Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the collaboration networks of the Mexican pharmaceutical industry from an institutional approach. The pharmaceutical sector at a global level is characterized by a high dynamism in innovation and collaboration. One could say that the high value recorded by the industry is due to this. However, in Mexico the lack of efficient institutions that ensure the appropriation of profits for investment in research within the industry are not perceived, this situation leads us to the next question, What is the dynamics of collaboration between pharmaceutical companies in Mexico? To answer this question, a database was created which identifies the alliances of the companies belonging to the Canifarma. Finally, a comparison of the number of registrations and patent applications between eight of these companies is made to measure the results of this situation.

Abstract

With the rising unemployment and poverty in South Africa, there is a need to undertake studies to provide alternative sectors that can contribute to job creation. This study aims to present scientific evidence on the contribution of micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) to job creation in Limpopo and also finding out possible prospects and constraints they face. It also wanted to offer policy makers opportunities to plan for MSMEs. Literature review and key informant interviews through focus group interview were used to gather data for this study. Purposive sample was adopted for this study. A total of twelve (12) tourism enterprises participated in the study. This study argues that MSMEs have capacity to create job opportunities. The other finding is that government officials are not keen to support MSMEs operating in townships. Lack of government is serious constraint they face. It recommends that planners should formulate policies that make it compulsory for government to procure goods and services from MSMEs.

Abstract

Along with the continuous advancement of technology, people are enjoying the benefits of implementing it in their daily lives. Using smartphone applications (apps) to shop is growing dramatically and creating new business opportunities for vendors. The main purpose of this research is to accomplish a measurement model of the use of mobile shopping apps among smartphone users in China through extended technology acceptance model (TAM). Smartphone users from mainland China who use the m-shopping applications were selected randomly for data collection. The questionnaire was distributed through a survey website. A number of 281smartphone users participated in this online survey and 234 of them were selected for final data analysis. The data was analysed by two statistical tools, which are IBM SPSS Statistics 24 and AMOS 24. Both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were utilized to measure construct reliability and validity. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was deployed for inferential data analysis. The finding presented that perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEoU), information on mobile apps (IoMA) and perceived enjoyment are all influential factors for consumers to use m-shopping apps. Especially the perceived enjoyment (PE) and IoMA have an influence on usage. However, the performances of these three constructs are not executed well in term of consumer satisfaction.

Abstract

The contribution of women entrepreneurs is a crucial factor in economic development in any country. Sri Lanka is highly benefitted from women entrepreneurship at the social and economic development in both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Therefore, it is essential to empower women in businesses to gain more desirable benefits for the country. Microfinance plays a vital role for women entrepreneurship development in developing countries. The microfinance has been identified by many scholars as one of the major weapons in empowering women entrepreneurs. Although there is a huge debate on microfinance as a crucial factor in order to determine the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs, the contribution of microfinance of Sri Lankan context is questionable. Accordingly, this study focused on identifying the relationship between microfinance and empowering women entrepreneurs in Matara district, Sri Lanka. Population of this study was women entrepreneurs in Matara district and the sample consisted with 100 of women entrepreneurs those registered and received microfinance facilities from the HNB Grameen Finance Limited, Matara. Using a systematic sampling technique sample of the study was selected. Both primary and secondary data used to collect data for the purpose of this study. A self structured questionnaire used to gather primary data and interviews and discussions are also undertaken to gather relevant primary data where necessary. Correlation and regression analytical techniques used to analyze data. This study concluded that there is a positive relationship between microfinance and economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs. The findings show that there is a positive relationship between microcredit andmicro savings and economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs. As well as, results shown that there is not a significant relationship between micro insurance and economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs. Finally, the study suggests introducing suitable microfinance schemes as a strategy for increasing women entrepreneurs’ financial capabilities while strengthening their financial literacy. Microfinance institutions should responsible to train or educate women entrepreneurs before granting loan facilities or any other related microfinance products. Moreover, it is suggested to have enough awareness on record keeping, building assets, managing risk and increasing savings to get most desirable benefits for women entrepreneurs in businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the business scale of Indonesian financial service cooperatives (IFSCs) by analyzing their cost functions. By using panel data set of saving and loan cooperatives, this research reveals that the IFSCs industry is running at an increasingly cost to scale condition, yet it is still efficient in the financial services industry market. Micro-scale IFSCs are relatively more efficient than small, medium, and large scale businesses. Furthermore, the result suggests that IFSCs business development strategy should focus on improving internal strength with changes in production technology

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impacts of inflation, economic growth (GDP), and labor wages on open unemployment in Indonesia for the period 2008-2016. The method of analysis used is a multiple linear regression with classical test and hypotheses. The results show that, partially, each of these three factors, as the only independent variables, does not have a significant effect on the open unemployment rate as the dependent variable. The regression model also shows no autocorrelation and heterocedasticity issues. While with all factors as a whole, the result shows that there is a simultaneously significant influence of the three fators on the open unemployment rate.

Abstract

Definition and Development In ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), what constitutes a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) varies widely between countries (i.e. Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Viet Nam, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, and Myanmar), or even by different agencies/organisations within a country. MSMEs may range from a part time business with no hired workers or a non-employing unincorporated business (i.e. self-employed units) such as traditional business units making and selling handicrafts in rural Java in Indonesia to small-scale semiconductor manufacturers employing more than ten people in Singapore. They may range from fast growing firms to private family firms that have not changed much for decades or have stagnated They range from enterprises that are independent businesses to those that are inextricably parts of large enterprises (LEs), such as those that belong to regional or global subcontracting networks. The only true common characteristic of MSMEs is that they are ‘not-large’; that is, whether or not a firm is really a MSME is relative. Most enterprises from the MSME category are actually very small and about 70 to 80 per cent of them employ fewer than five (5) people. Just a very small number of firms, typically ranging from 1 to 4 per cent, have more than 100 employees

Abstract

The article examines the evolution of cooperative relations within a French competitive cluster located in the Paris region, the ‘Systématic’ cluster. He questions the importance of geographical proximity as a basis for setting up and developing knowledge transfers. From an exhaustive list of labeled RandD projects within the cluster, between 2005 and 2015, the article verifies this hypothesis and confirms Krugman's analyzes and Feldman on the importance of externalities to understand the phenomenon of collocated activities. But the article also highlights the importance of non-spatial proximities (organizational, institutional and social) to understand the dispersion of companies outside the cluster and draws some lessons for the industrial policy of competitiveness clusters.
