Abstract

Nowdays, one of  the well-known  means of communication is internet or also known as the new media. The internets is used as a main source for communicating and searching for information. This very media is what no longer makes distance and time a problem. The internet has developed and become an efficient  and  effective  way  of  communication.  The  internet  has  grown  into  a  communicative  mean  and cannot  be  disregarded.  Internet  users  are  mostly  students,  due  to  the  facilities  being  easy  to  use  and accessed. Most people use internet connection to receive information and entertainment. Accordingly to the Mcquail application which states that there are four  motives on the usage of media,  1.  Information  (surveillance)  with  four  subs:  a.  seeking  news  regarding  events  and  conditions relevant  with  the  closest  environment,  society,  and the  world.b.Seeking  for  guidance  on  practical issues,  opinions  and  such  which  are  related with  choosing  an  option,  c.To  fulfill  curiosity  and public interest,  d.  To learn, self- education,  2. Personal identit motives consists of four subs:  a.  To find support on personal  values,b.To  find  a behavior  model,  c.To  identify  oneself  with  other  values  found within  the media,  d.To  gain  an  understanding  of  oneself.  3.  Integration  and  social  interaction  motives  (Personal Relationship) consists of six sub chapters:  a.  To obtain knowledge regarding the circumstances of  others, b.  To identify oneself with  others  and gain  a  sense  of belonging,  c.To  find  conversation  material  and social  interaction,  d.  To gain friends  beside  humans,  e.  To  assist social  role,  f.  Makes connecting with family, friends and society possible.  4. For entertainment motives (Diversion) there are five sub chapters: a.  To  release  oneself  from  problems,  b.To  relax,  c.To  achieve  spiritual joy  and esthetical joy,  d.  To fill time, e.To channel emotions, f. To stimulate sexual desires. It  may be  concluded that the  aforementioned  theories  stated by McQuail  are proven  by twitter accounts of class XI class of 2013 students of SMA  Negeri Surakarta within the period of November until December, aside from that the writer has also foundchanging motives which happens within information motives and entertainment motives.

Abstract

The phenomenon of children on the street is increasingly widespread. This due to the fact that existence is very easy to find particulary in the city center or street even almost all them are disturbing the society, the naughty child and the children on the street tend to live freely with singing on the street and so on. Therefore it needs to establish a  positive  self concept  for naughty child and children  on  the street. The objective of the research is to determine the comunication model and to classify effective communication model used by conselors in the process of self concept establishment in the client. This research belongs to qualitative descriptive study, data collection techniques used  observation  and  interview.  The  results  of  this research  is  the  process  of establishing a  positive self-concept  on  the  client  in  social  rehabilitation centers “KARTINI” Tawangmangu through three stages of social rehabilitation services consists of some guidance such as the guidance of physical, mental, social skill and  character.  The  guidance  uses  two  communication  models.  The  first communication model effective to estabilish a positive self concept in client with the problems such as ropping out of school, hanging out and so on. Mean while the second communication model effective to clientwhich specific problems such as broken home, drunk, sing on the street and so on.

Abstract

Nowadays,  almost  all  of  television  commercialsuseartistsasendorser.  The  endorser  is  selected based  on  its attraction.  They  has a duty inintroducing the  brand  of  a product. XL is one of the advertisement which use artist as an endorser. XL uses NOAH as an endorser because NOAH is considered having capability in creating brand image XL. The success in building the brand image is also determined by consumer perceptions of endorser who became icon is in the advertisement. Therefore, this research focus on analysis of is there any influence of NOAH attraction to brand image  of  XL  advertisement  among  Sahid  Surakarta  University  student  class  2011. The populations  of this  study is allof students inclass 2011  at  Sahid  Surakarta  University.  The  total number of student is 295. Where as, the sampling techniques was used a simple random sampling (the taking of sample from population was randomly  without regard to the existing strata in the population). This research used respondence’s questionnaire as the primary data. Meanwhile, in analizing  influence  of  NOAH  attraction  to  brand  image  of  XL  advertisement  among  Sahid Surakarta  University  student  class  2011  was  use  Rank-Order  Correlation.  The  Results  of  this studyshows that results Spearmens coefficient Rho=0.426 and p-value of 0.000. Thus,p-value less than  0.05  it  means that  there is significant influence of NOAH  attraction to  brand image  of XL advertisement among Sahid Surakarta University student class 2011.

