Factum: Jurnal Sejarah dan Pendidikan Sejarah promotes research in the broad field of history and Education with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from historian, educator, teacher, senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles Empirical studies Practice-oriented papers Case studies Review of papers, books, and resources. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any history and history education field. Abstract

The title of this research is “Growing up Students’ Curiosity Character in Learning History Through Puzzle Media in Class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Lembang”. This research was held in Class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Lembang. This research was motivated by the low of students’ curiosity character in learning history. The purpose of this research is how to grow the students’ curiosity in learning history among senior high school student, because most of them have wrong perception about learning history that considered as a boring lesson and only focused on text memorize without get the comprehensive perception related to the historical events. The developed indicators of the curiosity character in this research are the ability to ask questions, ability to answer questions from friends or teachers, ability to find out the information from books and the internet, then to contribute in group activities and class discussions, ability to interpret images in puzzles, and the ability to provide solutions of each questions in student work sheet (LKS). The research method used in this research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) by Kemmis and Mc Taggart. It consists of several stages, including the planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Based on the results of research, the character of the students’ curiosity in learning history has increased. It could be seen from the percentage that indicates students’ significant change. The percentage showed the change of students’ curiosity character which was not good enough to the good category. It can be a good recommendation for teachers or school to develop the learning process to grow students’ curiosity character, so that the learning would be more meaningful.

Abstract

The background of this research arose from the researcher’s concern to the students’ lack of ability to think chronologically in XI IPS 3 classroom. It is identified by their ignorance to temporal structure concept and low ability in demonstrating the concept of continuity and causality. So the aim of this study focuses in improving the students’ chronological thinking ability through the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type. This cooperative learning model picture and picture type allows students to work together in groups to achieve the learning purpose through pictures as its media. Therefore, by using pictures as media in learning avtivities it is aimed to help students reconstructing historical events. The method used in this study is a classroom action research (CAR), the research design is adapted from the work of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart where it consists of several cycle and each includes several phases; planning (plan), implementation (act), observations (Observe) and reflection (Reflect). The data was collected from observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results carried out during the four cycles, it can be concluded that there is a significant increase in the students’ ability to think chronologically. The increase was identified while the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type, the students showed high motivation towards the learning materials, enthusiasm to work together in groups to complete the task, the students become accustomed to write down timeline and the increase of ability to reconstruct events in chronological order. It shows that the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type can improve the students’ ability to think chronologically.

Abstract

This article entitled “The Development of Angklung Gubrag from Ritual Tradition to Entertainment. The main problem of this article is how the development of Angklung Gubrag art in Kecamatan Cigudeg, Kabupaten Bogor since 1983-2013. This research has target to describe the backround of the beginning of Angklung Gubrag arts, the development of Angklung Gubrag arts, the efforts of artist do to converst this art, and the efforts of government to push and keep the art of Angklung Gubrag. The method which used in this research is historical method which consist of heuristic, critics, interpretation, and historiography. Angklung Gubrag is one of the art which comes from Kecamatan Cigudeg Kabupaten Bogor. Arts of Angklung Gubrag growth on society that has system of animism and dinamism. Firstly, it is shown as ritual media on the ceremony of Seren Taun which held to respect Nyi Pohaci. As tradisional arts, it was handed down from one generation to the other, and it has changing a lot. It is caused by changing of thinking society and their believed. After 1983, the artist who come from Padepokan Seni Angklung Gubrag change the tradition of Seren Taun. The purpose of this changed was to make society receive this art again. So that, the Angklung Gubrag art is also changing to be an entertainment. These development gives the changes in instrument, dance, and song to estetic of the Angklung Gubrag show. Beside the artist, the goverment is also act as supporter and protector of Angklung Gubrag art.

Abstract

This research entitled as “Peranan Amir Machmud dalam Mempertahankan Pemerintahan Soeharto 1969-1982”. The main problem in this research is “How deep the role of Amir Machmud in maintaining Soeharto’s government 1969-1982?”. The hictorical method used in this research, that is consisting heuristic, critical sources, interpretation, and historiography. To deepen the analysis, the interdisipliner approach such as sociology and political science was used in this research, such as role, political stability, and general elections concepts also there was Patron-Client and Structuration theories. Amir Machmud was a prominent figure during Orde Baru period. Amir Machmud was born at Cibeber, Cimahi city and had successful military career during New Order era. Amir Machmud held position as minister of domestic affairs in 3 periods. As a minister, he had successfully carry on some urge problems to government, like PEPERA problem that considered as fraudulence because unappropriate based on New York agreement by international affairs.

