Abstract

One of the changes done by the government in the field of education is changing Curriculum 2006 to be Curriculum 2013. This change impacts on the change of learning paradigm, which at the beginning it was teacher-centered learning changes to be students centered learning. Therefore, the learning strategy used by teachers should be addressed to facilitate competence achievement that in the end, it will improve students' achievement. This study was aimed to identify the effectivity of project-based interactive e-module media towards students' achievement in the subject of digital simulation. This study was categorized into pre-experimental quantitative research with one group pretest-posttest design. The data analysis method used was a paired sample t-test. The results showed the significance value obtained was 0.000 which means higher than α. This means that there is an average score difference of students' achievement between before and after using the project based interactive e-module. The post-test average score is 82.65 which is higher than the average pre-test score of 43.40. It can be concluded that digital simulation learning by using the project based interactive e-module can improve the students’ achievement.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate (1) the implementation of the jigsaw technique, (2) the students’ participation in the jigsaw technique, and (3) the learning achievement of the students in the course of painting technology through the jigsaw technique. This study used a classroom action research design developed by Kemmis and Mc Taggart in 2 cycles. The study was conducted in the Department of Automotive Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University involving 28 students. The data collection method used documentation, observation and tests. The instruments used in this study include: an observation sheet and a written test. The data analysis techniques used comparative descriptive and qualitative. The results of this study were: (1) the implementation of the jigsaw technique was conducted in 2 cycles in the subject of painting defects, with the formation of the groups as heterogeneous, delivering the common materials, a pretest, and group discussions between the source and the expert groups (in 2 cycles), and a post test , (2) learning with jigsaw technique can improve the quality of the students’ learning, and (3) the jigsaw technique increases 74% of the value of the pretest and the post test.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Beberapa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menguasai sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik dikarenakan kesulitan dalam membayangkan atau mengimajinasikan gerakan-gerakan komponen sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik. Hal ini mengakibatkan hambatan pada penguasaan desain dan aplikasi sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dosen pengajar mata kuliah Mekatronika menggunakan aplikasi Automation Studio. Software ini membantu dalam desain berbagai automasi, seperti kombinasi sistem hidrolik, sistem pneumatik, sistem elektrik dan PLC. Ceramah dosen dan simulasi desain yang dilakukan mahasiswa menggunakan bantuan Automation studio. Secara umum, mahasiswa sangat terbantu dengan software tersebut. Di sisi lain, ditemukan permasalahan dalam pengaplikasian program Automation Studio di kelas, misalnya terbatasnya menu program dan permasalahan seputar terbatasnya jumlah komputer. Implikasi dari pengalaman penulis dalam menggunakan Automation Studio adalah terbukanya peluang bagi para programer komputer untuk menciptakan program/software pembelajaran yang relevan dengan kompetensi tertentu, terjangkau, dan mudah digunakan. Selain itu disarankan juga agar dosen dan mahasiswa melakukan persiapan atau pengkondisian sebelum perkuliahan berjalan berkaitan dengan penyiapan software yang akan digunakan selama kuliah berlangsung.   Kata Kunci: automation studio program, learning process, Pneumatic and hydraulic learning

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine; 1) the relevance of competencies in curriculum 2013 with the expectation of the school and the world of business and industry 2) the competencies expected by the school and the world of business and industry for the development of curriculum 2013, and 3) the roles of lecturers and education experts in the implementation of curriculum 2013, especially for the Department of Automotive, Vocational High Schools in Yogyakarta. The study was conducted with survey approach in the industry (authorized workshops), schools (Vocational High School), and universities (YSU and STU). The data collection was conducted using documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data was analysed using quantitative descriptive statistics. The results showed that: the relevance of competencies in curriculum 2013 with the expected competencies was 82% to 89%. The competencies expected by the schools and the world of business and industry consists of drawing with autocad and / or 3D max, spooring, as well as maintaining hidroulik power steering, measuring and analyzing vehicle emissions, maintaining hydraulic power steering (HPS), analyzing damage in the system of wiring diagram, and conducting damage diagnosis. The lectures’ contribution in the socialization and  implementation aspects were categorized as good with the mean scores of 73 and 39.5 respectively.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAugmanted Reality for android handphone has been a trend among collage students of computer department who join New Media course. To develop this application, the knowladge about visual presentation theory and case study of Augmanted Reality on android phoneneed to be conducted. Learning media through virtual class can facilitate the students’ needs in learning and developing Augmanted Reality. The method of this study in developing virtual class for Augmented Reality learning were: a) having preparation to arrange learning unit, b) analyzing and developing the content of learning materials, c) designing storyboard or scenario of the virtual class, d) making website of virtual class, e) implementing the website as facility of online learning for Augmanted Reality. The available facilities in virtual class were to check learning units, to choose and download the material in the forms of e-book and presentation slides, to open the relevant website link for material enrichment as well as students’ practice with pre-test and post-test for measuring students’ understanding. By implementing virtual class for Augmanted Reality learning based Android, it is expected to provide alternative learning strategies for students that are interesting and easy to understand. The students are expected to be able to utilize this facility optimally in order to achieve the purposes of learning process and graduates’ competence. Keywords: VirtualClass, Augmented Reality (AR)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) hasil tes seleksi masuk program D3 Reguler Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FT UNY) dan prestasi akademik mahasiswa D3 FT UNY yang lulus tes seleksi dan (2) daya prediksi tes seleksi terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa D3 FT UNY. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di FT UNY dengan menggunakan teknik analisis dokumen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa baru program D3 FT UNY tahun 2005 yang diterima melalui tes seleksi sebanyak 219 orang. Semua populasi dijadikan sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diambil dari dokumen hasil tes seleksi masuk dan pencapaian indeks prestasi semester I pada tahun akademik 2005/ 2006. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif dan korelasional dengan menggunakan bantuan program SPSS 10. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh hasil penelitian Sebagai berikut: (1) rerata skor hasil tes seleksi masuk program D3 reguler= 261, 733 masuk dalam kategori baik, (2) rerata indeks prestasi yang dicapai mahasiswa angkatan 2005/2006= 2,711 masuk dalam kategori baik dan (3) tes seleksi masuk program D3 Reguler tahun 2005 memiliki korelasi positif terhadap pencapaian indeks prestasi mahasiswa dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,68. Dengan kata lain, skor tes seleksi masuk memberikan kontribusi sebesar 46,24% terhadap capaian indeks prestasi. Artinya tes seleksi masuk program D3 Reguler FT UNY memiliki daya prediksi yang cukup baik. Oleh karena itu, tes seleksi masuk ini dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu cara untuk seleksi penerimaan mahasiswa baru FT UNY dalam rangka mendapatkan calon mahasisawa yang berkualitas.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe face to face learning process focuses on teacher-centered learning (the center of the learning activityis on the teacher or lecturer – the students just notice and listen the lecturer’s explanation), it is the reverse ofstudent-centered learning (students’ active participation). The changing of learning model from teacher-centeredapproach into student-learning center should be conducted to increase the students’ active participation in SystemDesign and Analysis course. The research methods to improve students’ softskills competency through studentcentredlearning were (a) making lecturer team who taught System Design and Analysis course (b) reviewingthe syllabus of lecturing unit (c) developing a learning model of student learning center to maximize the students’hardskills and to stimulate their softskills (d) conducting socialization of new revised syllabus of lecturing unitthat covered softskills competency, of which it had been validated by the university party (e) implementing thelearning process with the student-learning center approach by using syllabus of System Design and Analysiswhich covered softskills competency. Abstract

