Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to investigate the implementation of the curriculum (2) to examine the condition of the equipment used in Oxy-Acetylene Welding (OAW) practices 3) to identify problems experienced by the students and the lecturers (4) to determine the students’achievement of OAW practices. This study was categorised into descriptive quantitative. It was explorative with the Context, Input, Process and Product (CIPP) evaluation method. The objects of this study were the students in the course of OAW practices. The data collection techniques were documentation, observation and questionnaires administration. The data was analysed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the OAW practices curriculum was very effective with the mean scores of 93.4%. The problems experienced by the students were resulted from the materials, the equipment, the lecturers, the toolman, the workshop environment, and the jobsheets. Each of them contributed fairly to the problems. The problems consist of low motivation, low safety concerns, inadequate rooms, inadequate equipment and low quantity of practices. The students learning achievement was very good indicated by 60% of the students achieved the good score

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) on the students’ motivation, understanding, and final assessment in the course of Computational Engineering. CTL allows students to participate and play an active role in learning to improve achievements. This study was a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were the students of the Study Program of Mechatronics, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University who took the course of Computational Engineering. The data collection was conducted using observation, closed questionnaires, interviews and open questionnaires. The results showed  CTL could increase the students’ motivation indicated by the increasing number of students who asked questions during the lectures  from 5% to 60%.  In addition, the students' understanding of the materials was also increased evidenced by the ability of the students to complete the task without the lecturers’ assistance from 25% to 100% at the end of the third cycle. At the end of the third cycle, 80% of the member of the students had reached more than the score of B, and it is expected by the end of the semester, all students would get more than the score of B.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis reserach aims at accelerating the mastery of teaching skills by involving the students as supervisor on Micro Teaching course. This reserach can be catagorized as action research with Kurt Lewin Model which consisted of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The reserach subject was the students of Automotive Engineering Education Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University who joined Micro Teaching corse in the academic year of 2010/ 2011. This reserach was conducted on April to May 2011. The reserach instruments were using observation sheet and evaluation sheet for learning process. The actions were catagorized successful if at least 65% of the students of Micro Teaching course obtained the score of 81 or more before the final week of the course. Data analysis technique was using comparative-quantitaive technique. The result showed that 1) by triggering the students to be a supervisor, the students became aware of teacher role that made their teaching performance better. The students obtained better score where the score of 81 or more (66.6%) than last semester (55.5%), 2) The interval to obatain target score can be accomplished faster than the last semester, 3) There were also other positive effects of giving the role of supervisor for the students, i.e. trained the students to give opinion (verbal). The students become accustomed to speak fluently, as required for being teacher.    Keywords: teaching skills, students role, supervisorABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui apakah dengan melibatkan maha-siswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro secara aktif sebagai supervisor dapat mempercepat penguasaan keterampilan mengajar bagi mahasiswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kurt Lewin, yang meliputi empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif  Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta peserta Pengajaran Mikro Tahun Akademik 2010/2011. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April dan Mei 2011. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa Lembar Observasi dan Lembar Evaluasi proses pembelajaran. Tindakan yang dilakukan dikategorikan berhasil apabila sekurang-kurangnya 65% mahasiswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro memperoleh nilai 81 atau lebih, yang dicapai sebelum minggu terakhir perkuliahan di semester genap 2010/2011. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik komparatif-kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Dengan mengaktifkan mahasiswa untuk ikut menjadi supervisor, menjadikan mahasiswa tahu apa yang harus dilakukan pada saat mahasiswa tersebut melaksanakan praktik mengajar, sehingga kemampuan mengajarnya menjadi lebih cepat meningkat dan men-jadi lebih baik. Nilai yang diperoleh mahasiswa juga menjadi lebih baik, dalam arti mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai bagus meningkat jumlahnya. Mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai 81 atau lebih, sebesar 66,6%, sedangkan pada semester yang sama tahun sebelumnya sebesar 55,5%. 2) Waktu yang diperlukan untuk mencapai target nilai yang ditetapkan, dapat ditempuh dengan waktu yang lebih cepat, yaitu sekitar dua minggu lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan semester genap tahun sebelumnya. 3) Dengan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai supervisor diperoleh pula manfaat yang lain, yaitu mahasiswa berlatih mengeluarkan pendapat dengan cara lisan (berbicara). Ini mempunyai efek, mahasiswa menjadi terbiasa untuk berbicara, sehingga bicaranya lancar, sesuai yang dibutuhkan oleh seorang guru.Kata kunci: keterampilan mengajar, peran mahasiswa, supervisi

