In other words, INFORMASI will be a forum for scholars when they address the wider audiences of our many sub-fields and specialties, rather than the location for the narrower conversations more appropriately conducted within more specialized journals. INFORMASI published twice a year (June and December) in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Abstract

Untuk dapat lebih jauh belajar mengenai geografi regional suatu ne­gara, perlujuga membandingkan dengan negeri lain. Tulisan ini meny aji­kan tentang Pulau Honsu, salah satu pulau besar yang ada di Jepang, Hal yang disajikan berupa kondisi geografi fisis, demografis dan perkemban­gannya. Untuk memberikan gambaran Pulau Honsu, dalam setiap pemba­hasan sub topiknya, dalam tulisan ini selalu dibandingkan dengan Pulau Jawa. Tulisan ini diangkat berdasarkan permasalahan bahwa kepadatan penduduk di kedua pulau, lain negara tersebut hampir sama, tetapi dalam perkembangan kemajuannya jauh berbeda. Apa saja persamaan perbe­daannya dapat dibaca pada sajian berikut.

Abstract

AbstractJournalists play an important role as the fourth pillar of democracy. Doing so, journalists should be independent and separated from outside interference. This independence is not only applied to the relationship of journalistandthe government, but also applied to the relationship of journalists and news sources such as higher education institutions. In obtaining the proclamation of higher education institutions, journalists often intersect with public relations practitioners who also perform the task of media relations to gain publicity. This study aims to determine how to deal with the envelope cultureof journalists conducted by public relations practitioners of higher education institutions in Yogyakarta. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using interviews and focus group discussions on five journalists from famous print media in Yogyakarta, namely Kompas, Tribun, Harian Jogja, Kedaulatan Rakyat and Radar Jogja. The results of this study show that a good relationship between journalists and public relations practitioners play an important role in preventing the envelope culture and also, public relations practitioners need to have an understanding of newsworthy issues. In addition, journalismethics (KEJ) from the journalist associations can also be used as a strong reference in relation to the ban the envelope culture among journalists.AbstrakWartawan memainkan peranan penting sebagai pilar ke-4 dalam demokrasi. Untuk itu wartawan harus bersikap independen dan terlepas dari intervensi pihak luar. Independensi ini tidak hanya berlaku pada hubungan wartawan dengan pemerintah saja, namun juga berlaku pada hubungan wartawan dengan sumber beritanya seperti institusi pendidikan tinggi. Dalam memperoleh pemberitaan dari institusi pendidikan tinggi, wartawan sering kali bersinggungan dengan praktisi public relations yang juga melakukan tugas media relations untuk memperoleh publikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana para wartawan menyikapi budaya amplop yang dilakukan oleh praktisi public relations institusi pendidikan tinggi di Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara dan FGD pada lima orang wartawan dari media cetak di Yogyakarta, yaitu Kompas, Tribun, Harian Jogja, Kedaulatan Rakyat dan Radar Jogja. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa relasi yang baik antara wartawan dan praktisi public relations memainkan peranan penting dalam mencegah adanya budaya amplop dan perlu adanya strategi pengolahan isu yang bernilai berita. Selain itu, Kode Etik Jurnalistik (KEJ) yang dicetuskan asosiasi wartawan juga dapat dijadikan acuan yang kuat dalam kaitannya dengan larangan budaya amplop di kalangan wartawan.Keywords: Journalist, Envelope Culture, Journalism Ethics