Abstract

POLRI has  hierarchy  organization  same with  other  military  institution. The occupation  placement  based  on  level  of  promotion,  higher  position  of  the POLRI’s promotion increase their occupation and their welfare. However, the higher level of lobby to the leader will determine the occupation, because not all occupation in police can increase the welfare of their personnel. This is the cause of polemic in police institution. The purposeof this research is to know the significant relation between organizational communication condition and working spirit of the POLRI’s personnel in POLWIL Surakarta and to know the significant relation between social economy status and the organizational communication  condition  and  working  spirit  of  the  Polri’s  personnel  in POLWIL Surakarta. The type of this research is explanatory research thet will explain  the  causal  relation  between  its  variable  through  hypothesis examination.  The  research  used  survey  method  that  take  sample  from population and uesd questioner as the primary data  collector. The research take 76 sample use Yamane formula. There are 3 variables where the relation between  independent  variable  (organzational  communication condition)  and dependent  variable  (working  spirit)  will  be  presented  by  third  variable  that will be controled its effect (social economy status), so the writer used Kendall partial correlation coefficient. Based on the wholedata analysis result, it can be  concluded  that  among  the  three  variables  namely, organzational communication  condition  (X),  working  spirit  (Y)  and social  economy  status (Z), the result is 0,752. the early value of Txy was 0, 765 and after the effect was controlled by social economy status (Z) becomes0, 752. so, it decrease about 0, 013. it means that social economy status is not the particular things that  effect  the  communication  condition  and  working spirit  owned  by  the personnel of POLRI in POLWIL Surakarta. Abstract

One implementation of government policy to build family’s prosperity by increasing the quality of children is realizing The Building of Family and Children under Five Years Program or Bina Keluarga Balita (BKB). BKB activities are organized by cadres of community who volunteer to explain to the target of BKB Program. However, there is a resistance which is the cadres are lack of creativity in implementing community service model. It becomes the main factor why BKB program is not maximal.Service communication model which is used by cadres to deliver the materials is boring and makes the target group bored.Moreover, they lost their motivation to participate in BKB Program. This research applies “research and development” design. This is a research which follows the development programs. Service communication model of BKB cadres is built through systematic stages by applying Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. In general, this research is done to determine service communication model which is used by the cadres. Furthermore, it also creates a model for the development of service communication in producing more creative cadres which are able to support the success of BKB Program. The result of this research is a service communication model that is able to make cadres more creative in supporting the success of BKB Program. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kedekatan hubungan interpersonal antara perokok aktif dengan pasangannya yang merupakan perokok pasif dan untuk mengetahui serta memahami bagaimana komunikasi persuasif yang dilakukan antara pasangan perokok pada kalangan mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta dalam upayanya untuk berhenti merokok. Penelitian yang dilakukan di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan informan perokok aktif dan pasangannya di kalangan mahasiswa UNY yang berjumlah 8 pasangan. Metode pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dengan pengambilan data purposive sampling dan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Analisis data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data, mereduksi data, menyajikan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan hubungan interpersonal antara perokok aktif dan pasangannya di kalangan mahasiswa UNY adalah 1) keterbukaan secara langsung, berupa saran dan nasihat dari aktivitas merokok; 2) komunikasi persuasif melalui media, berupa saran, nasihat, informasi rokok dan dampak bahaya merokok; 3) komunikasi persuasif melalui ancaman dan sanksi berupa pemutusan hubungan untuk merubah sikap dan tingkah laku; 4) komunikasi persuasif melalui sindiran, berupa perkataan langsung tentang sisi negatif merokok terhadap kesehatan; 5) komunikasi persuasif melalui gombalan, berupa gombalan romantis untuk menarik perhatian, dan menghindari salah persepsi; 6) komunikasi persuasif melalui games, berupa nasihat melalui sebuah permainan kejujuran; 7) komunikasi persuasif melalui perumpamaan, berupa tindakan pertukaran posisi antara perokok aktif dan pasangannya; dan 8) komunikasi persuasif melalui pengalaman orang lain, berupa nasihat dari contoh dan cerita nyata tentang dampak bahaya merokok.

