Abstract

Village dependence on food supplies from outside the region remains high due to the suboptimal utilization of local potential and weak farmer capacity. Objective: This study aims to analyze the potential of the village agricultural sector and formulate farmer empowerment strategies to achieve sustainable food independence. Method: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with farmer groups and the village government. Field findings indicate that Cibeusi Village possesses strategic assets in the form of fertile land, a tradition of mutual cooperation (rereongan), and superior commodities (organic rice and palm sap). However, this potential is hampered by the aging farmer population and the debt-based system of middlemen. The empowerment strategy, using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, successfully integrated the strengthening of bio-agronomic capacity, revitalizing the role of Gapoktan (Farmer Groups) as supply chain partners, and creating added value (agro-processing) such as palm sugar through digital marketing. This synergy constructs a closed-loop system model that successfully transforms farmers from price takers to price makers. Endogenous asset-based farmer empowerment is key to breaking structural marginalization and building a stronghold of independent food security within rural units

Abstract

The distribution of social welfare assistance often faces challenges in targeting accuracy and efficiency in the field. Social workers play a crucial role as the spearhead of the program, and their capacity and expertise are strongly suspected of influencing its success. This study aims to analyze and explain the influence of social worker competency on the effectiveness of social welfare assistance distribution. This study aims to analyze and conceptualize the role of social worker competency on the effectiveness of social welfare assistance distribution based on various scientific literature and related regulations. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data sources were obtained from books, accredited scientific journals, official reports, and government regulations relevant to the theme of competency and social assistance. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation and literature review. The results indicate that social worker competency, encompassing cognitive dimensions (knowledge of regulations and digital systems), psychomotor skills (communication, advocacy, and conflict mediation skills), and affective (a work attitude based on integrity and empathy), significantly influences the program's success as a key variable. The integration of these three competency dimensions has been proven to realize the principle of the five rights (targeting, quantity, timeliness, quality, and administration) and reduce horizontal conflict in the community. In conclusion, the effectiveness of social assistance distribution is largely determined by the professionalism and competency of the field facilitators. This study recommends standardizing periodic training curricula and implementing professional certification for social workers by relevant agencies to maintain the quality of assistance

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of women's empowerment programs in alleviating household poverty and identify various cultural and structural challenges in their implementation. Using qualitative methods with a library research approach, secondary data was collected through a review of reputable scholarly articles, textbooks, and official reports over the past ten years. The results reveal two main findings. First, economically, empowerment programs through skills training and micro-capitalization play a significant role in generating new income as a family financial safety net, which has implications for improving women's bargaining power and democratizing domestic decision-making. Second, the sustainability of these programs faces significant challenges, including cultural barriers, a dual burden resulting from a strong patriarchal culture, and structural constraints, including project-oriented program traps, financial exclusion from formal banking, and minimal post-training mentoring. This study concludes that strengthening women's capacity requires inclusive policy transformation, gender-friendly follow-on capital schemes, and sustainable business mentoring to break the chain of structural poverty.

Abstract

The background of this research is based on the importance of optimizing regional potential to reduce poverty and urbanization in rural West Java. The main objective of the study is to analyze community empowerment strategies through the development of tourism villages based on local potential and to formulate a sustainability model. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach in Selasari Tourism Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation with the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and local MSMEs. The results indicate that a structured empowerment strategy through the stages of awareness (awakening), capacity building (enabling), and empowerment was able to optimize the potential of the Santirah River karst and Sundanese cultural wisdom into high-value special interest tourism commodities. This success was supported by harmonious and transparent governance synergy between Pokdarwis, BUMDes, and the Village Government in implementing a one-stop financial management system. The conclusion of this study confirms that a community-based tourism approach has been proven to significantly increase household income, create new jobs, grow women's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), reduce youth urbanization, and simultaneously revitalize the commitment to nature conservation and local cultural preservation independently.

Abstract

Social work plays a crucial role in addressing social disparities and improving the social functioning of vulnerable communities. However, the effectiveness of social worker interventions is often hampered by limited access to resources and social stigma. This study aims to analyze in-depth the implementation of social workers' roles (as enablers, mediators, counselors, and advocates) in assisting and empowering vulnerable communities, and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in this process. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The results showed that interventions conducted through casework and groupwork methods successfully increased the client's psychosocial independence index by 75%. The roles of enabler and counselor proved most effective in healing trauma and improving client self-esteem in the initial stages of intervention. Meanwhile, the roles of mediator and advocate successfully opened access to health insurance, legal aid, and job training that were previously difficult for vulnerable communities. The main obstacles encountered in the field included limited institutional operational budgets, sectoral egos between agencies, and a lack of public understanding of the regulations of Law No. 14 of 2019 concerning Social Work. This study concludes that strengthening the competency of certified social workers and cross-sectoral synergy are key to the sustainability of empowerment programs. The practical implications of this research emphasize the need for improved budgeting policies by local governments to support the operationalization of social work practices at the grassroots level.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of holding an FAA A320 type rating on the employability of newly graduated pilots in the global aviation labor market over the period 2005–2025. Using panel data and econometric methods, including correlation analysis and fixed versus random effects models, the findings demonstrate that possession of an A320 type rating significantly enhances employment prospects, even for pilots with limited flight hours. Regional comparisons across North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe reveal variations in recruitment preferences, but consistently show that certification mitigates the disadvantage of low flight experience. The results suggest that tailored training programs, financial support for certification, and harmonized regulatory frameworks are essential to strengthen pilot competitiveness and workforce sustainability. In addition, the study outlines an advanced research agenda employing Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modeling to assess the broader macroeconomic implications of pilot training and certification policies, including their effects on employment, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. By integrating perspectives on employability, labor crises, and technological change, this research provides valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and training institutions in shaping a more competitive and resilient aviation workforce.