Abstract

AbstractKemadjoean (progress) was a key term for all social movement in the early 20th century Dutch East Indies. This article argued that the discourse of progress has no single meaning throughout the Dutch East Indies, but instead, it was practiced differently by people from different cultural communities. This article focuses on how the discourse of progress was negotiated by the Sundanese ethnic group. Using Foucauldian discourse analysis on the texts of Papaes Nonoman Newspaper (1914-1917), this studi found that, besides being interpreted as "an attempt to become Dutch", the notion of progress was understood by the Sundanese specifically as a way to liberate Sundanese culture from the domination of Javanese culture.AbstrakKemadjoean menjadi istilah kunci bagi semua gerakan sosial pribumi Hindia Belanda di awal abad 20. Tulisan ini meyakini bahwa wacana kemajuan dipraktikkan berbeda dalam tiap komunitas kultural. Tulisan ini membahas bagaimana kemajuan dipahami, didiskusikan dan dinegosiasikan oleh kelompok etnis Sunda pada dekade awal abad 20. Menggunakan analisis wacana Foucauldian pada teks Surat Kabar Papaes Nonoman (1914-1917), penelitian ini menemukan bahwa selain kemajuan dipahami sebagai "˜usaha menjadi Belanda'-sebagaimana umumnya terjadi di Hindia Belanda, kemajuan secara khusus dipahami oleh etnis Sunda sebagai pembebasan budaya Sunda dari dominasi budaya etnis Jawa.

Abstract

The study aims to explain how the concept of integrated Islamic and the strategy of the teacher in SMA IT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta produce the superior students. It refers to the development of SMA IT which always puts ethics, religion and the quality of the students. However, the main key to produce the superior students is the role of professional teacher who encourages the strong characteristic of students. The method of this research is qualitative and takes place in SMA IT Abu Bakar and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. Furthermore, the samples of this research consist of twenty teachers. The result is that (1) SMA IT Abu Bakar and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta combine three elements such as the cooperation among the shool, societies, and family; the structured and programmed curriculum from kindergarten to university; tsaqafah Islam and science oriented. These are done to produce a superior student who masters science and technology and also has a good characteristic. (2) The communication strategy of the teachers in SMA IT Abu Bakar and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta is effective. It can be seen from the fulfillment of communication elements on communication strategy which is used by the teacher to produce a superior student.Permasalahan pokok dalam penelitian ini adalah strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru sebagai agen perubah sosial, karena peran guru disini sangat penting dalam menghasilkan siswa yang unggul baik dalam bidang akademik maupun dalam bidang moral (akhlak mulia). Oleh karenanya, guru dituntut untuk tidak hanya mengajarkan mata pelajaran umum melainkan juga keagamaan hingga pelajaran mengenai akhlak. Hal ini dibutuhkan demi memberikan pembekalan "dasar moralitas" yang tergali dari kearifan tradisi kultural dan nilai-nilai doktrinal agama Islam yang kuat.Berdasar latar belakang di atas, maka penelitian ini secara khusus bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsep pendidikan islam terpadu dan mengetahui strategi komunikasi guru di SMA IT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta dan SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta dalam menghasilkan siswa yang unggul. Selanjutnya peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian Focus Group Dsicussion (FGD) untuk memperoleh gambaran strategi komunikasi guru SMA IT dalam menghasilkan siswa yang unggul. Hasil penelitian ini nantinya akan dipublikasikan dalam jurnal lokal yang memiliki ISSN atau jurnal nasional terakreditasi.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural country, has a high potential of conflicts among forming elements of its multiculturalism. To minimize potential of conflicts, it is necessary to construct space of co-existence for several identities. State, as an all-encompassing and all-embracing institution should be able to present policies that provide the space. Policy interventions can be taken in preventive, curative, and preservative domains. The problem is that in Indonesia centralistic era many state policies were being monocultural, containing misrecognition, even authoritarian. The situation adds conflict potential. The combination between monocultural policy and State failure in guarding policy becomes key variable in several multiethnic conflict in various regions of Indonesia. In context of centralized politics, East Kotawaringin (Kotim) proved a victorious success in ethnic conflict resolution. Sampit conflict between Dayak and Madurese in 2001 which is known as the most cruel and bloody conflict and claimed a huge amount of victims cleanses Madurese Ethnic from Sampit due to be killed, fled into the forests, or refuge outside Sampit even Central Borneo. Yet the conflict was resolved without leaving some significant problems. Unlike conflict resolutions in other regions e.g. West Borneo dan Ambon where conflict resolutions were intervened by Jakarta, Kotim succeeded in enactment of Local Regulation No 5 Year 2004 on Handling of impacted inhabitants of Ethnic Conflict. In the mentioned Local Regulation the rights of each conflicting party are recognized. Political recognition must be realized or included in a public policy (government or state), so that each party obtain legal certainty.  In preparing a public policy concerning inter-group relations in a multicultural society required the participation of each group, so the product of public policy can be understood and accepted by all groups. Implementation of the Regulation involved maximum participation of citizens, community leaders and members of Local Government. The role of Central Government is very minimalist.  While conflict resolution in many other regions leaves some serious problems—e.g. lack of formal return for victims in West Borneo ethnic conflict, or fragmentation of areas which homogenous identity of religion post Ambon Conflict—Kotim is able to preserve peaceful atmosphere among heterogenous identity and multicultural community. Abstract