Abstract

This investigates the family’s communication pattern to avoid senior high school student violence in Yogyakarta. This study employs a qualitative method taking a sample of ten people consist of students’ parents (SMAN 6 Yogyakarta, SMAN 8 Yogyakarta, SMAN 9 Yogyakarta, SMA Bopkri 2 Yogyakarta, SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta, and SMA Tamansiswa Yogyakarta); teachers and society figure. The results are (1) Communication pattern which is used effectively to avoid students’ violence is one way communication. In this situation parents can give advice and become a role model for their children; and (2) Communication patterns which are used innefectively to avoid students’ violence are interaction and transaction communication. It is because parents’ knowledge about the importance of interaction communication in character education is very low and the transaction communication among parents-children-third party tends to not intensive.POLA KOMUNIKASI KELUARGA DALAM MENCEGAH KENAKALAN PELAJAR SMA DI KOTA YOGYAKARTATujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi keluarga dalam mencegah kenakalan pelajar SMA di Kota Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan menggunakan 10 narasumber yang mencakup wali siswa (SMAN 6 Yogyakarta, SMAN 8 Yogyakarta, SMAN 9 Yogyakarta, SMA Bopkri 2 Yogyakarta, SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta, dan SMA Tamansiswa Yogyakarta); wali kelas dan tokoh masyarakat. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disebutkan bahwa (1) Pola komunikasi keluarga yang digunakan secara efektif sebagai upaya untuk mencegah kenakalan pelajar dalam penelitian ini adalah komunikasi sebagai aksi atau komunikasi satu arah dimana orang tua memberikan nasihat atau memberikan contoh secara langsung melalui perbuatan; dan (2) Pola komunikasi keluarga yang masih belum dapat dilakukan secara efektif untuk mencegah kenakalan pelajar adalah komunikasi sebagai interaksi dan komunikasi banyak arah. Hal ini disebabkan karena minimnya pengetahuan orang tua mengenai pentingnya komunikasi dua arah dalam proses penanaman pendidikan karakter seorang anak dan juga karena komunikasi banyak arah yang terjalin antara orang tua-anak-pihak ketiga cenderung tidak intens.

Abstract

This study examines the communication pattern between female breadwinners and their children and the barriers in that communication process. This qualitative study was carried out among 12 female breadwinners from low-income families in Wedomartani Village, Ngemplak, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta. It is drawn from the study that, first, there is good interpersonal communication between a female breadwinner and her children. It is clearly seen as all factors leading to an effective interpersonal communication are fulfilled, namely a) openness – the mother is actively creating a pleasant conversation so that her children will feel more comfortable in telling her everything that happens to them; b) empathy – the mother instills a sense of independence and respect for others in her children; and c) positive behaviors – the mother has a strong commitment to improve her family’s condition as shown in all her positive behaviors. Second, as the mother and her children can interchangeably be the communicator (sender) or the communicant (recipient) of information, this communication is categorized as direct (face-to-face), either one-way or two-way. Third, the barrier existing in the communication process between a female breadwinner and her children is mainly related to the mother’s limited time available to do her main duties as a mother, causing her housework to become abandoned. Another obstacle in this communication process is due to the children’s psychological condition that is affected by the lack or even the absence of father’s roles in their family, leading to an unstable emotion.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola komunikasi wanita sebagai kepala keluarga dengan anaknya dan apa saja hambatan yang terjadi pada proses komunikasi antara wanita kepala keluarga dengan sang anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan sumber data utama para wanita kepala keluarga miskin di desa Wedomartani, Ngemplak, Sleman yang berjumlah 12 informan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) komunikasi interpersonal yang terjalin antara ibu sebagai wanita kepala keluarga dengan sang anak sudah berjalan dengan baik. Hal itu tampak dari pemenuhan faktor-faktor yang dapat memengaruhi komunikasi interpersonal agar menjadi lebih efektif diantaranya a) Keterbukaan yang ditandai dengan adanya peran aktif sang ibu dalam proses komunikasi agar sang anak merasa nyaman bercerita segala hal; b) Empati yang ditanamkan oleh sang ibu pada diri sang anak adalah kemandirian dan rasa menghargai orang lain terutama orang tua; dan c) Perilaku positif yang ditunjukkan dari komitmen yang kuat sang ibu dalam memperbaiki kondisi keluarga. 2) pola komunikasi interpersonal yang terjadi bersifat langsung (tatap muka) baik satu arah maupun dua arah. Hal ini tampak dari posisi komunikator (pengirim pesan) dan komunikan (penerima pesan) dapat dilakukan oleh ibu maupun anak. Dan 3) hambatan dalam proses komunikasi yang terjalin antara ibu sebagai wanita kepala keluarga dengan anaknya saat berinteraksi adalah minimnya waktu yang dimiliki oleh sang ibu menyebabkan tugas dan kewajiban utamanya sebagai seorang ibu di rumah menjadi terbengkalai dan hambatan lainnya adalah kondisi psikologis anak yang mengalami kekurangan atau bahkan kehilangan sosok ayah dalam keluarga menyebabkan emosinya menjadi tidak stabil.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to examine the communication techniques between parents and children in the context of parenting and giving advice (sharenting) for the prevention of children or adolescents' delinquency. The informants of this research were students, teachers, parents, and community leaders from two countries (Indonesia and Malaysia). Data were collected utilizing the focus group discussion techniques via Zoom meeting platform. Data were analyzed using interactive analysis which includes four stages, namely: data collection, data reduction, display data, and drawing a conclusion/verification. The results show that parenting and sharenting communication are strategic forums to guide adolescents to avoid various forms of deviant behavior, especially delinquency. The communication techniques applied consist of persuasive and in certain conditions coercive communication techniques are utilized. Communication barriers include the lack of commitment of some parents in carrying out comprehensive communication.
