Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of the discovery learning model combined with Jig-saw II on the students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes. The study was a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects were 134 high school students divided into one group given discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II and 3 control groups given discovery learning, Jigsaw II, or conventional learning model. The experiment showed that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II resulting in significant differences in students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes with Fvalue = 13.935 (p < 0.05) on information literacy F value = 6.527 (p < 0.05) on cognitive learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II significantly improved students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes.Key Words: discovery learning, jigsaw II, information literacy, cognitive learning outcomesAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II terhadap literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif. Penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek yang digunakan yaitu siswa SMA sebanyak 134 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai F sebesar 13,935 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada literasi informasi dan F sebesar 6,527 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada hasil belajar kognitif. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menjalani model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II.Kata kunci: discovery learning, jigsaw II, literasi informasi, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe the mathematical representation ability of students with reflective cognitive style in solving geometric  problems. The subjects of this study were two students whose reflective cognitive style were selected based on the results of the MFFT test. The research method used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The ability of mathematical representation was described based on three standards of mathematical representation ability, namely; (1) creating and using representations to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas, (2) choosing, using and translating between representations to solve problems, (3) using representations to create models and interpret mathematical, physical, and social phenomena. The results showed that subjects with reflective cognitive style can use mathematical representation capabilities well from various types of representations, namely visual images, verbal written texts, and mathematical expressions.Key Words: mathematical representation ability, reflective cognitive style, geometric problemAbstrak: Riset ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa bergaya kognitif reflektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah bangun datar. Subjek penelitian ini adalah dua siswa yang bergaya kognitif reflektif yang dipilih berdasar hasil tes MFFT. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Kemampuan representasi matematis dideskripsikan berdasar tiga standar kemampuan representasi matematis, yaitu; (1) membuat dan menggunakan representasi untuk mengorganisasikan, mencatat, dan mengkomunikasikan ide-ide matematika, (2) memilih, menggunakan dan menerjemahkan antar representasi untuk menyelesaikan masalah, (3) menggunakan representasi untuk membuat model dan menginterpretasi fenomena matematis, fisik, dan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek dengan gaya kognitif reflektif dapat menggunakan kemampuan representasi matematis dengan baik dari berbagai jenis representasi, yaitu visual gambar, verbal teks tertulis, dan ekspresi matematis.Kata kunci: kemampuan representasi matematis, gaya kognitif reflektif, masalah geometris

Abstract

Abstract: Critical thinking skill is a skill in organizing and generating ideas, interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and knowledge inference based on evidence, concept, criteria, methodology, or contextual consideration. Students’ critical thinking skill are still low and need to be improved. Critical thinking skill can be developed through student-centered learning. One of the learning models that can be used is ERCoRe learning model. This research aims to know the influence of ERCoRe learning model toward students’ critical thinking skill. The design of this research was quasi-experimental, conducted on senior high school students class. The data analysis that used was covariant. The conclusion based on the result’s of the analysis showed that there is the influence of ERCoRe learning model toward students’ critical thinking skill compared to conventional strategy. Key Words: critical thinking skills, ERCoRe learning modelAbstrak: Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan seseorang dalam mengatur dan menghasilkan ide, menginterpretasi, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan menginferensi pengetahuan berdasarkan bukti, konsep, kriteria, metodologi, atau pertimbangan kontekstual yang sudah ada. Keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada umumnya masih rendah dan perlu ditingkatkan, di antaranya melalui penerapan kegiatan pembelajaran dimana siswa berperan aktif. Salah satunya model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan adalah model pembelajaran ERCoRe. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pem-belajaran ERCoRe terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Jenis penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen, yang dilakukan pada sampel kelas siswa SMA. Analisis data menggunakan analisis kovarian dengan simpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran ERCoRe terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis pada siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Abstract

Abstract: Human Reproductive System is a basic concept in biological sciences that is related to daily life and interesting for high school students. Complicated learning materials make it difficult for students to construct their knowledge and understand the concepts. Survey research using a questionnaire was conducted to determine the causes of difficulties for high school students in understanding the Human Reproductive System concepts. Respondents were grade XII science students and two teachers. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The research findings indicate that students’ difficulties are due to (1) the extensive usage of scientific terms, (2) abstract concepts, (3) monotone, and (4) inadequate sources of information. The implication of this result is that teachers are required to elaborate appropriate strategies and textbooks to lead students getting accurate knowledge. Key Words: learning difficulties, senior high school students, human reproductive system, teacher, textbook, misconceptionAbstrak: Sistem Reproduksi Manusia merupakan konsep dasar dalam ilmu biologi yang berkaitan de-ngan kehidupan sehari-hari dan menarik bagi siswa SMA untuk dipelajari. Namun, kompleksitas materi seringkali membuat siswa kesulitan dalam membangun struktur pengetahuan dan memahami konsep.  Penelitian survei dengan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dilakukan untuk mengetahui penyebab kesulitan siswa SMA dalam mempelajari materi ini yang berpotensi memicu miskonsepsi. Responden adalah siswa kelas XII IPA dan guru. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan siswa disebabkan karena: 1) terdapat istilah asing yang sulit dimengerti dan diingat, 2) beberapa sub konsep bersifat abstrak sehingga sulit dipahami dalam konteks nyata, 3) cara guru menyampaikan materi terlalu monoton dan tidak menarik, 4) sumber informasi yang kurang memadai. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah guru perlu mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran yang menarik dan memilih buku teks yang baik sehingga siswa memperoleh pengetahuan yang akurat.Kata kunci: kesulitan belajar, siswa SMA, sistem reproduksi manusia, guru, buku teks, miskonsepsi

Abstract

Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate relations of prior knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and age to competence of dual-expertise teachers. The study was conducted following a research design of ex-post facto. The samples were 102 dual-expertise teachers. To answer its problems, the study collected the data by using questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The data gathered were then analyzed employing desctiptive analysis, regression analysis, and partial correlation analysis. The study found that (1) there is a relation between the prior knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and age to the competence of dual-expertise teachers; (2) a relation is revealed between the prior knowledge and the competence of dual-expertise teachers; (3) a relation is identified between the mechanical aptitude and the competence of dual-expertise teachers; and (4) a relation is found between the age and the competence of dual-expertise teachers.Key Words: prior knowledge, mechanical aptitude, age, competence of dual-expertise teachers, “on-in-on-in” training modelAbstrak: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kompetensi awal, bakat mekanik, dan usia dengan kompetensi guru keahlian ganda. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian ex-postfacto. Sampel penelitian adalah 102 guru keahlian ganda. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, tes, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif, analisis regresi ganda, dan analisis korelasi parsial. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) ada hubungan kompetensi awal, bakat mekanik, dan usia dengan kompetensi guru keahlian ganda; (2) ada hubungan kompetensi awal dengan kompetensi guru keahlian ganda sebesar; (3) ada hubungan bakat mekanik dengan kompetensi guru keahlian ganda sebesar; dan (4) ada hubungan usia dengan kompetensi guru keahlian ganda sebesar.Kata kunci: kompetensi awal, bakat mekanik, usia, kompetensi guru keahlian ganda, model pelatihan “on–in–on–in”
