Abstract

Dyscalculia is a learning disability. It affects the arithmetic ability of student, and usually can’t be separated from mathematical learning difficulty. It is usually occurred in early stage of learning, and unless an intervention (traditional or digital) is given, the disability will persist until adulthood. This paper will present an overview of current condition of dyscalculia in Indonesia. Researches in traditional and digital intervention and the role of computer-assisted instruction are also discussed.

Abstract

Development of an obstacle avoiding robot model is required as a fundamental step towards a bigger goal, for example development of an autonomous vehicle. An obstacle avoiding robot uses a proximity sensor module, besides other parts. In this case, this robot uses a proximity sensor developed by ourselves. The robot is controlled by a program that is embedded into a microcontroller. The logics produced by the microcontroller are further processed by an interface module, in this case, also developed by ourselves. The interface module translates microcontroller’s logics into voltage and current that can practically drive the two motors. This article provides a report on the project activity, consisting of summary of the design, summary of the development process and report on the running test of the robot. Following the test and program fine-tuning, it has been proven that the robot model operated well just as programmed.

Abstract

Iqra Learning is the first step in studying al-Qur’an, because al-Qur’an is a way of life for Muslims, no exception blind people. Limitations of learning device of al-Qur’an for the blind becomes an obstacle for the blind to learn Qur'an. This research describes the design of electronic learning device of Iqra Braille for blind people. This system consists of a computer that serves as an interface to manage Iqra braille to be read by the blind people, the mikrokontroler ATMega328P-PU which serves as a data processor of a computing device that can be translated in the braille code, and Braille Display devices which serves to show Braille codes from the data Iqra. Communication between computer and mikrokontroler used Bluetooth media. The results show that the system that has been made to run well. Braille Iqra data which entered by teachers can be displayed on a Braille Display.

Abstract

Kebutuhan rumah tinggal merupakan kebutuhan primer bagi manusia. Meningkatnya jumlah penduduk pada tiap tahun mengakibatkan meningkatnya kebutuhan rumah tinggal. Peningkatan kebutuhan rumah tinggal tidak menutup kemungkinan berubahnya fungsi lahan-lahan pertanian, hutan, dan kawasan lainnya menjadi lahan permukiman baru. Permasalahan ini juga menjadi salah satu fokus pengambangan di Kabupaten Jember. Tidak semua lahan di Kabupaten Jember layak untuk menjadi lahan pemukiman. Pertimbangan penentuan kesesuaian lahan yang optimal untuk wilayah permukiman menggunakan berbagai parameter seperti kemiringan lereng, kerawanan bencana, tekstur tanah, kepekaan tanah terhadap erosi, aksesibilitas, curah hujan, serta penggunaan lahan. Penentuan kesesuaian lahan pada penelitian ini digunakan metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) untuk mendapatkan nilai bobot pada setiap parameter. Hasil dari penelitian ini membagi Kabupaten Jember menjadi 3 kawasan permukiman, yaitu kawasan permukiman sangat sesuai (S1) sebanyak 18,35%, kawasan permukiman sesuai sebanyak 65,3%, dan kawasan permukiman tidak sesuai (NS) adalah sebanyak 16,36%.

Abstract

Visually to distinguish ordinary chicken eggs and chicken eggs with omega-3 is very difficult because the physical shape and color of the eggs look the same.  From the price, chicken eggs with omega-3 is more expensive than the ordinary eggs. This aim of the research is to create an analyst system which is able to recognize type of eggs based on the texture with several steps in image processing techniques. Several image processing techniques used namely conversion of the RGB image to gray scale, remove noise with a gaussian filter, segmentation using thresholding method, and analysis with first-order statistical method that are extracted from each image of eggs. Results of the research showed that the ordinary chicken eggs and chicken eggs with omega - 3 have different statistical values

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang manajemen pengelolaan naskah dengan sistem pewaktuan timestamp linking scheme menggunakan hashed message authentication code sebagai fungsi hash yang dipakai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun Sistem Informasi Pengelolaan Naskah yang dapat digunakan oleh redaksi maupun pengarang dan membuat alur pengelolaan yang dapat memastikan tahap penerbitan yang benar-benar dilakukan oleh pengguna pada waktu yang sebenarnya. Timestamp Linking Scheme merupakan salah satu metode pewaktuan dalam pengelolaan guna membantu dalam pencatatan aktivitasnya agar memiliki keabsahan. Hashed Message Authentication Code merupakan salah satu metode untuk menghitung fungsi hash dengan mempertimbangkan kunci sebelum dienkripsi. Studi kasus yang diambil adalah pada Penerbit Indie Pustaka Jingga. Pembuatan timestamp menggunakan beberapa kombinasi atribut seperti pesan aktivitas pengelolaan asli, pesan aktivitas yang dienkripsi, waktu, ID, posisi tahap, dan link timestamp pada tahap sebelumnya. Sistem Pengelolaan Naskah yang dibangun berhasil memverifikasi keabsahan aktivitas pengelolaan naskah dengan membandingkan link pada tahap sekarang cocok dengan tanda tangan digital yang ada pada tahap berikutnya.Kata kunci: Timestamp linking scheme, hashed message authentication code, pengelolaan naskah.

Abstract

Nowadays student and teacher in Indonesia have a massive use of smart phones, tablet and other portable device. All these smart phones and other portable devices are equipped or ready for social media applications like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Instagram which are part of what is known as Social Media. Social media is a popular method for communication amongst students in Indonesia. However excessive social media use can raise questions about whether academic performance is affected. This paper aims to investigate the use of social media in teaching and learning as a scaffolding tool, and the impact of that on teachers and students with case study SMA Yapita Surabaya. The study implemented a 30-item questionnaire aimed to investigate student’s views in smart devices use and access, the current use of social website, the use of the web, views of the impact of social media on education, and views of possible impact of official use of social media on learning. It’s apparently that smart phone is the best possible device to enhance the use of social media in education, where more than three quarters of students have smart phones. For the internet access, 79% of students have internet access on their smartphone, and only 32% of them who have internet access at home. In regards the social media application, it is clear that Facebook as a main tool, with 89% of the student use this application. At the end, this research concludes that the teacher and the students need a series of training session to evaluate their own use of social media, and to enhance their abilities to use available properties.

Abstract

This paper shows the improvement of current characteristic rule learning in Attribute Oriented Induction (AOI) data mining technique. The proposed algorithm was applied with improvement upon current algorithm with 3 steps where the first step is elimination for checking condition if there is no higher level concept in concept hierarchy for attribute. The second step is elimination of attribute removal if fulfill for checking condition if there is no higher level concept. The third step is elimination of attributes in input dataset which no higher level concept in concept hierarchy. The development of these data mining algorithm applied Knowledge Data Discovery (KDD) methodology which consist 7 steps. Current and proposed AOI characteristic rule learning were implemented with server programming such as PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) and using 4 input datasets such as adult, breast cancer, census and IPUMS from University of California, Irvine (UCI) machine learning repository. The experiments showed that proposed AOI characteristic rule are better than current AOI characteristic rule, where experiments upon adult, breast cancer, census, IPUMS datasets have average 11, 3.8, 7.2, 7.2 respectively times better performance. The experiments were carried on AMD A10-7300(1.90 GHz) processor with 8.00 GB RAM