Abstract

This study established a system to implement Visual Basic 6.0 and the MySQL database for archives management that are effective and efficient in accordance with the needs of the administrative system in the Department of Electronics Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, YSU. Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 is a software that is able to be applied on windows xp, vista, windows 7, or operating systems that are commonly used in offices. The application will be able to store the presence data of lecturers, incoming mails, outgoing mails, and the biodata of lecturers. In addition, with the crystal report, the system is able to print the archive reports, to search archives, and with the tools provided by Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, it can be made into an installer application that can be run on other computers without having to reset the MySQL database.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aim at revealing: (1) graduate absorption from bachelor of education Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) in job market, (2) information of suitability of competence and job oppportunity, (3) feedback from graduates’ employer/ user, (4) opinion form the alumnae. This study can be catagorized as survey research which was conducted in September till November  2010. The research population was the graduates from the year of 2006 to 2012 and this study employed snowball technique as  data collection technique. The instrument of data collection were using open and closed questionnaire with online or offline process. The online procedure was through website of  http://ft.uny.ac.id/tracer, email of tracerftuny@gmail.com while the offline one was through sending letter. The qualitative data were analyzed by crosstab and percentage and the qualitative one was using categorial analysis.   The findings showed that (1) the graduates’absorption can be catagorized as good catagory, the waiting period for the graduates to get a job was less than 3 months with percentage of 52.8%, for period of 3-6 months was 23.1%, more than 12 months was 7.2% and not giving answer was 5.6%; (2) the students’ competence also catagorized as good catagory, but for supporting aspects such as managerial and leadership aspect still needed to be improved; (3) the feedback from graduates’ employers or users were in case of improving managerial ability, leadership aspect, foreign language competence, information technology skills, and soft skills (4) the suggestions from alumnae or the graduates of Faculty of Engineering YSU in order to develop graduates competence on education field were the separation between students community service and teaching practicum though it took in the same location of school,  enhancing the guidence process with the  lecturers such for scientific writing, enhancing the experience of teaching on the real context especially for the students with educational background, enhancing learning based multimedia, developing the curriculum which was suited with Vocational High School, and the teaching methodology also needed to be reviewed and improved.Keywords: bachelor of education, graduates absorption and graduates’tracer study

Abstract

The objective of this study was to improve the students’ motivation and achievement in the subject of Budget Plan through the implementation of the constructivist learning model with three-dimensional image media at the Department of Wood Construction Engineering of SMK Negeri 2 Pengasih.  This study was a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 28 students of class III of Wood Construction Engineering, SMK Negeri 2 Pengasih in the second semester of the academic year of 2014/ 2015. The data of the student's motivation was obtained using questionnaires adapted from the model of John Keller, namely; Action, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction (ARCS). While the data of the students’ achievement was obtained using tests. The results revealed the application of the constructivist learning model increases the students’ motivation and achievement. It’s indicated by the improvement of the students’ motivation from the first cycle to the second cycle that was 28.52%. While the improvement of the students’ achievement, learning absorption and mastery were 7.34%, 7.34%, and 75.01% respectively.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Rencana Anggaran Biaya (RAB) melalui model konstruktivistik dengan media file gambar 3 dimensi pada siswa kelas III Teknik Konstruksi Kayu SMK Negeri 2 Pengasih. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas III Teknik Konstruksi Kayu SMK Negeri 2 Pengasih semester genap tahun pelajaran 2014/ 2015 yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Data tentang motivasi siswa diperoleh dengan metode angket model dari John Keller yaitu; Action, Relevance, Confidence, dan Satisfaction (ARCS), sedangkan prestasi hasil belajar diperoleh dengan metode tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model konstrukrivistik dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar siswa. Peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II sebesar 28,52%. Sedangkan pada aspek lain dari siklus I ke siklus II yaitu terdapat peningkatan prestasi hasil belajar rata-rata skor 7,34%, daya serap 7,34%, dan ketuntasan belajar 75,01%.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe Student Company program and its effect on entrepreneurial competencies of vocational high school students in Yogyakarta. This research is expost facto study. The research was conducted at SMK 1 Depok, SMK 2Depok, SMK 1 Godean, SMK 7 Yogyakarta and SMK 1 Seyegan. Data collection techniques were questionnaires and observation. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The results of this study were: (1) Student company was effective to improve the entrepreneurship competencies of vocational high school students in Yogyakarta. The effectiveness of planning aspects was in excellent category (42.11%), the implementation aspects was in the good category (35.79%), and the effectiveness of the controls was in the good category (48.42%). (2) Entrepreneurship competencies of students who took SC were in the good category (56.84%). (3) The planning aspect of student company has significant effect on the entrepreneurship competencies of students (t=2.954;Sig= 0.004). (4) The implementation aspects have significant effect on the entrepreneurship competencies of students (t= 3.627;Sig=0.000). (5) The control aspect does not have significant effect on the entrepreneurship competencies of students (t=0.573;Sig=0.568). (6) The aspects of planning, implementation, and control simultaneously have a significant effects on the entrepreneurship competence of vocational high school students in Yogyakarta (F=8.755;Sig =0.000).

