Abstract

This training aims to apply science and technology on how to create a website that can be used as a learning media. Software that is used in this training is software based on open source. While the trainees are vocational teachers in IT (Information Technology) situated in the Province of DI. Yogyakarta. Training starts by registration of participants with the minimum re- quirements can operate the computer properly. At the beginning of training, participants were given pretest to determine initial capacity of participants about website development. Next, topic that starts from the introduction of internet, web server installation and CMS software installation. Then, the core topic is given on how to create websites as a learning media. Further topic is how to upload the website on the internet. Providing topic ends with providing independent tasks for each participant to create their own website as a learning media tailored to the field of teaching participants. At the end of the training, participants are given posttest. Final competency determi- nation based on participant self-assessment task, pretest and posttest. From the number of participants as many as 18 teachers, all can follow the training from beginning to end. In addition, teachers can com- plate all these tasks well independently, that is able to create websites as a learning media in good categories. Abstract

The objectives of community development activity are: 1) give alternative of processing technology of arrowroot for group of farmer KSM Mekar Sari di Desa Gegunung, Kel. Sendangsari, Kec. Pengasih, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, so that can yield arrowroot starch that fulfills standard quality with appropriate packaging and labeling; 2) know extraction technology  efficiency  of  arrowroot  starch  with  mechanically  hydraulic press;  3)  give  alternative  of  food  product  to  consumer  in the  form of arrowroot starch-based cookies that high nutrition and fulfills standard quality; and 4) give an opportunity for home industry with exploiting of arrowroot so can be empowered and increases public prosperity, especially farmer arrowroot. The community development  activity was  done  from July up  to November 2009 and divided to become some phases, that is preparation, implementation and evaluation. At preparation phase was done by designing of extraction arrowroot starch machine, making of hydraulic press machine for arrowroot starch extraction, making of arrowroot starch-based cookies, design of packaging and labeling, making of training matter and evaluation sheet. Implementation phase was done with discourse method, discussion, demonstration, practice of processing technology of arrowroot starch with hydraulic press machine, and practice of making of arrowroot starch-based cookies for general and diabetic consumer. Discourse matter contains about arrowroot characteristics and damage cause, processing technology of arrowroot, packaging and labeling, sanitary and hygiene, food safety, and economic analysis in the form of determination of production cost, selling price and BEP. Evaluation phase covered evaluation of input, process, product, and satisfaction of activity participant. Based on result and discussion can concluded that: 1) Community development activity  have been done on 1 and 15 November 2009 followed by 21 members of group of farmer KSM Mekar Sari; 2) Extraction technology of arrowroot  starch with  hydraulic  press  machine  can  yield arrowroot starch closing standard quality of arrowroot starch according to SNI with appropriate packaging and labeling; 3) Extraction technology of arrowroot starch with hydraulic press machine more efficiently is compared to separation technique applied before all; 4) Alternative of food product in the form of arrowroot starch-bases cookies to general and diabetic consumer that   high   nutrition  and   fulfills   standard  quality;   and  5)   Processing technology and diversification of arrowroot starch product  can open an opportunity for home industry that can be powered and increases resilience of food on local food material-based

Abstract

The partner industry in this Vucer program is Q-Sal Accessories. The purpose is to overcome the problem faced by the partner industry, which are: 1) get the effective and efficient print tool construction of salak's pelt craft motive, 2) get the show action grade information of salak's pelt craft motive  of  vucer  result,  3)  improve  the  quality  and  productivity of the souvenir that produced by Q-Sal Accessories industry. The  methods  used  to  handle  this  problem  are:  a)  field  survey to observe the process of souvenir production in Q-Sal Accessories in Salak Pondoh Agro Wisata area, Kenteng, Wonokerto, Turi, Sleman, Yogyakarta, b) need analysis and concept making, c) design development, d) production process of print tool of salak's pelt souvenir craft motive, e) try out of print tool of salak's pelt souvenir craft motive in the partner industry. Result obtained from this programs are: a) the creation of the model of print tool of salak's pelt souvenir craft motive, b) the obtained of  the show action grade information of  salaks' pelt craft motive. Previously, scissors achieved 3-4 pieces of salak's pelt motive, while  print tool of salak's pelt souvenir craft motive attained 12-15 pieces in every minute, c) the quality improvement of salak's pelt souvenir, that are more precise, smoother, and same piece portion. The productivity increase 30% than it was, since the product output is also determined by the skill of the workers

