks is not covered especially in the local context of Nigeria to establish how and when shock trigger employees’ behavioural responses or workplace outcomes career. This study examined the relationship between career shock dimensions (positive and negative career shocks) and employee workplace behaviour. The objectives of the study considered the relationship between positive career shock and employees’ workplace behaviours as well as negative career shock and employees’ workplace behaviours. The conservation of resource theory was adopted for this work. Using the survey research design. A population of 124 employees from National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria was used for the study and a sample size of 95 participants was determined using Taro Yamane’s formula. However, the data analysis was based on 89 valid responses that were received from the respondents. Data was collected with the use of a questionnaire. The Pearson’s Product Correlation was used in testing the hypotheses. The result of the analyses revealed a positive correlation for both career shocks on employees' workplace behaviour. In line with this findings, it was recommended that organisations should endeavor to consider policies and organisational structures to help employees manage career shocks well.

Abstract

This article examines how museums are redefining their role as public institutions by engaging small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as non-traditional visitors, co-creators, and innovation partners. Drawing on nonprofit marketing and market orientation literature, it argues that visitor orientation must expand beyond passive audience models to recognise SMEs as active stakeholders in cultural production and knowledge exchange. Methodologically, the study adopts a comparative qualitative multiple-case design across six public museums in Indonesia, purposively selected by institutional level (provincial vs city/town) and collection focus (cultural-historical vs generalist). Data are generated through semi-structured interviews with museum staff/leaders, SME partners, and relevant local government stakeholders, complemented by document analysis and (where feasible) field observations. Analysis uses NVivo-supported a priori thematic coding to build an analytical framework around three guiding codes: (1) visitor orientation towards SMEs, (2) museum-facilitated social innovation, and (3) museum social performance (outcomes and accountability). Findings show that museum social innovation increasingly emerges through co-created economic and cultural initiatives with heritage-based SMEs, producing hybrid value such as community entrepreneurship, identity-driven product development, and inclusive local branding. The study also argues that museum social performance should be assessed not only through access and participation metrics, but through ethical governance, benefit-sharing, and contributions to local creative ecosystems; academically, it advances theory on visitor orientation and multi-stakeholder public value, and practically, it offers actionable guidance for museums, policymakers, and cultural funders to design and evaluate stronger museum–SME collaborations for inclusive cultural development.

Abstract

Tourist loyalty, particularly revisit intention, has been widely acknowledged as a key determinant of destination competitiveness and long-term sustainability. This study aims to investigate the antecedents of revisit intention by examining the role of destination image, satisfaction, and place attachment. Destination image has often been regarded as a fundamental factor influencing tourists’ perceptions and behavioral outcomes, while satisfaction and place attachment serve as critical mediators that strengthen the intention to revisit. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey of visitors to Pujon Kidul Tourism Village, an emerging rural tourism destination in Malang Regency, Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method to evaluate the structural relationships among the variables. In developing the research framework, theories and empirical findings from reputable journal articles were systematically reviewed to ensure theoretical rigor and relevance. The results of this study reveal that destination image exerts a significant positive influence on revisit intention, both directly and indirectly, through the mediating effects of satisfaction and place attachment. Specifically, a favorable destination image enhances visitor satisfaction, which subsequently fosters a stronger emotional bond with the place, thereby increasing the likelihood of repeat visitation. This study contributes to the literature by integrating destination image, satisfaction, and place attachment into a comprehensive model of tourist loyalty. From a managerial perspective, the findings provide practical insights for destination managers and policymakers to improve image-building strategies, enhance visitor experiences, and cultivate stronger attachments that encourage sustainable tourism development

Abstract

Although challenges remain, efforts at innovations to support the provision of agricultural finance to smallholder farmers, especially through digital platforms, have demonstrated great potential and feasibility to increase access to liquidity by participants in the Agricultural Value Chain (AVC). Fintechs are the summary products of innovation in financial services delivery. In Asia, the Inclusive Financing for Agricultural Value Chains (IFS4Ag) project was aimed at deriving models for improving access to agricultural value chain finance (AVCF). According to the Digital Economy for Africa Initiative (DE4A) the continent should be digitally enabled by 2030. The research study is exploratory and mostly qualitative. Informal interviews have been given to stakeholders given that the majority of interviewees are micro and small farm holders. Otherwise, secondary sources have provided the bulk of information that informs the research. Findings are that governments, multilateral lending bodies, and affiliates have been variously and severally instrumental in piloting and actualizing improvement in financial service provision to the underprivileged by supporting delivery through fintech.

Abstract

Nigeria has one of the lowest insurance penetration rates in the world possibly owing to the cost of insurance products. The study investigated the impact of microinsurance affordability on MSME's profitability in Nigeria. The study is quantitative employing both survey and cross-sectional research design. A total of four hundred (400) copies of the questionnaire were administered, but only three hundred forty-five (345) copies of the questionnaire were duly filled and used for this study representing an 86.3% response rate. According to the findings, microinsurance affordability has a favorable and considerable impact on MSME's profitability in Nigeria. The study recommended that insurance companies should improve on claims processing, be sincere, and promptly attend to customer's claims because some insurance companies do not always give full details about policies to lure people into buying them.