Abstract

This research reviews about the role of a character in the formation and development of the Indonesian Republic military organization on the 1961 – 1965. The background why researcher taking this issue due to the interest in the condition of the development of the Indonesia military organization in the early period of independence. Which is in an all-round hazard and the need for a reliable unit, has forced TNI officer AD to engender a single entity, later called the army General Reserve or CADUAD that no other forerunner of strategic unity and also mobile that right now known as KOSTRAD. The method that used in this research is historical research by doing a four-step research, there are: heuristics, critique, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that CADUAD is the military organization which was formed and prepared to carry out the operations for the liberation of West Irian that has been delayed since a long time. The establishment of KOSTRAD as one unity of Indonesia’s elite military nowadays that is inseparable from the Research Staff Letter filed by Soeharto who is at that time had risen to become a major general. In the years 1961 – 1965, KOSTRAD has managed to carry out major operations, including Trikora Operation, Dwikora Operation, and operation Completion Problem G 30 S.

Abstract

This research entitled “Church Reform in England in 1529-1534: A Study of the Background of Establishment of Anglican Church in Britain”. The difference in characteristics of church reform in England is the background of this research. There are four main questions of research: (1) What was the situation of the Church of England before the Church Reform of 1534? (2) What were the factors of the Church’s Reformation in England in 1534? (3) How was the process of secession of the Church of England from the Roman Church in the Church Reformation of England in 1534? (4) How was the impact of the Church Reformation in England in 1534? The main purpose of this research is to describe about what happened during the Church Reformation process in Britain which took place in 1534. This study uses historical methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Based on research results, it was found that, one, the church situation in England is very bad. Corruption, demoralization, and veneration of relics become a culture. Two, Clement VII’s refusal to annul the marriage of King Henry VIII was the trigger of secession. Three, the process of separation is done through the Reform Parliament. The Act of Supremacy makes him the sole ruler of the Kingdom of England and Anglican Church. Four, the greatest impact was the religious crisis that occurred along the Tudor Dynasty, and the Kingdom of England became a country with complete sovereignty.

Abstract

This reasearch entitled “Peranan Malcolm X Dalam Perjuangan Hak-Hak Sipil Orang Kulit Hitam Tahun 1957-1965”. The method that used is hirostical method that divided into four steps, those are: heuristics, critique, interpretation and historiography as the tools to collecting data the researcher doing the study techniques with literature review that are relevant to the theme of this research. Based on the results of the study can be explained that Malcolm X or Ell-Haj Malik Ell-Shabbazz is the civil right struggle of blackcs who are quite notable, beside from being a struggler from the black civil rights, he also transformed as an Islamic figure of USA. So many ways that was struggled by Malcolm X to get the civil right of blacks, those are: created the relationship with another leader in the other country such as Kasem Gulick the leader of the Turkish parliament, and make the organization African American unity, attended in Asian African Conferenced in Bandung, make the Malcolm X Foundation. The struggles by Malcolm X are influenced from some prominent figure such as W.E.B Du Bois and Elijah Muhammad. The life of blacks is being well after struggling the civil right that was achieved by Malcolm X, the life of blacks began to rise after the struggles of the civil right by Malcolm X, the level of blacks began to increase, the various employment be able for blacks, the social facilities are not be differentianted, and the rights of election strated evenness.

Abstract

The object of this research is the development of coffee farming which once was traditional, now turned into modern agribusiness system, the effort of increasing harvest and the shifting of farming’s system on coffee are also giving contribution to economy-social life especially for the farmers’ society.  This research is emphasized on year 1990-2015, because at that period, there was a shifting in the farming system also the effort of increasing harvest at Margamulya village.  The aim of this research is to be involve in a farmer’s life who was developing the farming system with technology.  The method of this research is historical, which include heuristik, critics (external and internal), interpretation and graphical history.  The approach of this research is interdisciplinary concept of sociology, anthropology, economics, and farming especially agribusiness.  Concept which are taken from sociology are the society, social stratification, social mobility, farmer.  Concept which are taken from economics are occupation, income.  Also the concept which are taken from farming is agribusiness.  The writer is interested to have this theme because Margamulya Village is one of the finest coffee producer which is located at Pangalengan District-Bandung with agribusiness system.  The geographical area of Margamulya Village is very suitable to be developed as a farming area which is the economic source of their people.  Meanwhile, the usage of forest area as farming vegetable’s ones cause several damages that lead to conflict between the forest worker and the farmer in 1998.  To solve this conflict, there was a discussion which produce an agreement that are beneficial for both parties, which is changing commodity.  Changing commodity from vegetables to coffee.  The traditional coffee farming which was pioneered at 1990 only covered the main necessities of the farmer because of its low income, hence the interest of developing coffee was lacked.  With the agreement between the forest worker and the famer, coffee farming then developed into agribusiness system on 1998 which influenced to the increased of the harvest, in quantitiy also quality.  The shifting of the farming system that pioneered by the farmer’s desire and supported well by the government are very influencing to the success of farming business which led to the wealth of the farming’s society.
