Abstract

The elderly are a group that is vulnerable to experiencing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health problems. However, at the village level, integrated services for the elderly are still limited, so it often causes welfare problems. RANDA House Innovation  is present as a strategy to build a community-based Elderly-Friendly Village in Katumbangan Village. This activity aims to design, launch, and implement an integrated service model for the elderly that is integrated with local cultural approaches. The implementation method is carried out through a participatory approach involving the village government, lecturers, students, elderly families, health cadres, and cross-sector stakeholders. The series of activities includes cross-generational education through the Elderly Family School, the implementation of Fine Arts Group Activity Therapy, the empowerment of the elderly economy through product bazaars, and the signing of joint commitments. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm from the elderly, families, and the village community; increased family knowledge about elderly care; as well as policy support from the village to district levels. RANDA House's innovation can be replicated in other villages as an effort to strengthen the inclusive and dignified quality of life of the elderly.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, with lasting effects on children’s growth and development. The first 1,000 days of life, from pregnancy to the age of two, is a critical period to prevent stunting. Limited knowledge of nutrition, parenting, and healthy behaviors among pregnant women and families contributes to its high prevalence. This community service aimed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge about stunting prevention through participatory education. The activity was conducted in Tolisu and Rusa Kencana Villages, Toili II Health Center, Banggai, in July 2025 with 30 pregnant women. Counseling sessions used the Maternal and Child Health handbook and interactive discussions, with knowledge assessed using pre-test and post-test. Results showed a 42% increase in average scores (from 8.9 to 9.5). The program improved awareness of balanced nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, and healthy practices. This educational intervention proved effective and can be sustained in rural communities.

Abstract

Health check-ups are crucial, especially for the elderly, as they are susceptible to disease. Therefore, this community service activity aims to support and strengthen the existence of the elderly integrated health post (Posyandu) by providing free health check-ups, education on healthy lifestyles, and assistance in monitoring the health of the elderly. The methods used included free physical examinations, health consultations, health education, vitamin distribution, and health recording and monitoring. This activity involved a team of lecturers, students, medical personnel, and community health workers who provided health services to the community. The results provided information on public health, focusing on the elderly. Physical examinations included height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid levels. Providing health education is expected to be beneficial in helping the community, especially the elderly, improve their health. In conclusion, the Posyandu activities for the elderly were well-implemented and received a positive response from the community, particularly the elderly.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and attitude of Posyandu cadres in early detection of stunting in toddlers. The activity was held at Posyandu Seruni, Mapane Tambu Village, Balaesang District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, on July 22 - 28, 2025. The main target is 15 active cadres, with mothers under five as indirect beneficiaries. The implementation method includes interactive training, counseling, field practice, and mentoring. The material provided includes the basic concept  of stunting, anthropometric measurement techniques, classification of nutritional status, and health communication using leaflet media. The evaluation was carried out through observation of cadre practice, group discussions, short questionnaires, and oral feedback from participants. The results of the activity showed an increase in cadres' understanding of the concept of stunting and skills in conducting early detection independently. Media leaflets have been proven to help in the educational process for mothers under five. This activity has a positive impact on the readiness of cadres as the spearhead of monitoring child growth and development at the posyandu level. It is hoped that similar training can be carried out on an ongoing basis to strengthen stunting prevention in the community.