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe supporting and inhibiting factors in blended learning implementation for the students of computer and network engineering expertise program and (2) describe the accomplishment level of the implementation. This study is designed as a descriptive study with quantitative approach. The research object is the blended learning implementation in computer and network engineering expertise program in SMK N 1 Baureno Bojonegoro. The research subjects consist of teachers, facilities, materials and applications and students in the blended learning implementation process. The data was collected using observation, surveys and interviews. It was analyzed using percentages and classification analysis. The results reveals that the blended learning has been appropriately implemented. It is proven by the analysis result of supporting and inhibiting factors including facilities, teachers’ skill, materials and applications and blended learning accomplishment. The result is also supported by the description about blended learning activity, the use of facilities, blended learning composition and the impact of implementing blended learning. The weaknesses in the implementation process are the low quantity and quality of personal computers and inadequate internet connection. Teachers and school boards are expected to work collaboratively to solve the problems thus the implementation of blended learning can be maximized.

Abstract

This study analysed the implementation of the Indonesian Qualification Framework based vocational curriculum in the three years program of an electronics engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The analysis was focused on lecturers and students’ views. This evaluation used the model of Context, Input, Process, Product by involving 49 students in the 3rd  semester, 6 lecturers, and administration staff. The findings showed that the implemented learning activities using the new curriculum paradigm are reliable. The context analysis indicated the correlation between lecturers’ competence and qualification and the goals of the study program. The input analysis showed that the lecturer's assignment was appropriate and correspond with lecturers’ subject and education background. The process analysis revealed that the learning process was in accordance with the lectures’ planning. In addition, the practicum activities were reportedly consistent with the academic calendar. The product analysis, in the form of courses distribution each semester, suggested that the needs for improvement to fit the new curriculum paradigm design.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapat  gambaran (1) pemahaman  guru tentang KTSP, (2) upaya inovasi pembelajaran oleh guru dalam menerapkan KTSP, (3) hambatan guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran sesuai tuntutan penerapan KTSP dan upaya mengatasinya. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian survey yang dilakukan terhadap guru-guru SMK Negeri di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta . Populasi penelitian ini adalah  guru produktif SMK Negeri Kelompok Teknologi Industri di DIY. Sampel diambil dengan teknik proporsional random sampling dengan mempertimbangkan jenis SMK. Metode pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan angket. Data dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) sebanyak 8,33% responden berada pada kategori sangat baik dalam penerapan KTSP; 41,67% responden berada pada kategori baik; 47,22% responden berada pada kategori sedang dan sisanya sebesar 2,78% berada pada kategori rendah, (2) Upaya inovasi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan tuntutan KTSP guru-guru SMK telah menerapkan prinsip-prinsip pembelajaran konstruktivisme, pembelajaran kontekstual (Contextual Teaching and Learning), pembelajaran berbantuan media  dan holistic assessment walaupun belum secara menyeluruh dan lengkap dan (3) Hambatan utama yang dirasakan guru dalam implementasi KTSP adalah fasilitas yang terbatas dan sosialisasi KTSP kepada guru yang belum optimal serta sumber informasi KTSP yang masih kurang.