This study attempts to do an examination of communication dynamics occurring ininternal Brajamusti as a pro football team PSIM Jogja during the election of a candidatemayor and municipal deputy mayor Yogyakarta.This study was conducted usingdescriptive qualitative approach.Type of research is doing check deeply the dynamicsof what happens ranging from communication activities which is a formal culturallyto eventually become Brajamusti the agreement.Some activity carried out such as bycollecting and assess case, floated issues, even, and so on. Do the interview with themembers and Brajamusti's lead, an analysis of interviews, mapped problems faced, andformulated conclusion.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pengamatan terhadap dinamika komunikasiyang terjadi dalam internal Brajamusti sebagai wadah pendukung tim sepak bola PSIMJogja semasa pemilihan calon Walikota dan Wakil Walikota Kotamadya Yogyakarta.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Tipedari penelitian ini adalah melakukan penelaahan secara mendalam terhadap dinamikayang terjadi mulai dari aktifitas komunikasi yang bersifat kultural hingga formal yangpada akhirnya menjadi kesepakatan Brajamusti sebagai organisasi.Beberapa aktivitasdilaksanakan seperti mengumpulkan dan mengkaji kasus-kasus, isu yang dilontarkan,even, dan sebagainya. Melakukan interview dengan para anggota dan pimpinanBrajamusti, melakukan analisis terhadap hasil wawancara, memetakan permasalahanpermasalahanyang dihadapi, dan merumuskan kesimpulan.

Abstract

  Spread corruption, collution and nepotism and increase of drugs, criminality etc. on the other hand was one of moral collapse in our nation. This phenomena was standpoint from morality mozaik from our generation and must be solved to make our nations better. The eduation is one of the most useful to revamp our generation, and values education must be implemented in schools. This research used of qualitative method to thoroughly find fact and phenomena which the researcher himself as the instrument. The researcher used in-depth interview, participatory observation, and documentation to collect the data. The validity data is acquired by triangulation, the longer observation, negative case analysis, and references to check and recheck. The researcher used interactive data analysis method by Miles and Huberman to analyze the data which includes: data reduction, data display and conclusion. The result shows that the headmaster, teacher, and staff of Muhammadiyah Bodon of Elementary School have significant role in the implementation of values education. As a manager, the headmaster planed, organized and evaluated the program. The teachers took the role of values educator, model to values teaching, supervisor and evaluator to values education program. The values education programs in Muhammadiyah Bodon Elementary School was implemented by comprehensive models that was integrated in learning, extracurricular, and particular events. The values developed in that school were the values of religion, clean and beauty, discipline, politeness, and honesty. The impacts of values education on the performance of students of Muhammadiyah Bodon Elementary School was significant. This can be seen from their achievements in school cleaning competitions, religion competitions, “batik” contest, Javanese speech contest etc. The factors that encouraged the implementations of values education were: good capability of human resources, school facilities, some programs which were in line with values education, and the active role of the school elements. The factors that discouraged values education program were: few of teachers who did not appreciate to values education programs, parents who did not care with affective education to their children, and the environment did not care with the implementation of values education in Muhammadiyah Bodon Elementary School.   Key words: Values, education, Muhammadiyah

