Abstract

Abstract: This study aims at investigating the match between beliefs and classroom practices about communicative language teaching (CLT). Survey design through questionnaire for professional teachers of English and guided interviews is employed in this study. The 25 questionnaire items revealed the teachers’ belief about CLT and the classroom practices based on its characteristics, i.e.: overall goals, relationship of form and function, fluency-accuracy, focus on real-world contexts, autonomy and strategic involvement, teacher roles, and student roles. The data were gathered, reduced, grouped, and verified. The results showed that the highest discrepancy is on the aspect of fluency-accuracy.Key Words: teacher’s belief, communicative language teaching, classroom practicesAbstrak: Penelitian ini menganalisa kesesuaian antara kepercayaan terhadap pembelajaran komunikatif (CLT) dan penerapannya. Data diperoleh melalui survei dengan kuesioner yang ditujukan kepada guru Bahasa Inggris profesional dan interview sebagai konfirmasi. 25 pernyataan kuesioner menunjukkan kepercayaan guru terhadap pembelajaran komunikatif dan penerapannya di dalam proses pembelajaran. Kuesioner ini disusun berdasarkan 7 karakteristik pembelajaran komunikatif: tujuan menyeluruh, hubungan bentuk dan fungsi Bahasa, ketepatan dan kelancaran, penerapan di dunia nyata, keterlibatan dan strategi belajar individu, peran guru, dan peran siswa. Data yang terkumpul dikelompokkan dan dicocokkan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketidaksesuaian penerapan prinsip CLT dalam proses pembelajaran terutama dalam aspek ketepatan dan kelancaran.Kata kunci: keyakinan guru, pembelajaran komunikatif, praktik kelas

Abstract

Abstract: Language and social development of children plays an important role in influencing further development. The objectives of this research are to determine the effect of drawing based on story-telling toward language development and social development of children age 5–6 years. Single subject research with reversal design ABAB was used in this experimental research. Four kindergarten children identified having language and social problems became the subjects. The observation was used to collect data. In addition, the data were put into graphs to be analyzed by using visual inspection. The results showed that drawing activities based on story telling could improve the scores of language development for each subject; and also improves the pro-social attitude of each subject. And at the same time the aggressive attitude for each subject decreased. It concludes that drawing based on story telling improve language and social development of children aged 5–6 years effectively.Key Words: drawing, story telling, language, socialAbstrak: Perkembangan bahasa dan sosial anak berperan penting dalam mempengaruhi perkembangan selanjutnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh menggambar berbasis story telling terhadap perkembangan sosial anak usia 5–6 tahun. Single subject research dengan reversal design digunakan dalam penelitian. Subjek penelitian adalah empat siswa kelas B TK yang diketahui memiliki masalah bahasa dan sosial. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah observasi. Analisis data dengan pemeriksaan visual terhadap data yang ditampilkan oleh grafik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan menggambar berbasis story telling mampu meningkatkan skor perkembangan berbahasa masing-masing subjek; dan mampu meningkatkan sikap pro sosial untuk masing-masing subjek, di sisi lain sikap agresif untuk masing-masing subjek ikut menurun. Simpulan penelitian bahwa menggambar berbasis story telling efektif meningkatkan perkembangan berbahasa dan sosial anak usia 5–6 tahun.Kata kunci: menggambar, story telling, bahasa, sosial

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to discover strategies in integrating a new culture within the merger companies. The strategies have elements including values, phases, leader role, and the system of cultural integration construction. This research used a meta-analysis with an expose facto research design. Findings indicate new cultural integrations were carried out by many companies through demonstrating internal and external values. Integrations are implemented through ‘pre, process, and post-merger’.  The most important in the preliminary stage is started by benchmarking, leading entire stages, and keeping a balance of collaboration between human and non-human aspects as well as leader and member components. This study concludes that the identified strategies highly contributed to effective management changes at micro, meso, and macro level. The implication is that leaders have to consider new cultural integration strategies properly. Since this study were based on meta analysis findings, future research needs to include empirical data originated from merging organizations.Key Words: strategy, cultural integration, organizationAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan strategi guna mengintegrasikan budaya baru dalam perusahaan merger. Dalam elemen strategi terdapat nilai-nilai, fase, peran pemimpin, dan sistem konstruksi integrasi budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan meta-analisis dengan desain expose facto. Temuan dari banyak perusahaan melalui pembuktian nilai-nilai internal dan eksternal. Integrasi dilaksanakan melalui 'pra, proses, dan pasca merger'. Dalam tahap pendahuluan, hal yang paling penting adalah benchmarking, memimpin seluruh tahapan, dan menjaga keseimbangan antara kolaborasi dan aspek non-manusia serta komponen pemimpin dan anggota. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi sangat berkontribusi terhadap perubahan manajemen yang efektif di tingkat mikro, mezo, dan makro. Para pemimpin harus mempertimbangkan strategi integrasi budaya baru dengan benar. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the error of translation Thai folklore texts into Indonesian language by Thai students which in the results of the translation are divided into two analysis as follows: the mistake of word selection and the mistake of composing the sentence. This research use approach and descriptive qualitative research type. Mistakes are mostly caused by the lack of comprehension of Indonesian language as a target language, especially Indonesian language in various contexts minimized the vocabulary of Indonesia language by Thai studentsKey Words: error in translation, Thai language folktales texts Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan penerjemahan teks cerita rakyat bahasa Thai ke dalam bahasa Indonesia oleh mahasiswa Thailand yang muncul dalam hasil terjemahan terbagi menjadi dua analisis, yaitu: kesalahan pemilihan kata dan kesalahan penyusunan kalimat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan dan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Kesalahan banyak disebabkan oleh minimnya pemahaman ketatabahasan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa sasaran, terutama bahasa Indonesia dalam berbagai konteks serta minimnya kosa kata dalam bahasa Indonesia yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa Thailand.Kata kunci: kesalahan terjemahan, teks cerita rakyat bahasa Thai

Abstract

Abstract: This present research tended to analyze the teacher talk performed by the English teachers in a Senior High School in Palu, Central Sulawesi through the use of Self-Evaluation of Teacher Talk (SETT). This research employed a case study research design, in the nature of qualitative research. Random sampling technique was used in determining the research’s participants. From the results of the research, it was found that the English teachers implemented all of the fourteen interactional strategies of SETT. Besides, the teachers and students’ perceptions were also investigated.Key Words: classroom interaction, teacher talk, interactional strategies, self-evaluation of teacher talk, perception Abstrak: Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menganalisis perkataan guru yang dilakukan oleh guru-guru Bahasa Inggris di sebuah Sekolah Menengah Atas di Palu, Sulawesi Tengah melalui penggunaan Self-Evaluation of Teacher Talk (SETT). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian studi kasus, yang berada di dalam naungan penelitian kualitatif. Teknik random sampling digunakan untuk menentukan para peserta penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa guru-guru Bahasa Inggris melakukan ke-14 strategi berinteraksi yang ada pada SETT.