Abstract

This activity aims to increase social interaction and socialization of socially isolated patients through Socialization Group Activity Therapy (TAKS). The case study method was applied to 8 adult male patients at RSKD Dadi Makassar for two weeks in seven structured TAKS sessions. Results showed a significant improvement in patients' verbal communication skills, including introducing themselves, getting acquainted, conversing, and cooperating. The majority of patients showed verbal improvement (87.5%), while active nonverbal participation was 75%. However, the use of appropriate body language was still low (0%), indicating an increase in verbal dominance. The client's social isolation is dominated by psychological factors (unpleasant experiences, emotional trauma). TAKS has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of social isolation and gradually improving patients' social skills. Therefore, TAKS is recommended as an integral intervention in psychiatric rehabilitation. For sustainability and improved outcomes, more intensive nonverbal exercises are recommended as well as further research on the integration and long-term effectiveness of TAKS.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to reduce tantrum behavior in early childhood children who were dependent on gadget use. A total of 20 children aged 4–6 years in Polewali Mandar Regency participated in this program. The intervention was conducted through play therapy over a three-week period, with a frequency of two sessions per week, resulting in a total of six sessions. The activities included coloring, role-playing, ball games, and making and flying paper planes. Observational results showed that prior to the intervention, the frequency of tantrums ranged from 2–3 times per day with a duration of 6–10 minutes. After the intervention, the frequency decreased to 0–1 times per day with a duration of 1–3 minutes. In addition, the children demonstrated improvements in focus, emotional regulation, and social interaction with their surroundings. This program indicates that play therapy is an effective, simple, and enjoyable strategy for reducing tantrum behavior in early childhood related to gadget use.

Abstract

Nutritional problems among toddlers remain a challenge in Indonesia, including in Katumbangan Village, Polewali Mandar Regency, where cases of undernutrition and stunting are still prevalent. Utilizing local foods as complementary feeding (PMT) is considered important because they are nutritious, affordable, and easily available. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers in preparing PMT based on local foods and to observe its impact on toddler nutritional status. A total of 30 mothers participated in activities including pre-test, counseling, demonstration, practice, and evaluation through post-test, observation, and monitoring of toddler nutritional status. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results showed an increase in the average knowledge score of mothers from 55.6 to 83.2, with 90% of mothers able to practice PMT preparation correctly. The nutritional status of toddlers also improved, with the proportion of well-nourished children (weight-for-age) increasing from 40% to 60%. It can be concluded that local food-based PMT training effectively improves mothers’ knowledge and skills and has a positive impact on toddler nutritional status. This program should be continued through integrated posyandu activities and multisectoral support as part of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Marriage is a socially and legally recognized union between two individuals regarded as partners. Early marriage remains a persistent issue in West Sulawesi, including in Mamuju, where its prevalence continues to be high and is accompanied by elevated stunting rates. This situation underscores the need for collective attention and coordinated action from all stakeholders to reduce both early marriage and stunting. The low level of adolescents’ knowledge regarding the impact of early marriage on stunting served as the basis for implementing this community service activity. The purpose of this program was to enhance adolescents’ understanding of early marriage as a risk factor for stunting. The activity was carried out at SMAN 3 Mamuju. An increase in participants’ knowledge about early marriage and stunting was observed following the educational intervention. It is expected that the students will take part in efforts to reduce the prevalence of early marriage, particularly in Mamuju.

Abstract

Chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection (Chronic Hepatitis B/CHB) remains a major global health problem. In HBV-endemic regions, vertical transmission or mother-to-child transmission constitutes a serious concern. Hepatitis B virus infection can lead to either acute or chronic hepatitis. A reactive/positive HBsAg test indicates the presence of hepatitis B infection in the body. Hepatitis B affects the liver and is associated with several adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth, low birth weight (<2500 g), premature rupture of membranes, gestational diabetes, and congenital abnormalities related to HBV infection. It is therefore essential to disseminate information to pregnant women and community health volunteers (kader) regarding the impacts of Hepatitis B infection. The objective of this community service activity is to improve the knowledge of community health volunteers and pregnant women about Hepatitis B infection and the simple urine bilirubin screening test. The proposed solution for addressing the identified problems is to provide assistance and education to health volunteers and pregnant women related to Hepatitis B and the method of urine bilirubin testing. The implementation method involves conducting educational and outreach sessions for the target groups regarding Hepatitis B infection. The target partners of this community service program are community health volunteers (kader) and pregnant women. The method used includes delivering educational materials through health education sessions for volunteers and interactive discussions, preceded by a pre-test and concluded with a post-test. Follow-up activities include mentoring volunteers in providing health counseling on Hepatitis B infection to pregnant women.