Abstract

Social media, as the name implies, is a media for people to socialize with the others,with borderless space and time, over the Internet. Facebook is one of Indonesian favoritesocial media. Indonesian does a lot of activities on Facebook, such as posting andcommenting on other people posts. One of the most popular features on Facebook isthe sharing feature. It can share post or link from online media or other people's postto their own account. The ease of using the share features, it also raises many cases.The case of indignation expression of Danish badminton players against the threat ofmurder directed against them, until the case of defamation of the President of Indonesiabecame a real example of the effects of these features.Many of those kinds of cases resultin social punishment, even prison. Law of The Republic of Indonesia Number 11 year2008 about Electronic Information and Transaction which had been revised on 2016,still can not solve social problems which occur on the Internet. In fact, the Act alone willnot be enough to solve social problems. Actually, what society needs is more knowledgeabout digital literacy. Media sosial, seperti namanya, adalah media bagi masyarakat untuk bersosialisasidengan orang lain tanpa dibatasi ruang dan waktu melalui jaringan internet. Salah satu bentuk media sosial yang paling banyak digunakan saat ini, terutama oleh masyarakat Indonesia, adalah jejaring sosial Facebook. Masyarakat Indonesia melakukan banyak kegiatan di situs jejaring sosial tersebut, seperti mengunggah tulisan dan berkomentar pada suatu unggahan. Salah satu fitur yang digemari di Facebook adalah fitur bagikan yang berfungsi agar pengguna dapat membagi tautan dari orang lain keakun pribadi mereka dengan pengaturan tertentu. Adanya kemudahan dalam menggunakan fitur bagikan tersebut, ternyata malah menimbulkan banyak kasus. Kasus ungkapan kemarahan pemain bulutangkis asal Denmark terhadap ancaman pembunuhan yang ditujukan kepada mereka, hingga kasus penghinaan Presiden Indonesia menjadi contoh nyata dari efek fitur tersebut. Tidak jarang masalah yang ada di jejaring sosial berujung pada hukuman sosial,bahkan dapat masuk dalam ranah hukum pidana. Undang-Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik yang telah direvisi pada akhir tahun 2016, ternyata tidak dapat mengatasi masalah sosial yang terlanjur terjadi di internet. Faktanya, Undang-undang saja tidak akan cukup untuk mengatasi masalah sosial. Sebenarnya, yang lebih dibutuhkan masyarakat adalah pengetahuan tentang literasi digital.

Abstract

Dalam menghadapi persaingan bisnis yang semakin ketat seiring dengan meningkatnya kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi sekarang ini, Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) merupakan aset organisasi yang tidak tergantikan. Kecanggihan dan kemajuan teknologi menjadi tidak berarti jika tidak ada unsur manusia di dalamnya. Kualitas SDM yang seperti apa dan dalam jumlah (kuantitas) berapa suatu organisasi/perusahaan harus merekrut dan mempekerjakannya, perlu adanya sistem perencanaan SDM yang baik dan terpercaya. Perencanaan SDM merupakan upaya memproyeksikan berapa jumlah karyawan yang dibutuhkan saat ini dan masa datang. Semua organisasi harus menentukan masa depannya dengan berbagai rencana yang relevan dengan tuntutan jaman. Pada era seperti sekarang ini, masa depan sangat sukar diprediksi karena perubahan yang terjadi sangat cepat. Pada kondisi lingkungn bisnis yang kompetitif, kehidupan organisasi dituntut untuk terus bergerak mengikuti arus perubahan yang sangat cepat dan massif. Dalam konteks ini, perencanaan SDM menjadi lebih penting bagi perusahaan karena globalisasi, teknologi baru, dan proses restrukturisasi organisasi selalu membayangi kehidupan organisasi. Agar dalam pelaksanaan perencanaan SDM bisa berhasil, sedikitnya terdapat empat aspek perencanaan SDM yang harus diperhatikan/dilakukan yaitu: (1) berapa proyeksi jumlah karyawan yang dibutuhkan (forecasting of employees), (2) melakukan identifikasi SDM yang tersedia dalam organisasi (human resource audit), (3) melakukan analisis keseimbangan penawaran dan permintaan (demand and suplay analysis), (4) menjalankan program aksi (action program).   Kata kunci: perencanaan SDM, organisasi.