The objective of this study was to improve the quality of learning in the subject of Restaurant indicated by the improvement of learning activities and the students’ achievement through the application of contextual learning in the department of Hospitality Engineering. This study is categorised into classroom action research. The data was analysed descriptively. The results revealed: (1) The students were more active in the learning process as indicated by the improvement of the learning activities proved by the following data: in the first cycle, the percentages of the students who pay attention to the lecturers’ explanation, answer questions by providing daily life examples, express opinions, and conduct presentations were 47.5%, 25% 12.5%, 15% respectively, while in the second cycle, they were 52.5%, 12.5%, 50%, 10% respectively. (2) The students demonstrate better mastery of the materials as indicated by the following data: the percentages of the students who achieved very good, good, fair and poor scores were 10%, 50%, 15% and 25% respectively while in the second cycle the students who achieved very good and good scores were 62.5% and 37.5% respectively.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran mata kuliah Restoran yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa Prodi PT Boga melalui penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Analisis data yang digunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: (1) keaktifan mahasiswa pada pembelajaran Restoran meningkat, terlihat dari data siklus I, mahasiswa memperhatikan penjelasan dosen sebanyak 47,5%, mahasiswa menjawab pertanyaan dengan memberikan contoh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sebanyak 25%, mahasiswa mengemukakan pendapat sebanyak 12,5% dan mahasiswa melakukan presentasi sebanyak 15%, pada siklus II keaktifan belajar mahasiswa memperhatikan penjelasan dosen meningkat sebesar 52,5%, menjawab pertanyaan meningkat 12,5%, mengemukakan pendapat meningkat 50%, dan kegiatan presentasi meningkat 10%; 2) tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa terhadap materi pembelajaran Restoran meningkat, terlihat dari data siklus I, 10% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai amat baik, 50% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai baik, 15% mahasiswa memperoleh cukup, dan 25% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai kurang, pada siklus II, hasil belajar mahasiswa pada siklus II adalah 62,5% mahasiswa mendapatkan nilai amat baik dan 37,5% mahasiswa mendapatkan nilai baik.

Abstract

Literacy of the vocational teachers can certainly improve aspects of knowledge, skills and attitudes of a person thus the main competence of teachers can be achieved. The objective of this study was to reveal the relationship and the contribution of self regulatory learning (X1), personal goal setting (X2), and perception of the teaching profession (X3) with the literacy of vocational teachers (Y). This study used a quantitative method with descriptive correlational research design. The sample of this study consisted of the students of the bachelor degree program of Electrical Engineering Education in the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Malang in the academic year of 2014 with 114 respondents. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire adapted using a likert scale. Data analysis used multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed there was a significant relationship between X1, X2, and X3 with Y either partially or simultaneously. The ability of self regulation learning, personal goal setting, and perceptions of the teaching profession contributed 56.3% to achieving literacy of vocational teachers, with a variable sequence that contributes from high to low were self regulatory learning, perceptions of the teaching profession and personal goal setting.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to improve the readiness of the students in performing Field Practice through peer teaching practice and Jigsaw cooperative learning approach. The approach of the study used classroom action research with the subject of the study were the students of bachelor program of Electronical Engineering who took video technique course. The study was done by the following steps, pre-action to balance the researcher’s perception and debriefing consisting designing lesson plan and micro teaching. The validity of the instruments of pedagogy competency was analyzed by item correlation, the result were, preparation r=0,73; implementation r=0,89 and evaluation r=0,97. The result of reliability testing for preparation was very reliable with r=0,89; implementation is very reliable with r=0,97 and implementation is less reliable with r=0,53. The result of the study showed that the students get a real picture of teacher’s responsibility through the exposure to the experiences of peer-tutoring, preparation, teaching practice, and evaluating the result of the study.The students’competence in preparation, teaching, and evaluating the result of study was improved cycle by cycle. The improvement in students’teaching skills was followed by improvement of the result of video technique learning outcomes.