Abstract

This activity aims to: (1) introduce environmentally friendly mebele/wood finishing materials to the communities and (2) equip skill of environmentally friendly mebele/wood finishing application techniques to the communities. The  target  groups  of  this  activity  are  mebele  workers/business persons and  the  youths  in  Desa  Pathuk,  Kecamatan Pathuk,  Kabupaten Gunung Kidul, D.I. Yogyakarta. The total participants are 28 persons, 12 workers and 16 local village youths. The activity methods are: (1) lecture and  discussion, (2) question and  answer,  (3) finishing  practice,  and  (4) evaluation of the activity products. Various materials applied in the training are Ultran Aqua Politur, Aqua Lacquer Impra, Aqua  Wood Finish, and IAWF. The equipments for finishing application include various number polish papers, portable polisher, finishing material tin container, spray gun, and compressor. The products of activity are: (1) the environmentally friendly finishing  materials,  generally using  water as  a solvent  material.  (2) the procedure of environmentally friendly based finishing technique appli- cation: (a) wood surface preparation using polisher number 180, (b) rubbing wood filler evenly to the wood surface, (c) polishing by the number 240, (d) wood  stain  application  by  brushing  or  spraying,  (e)  sending  sealer application using water as solvent  material,  and  (e) final layering using alternatives of selected clear gloss/clear dove/semi gloss materials. The fifth and sixth steps, the maximum water solvent material addition of 20% for spraying application, and the maximum water addition of 10% for brushing application

Abstract

The main purpose of PPM activity is after  finishing the training students are expected to be able to practice the knowledge and their capabilities in using useless goods as economics learning media as strategy to build the spirit of businessman to teacher and students. There is a special purpose: (a) giving training to economics teacher concerning the use of useless  goods  as  economics  learning  media;  (b)  giving  supplies  and capability  in designing  the  use  of useless goods as  economics  learning media; and (c) giving supplies and capability in using useless goods as economics learning media which is a strategy to build the spirit of businessman in teacher and students. The method of PPM activity used to reach   the target is speech, simulation, and giving an assignment. The result which is reached through PPM activity is (a) Most of participants who have a positive attitude toward training  implementation. This case can be showed from the observation result that  most of serious teachers (95%) and enthusiastic; (b) It is looked from the understanding level toward learning material to show that 100 % participants understand in training material. This case is seemed at the time it  is given assignment to design useless goods from 7 groups, 100% is successful to develop useless goods. The understanding and mastering of teacher toward training material, although there are 2 media groups he or she develops but they are not appropriate to be sold; (c) It is looked from the capability of RPP development by using media of useless goods to show that from 7 groups, there are 6 groups collecting RPP, 1 group do not it; (d) It is looked from the capability to apply in the class showed by assignment the practice of using useless goods as learning media, there are 6 groups do it; and (e) It is looked from the spirit of businessman shows that all participants  are  seemed  to  be  enthusiastic trained  to  sell  product  result which is made of useless goods have been developed. The conclusion of this activity is the activity of dedication to people can  be  made  as  a  means  of  developing  teacher  capability  to  do  new innovations in the case of using and developing useless goods as economics learning media in the class, beside that teacher can do the refreshing and new ideas in learning. It is expected that in the next budget year LPM still facilitates same PPM activity with most of target which is wider so the increase of quality in learning can be felt by more schools and students.

Abstract

The purposes of this program are (1) to motivate student becoming entrepeneurs at the Javanesse wedding traditional ceremony package, (2) to increase the students' entrepeneurship knowledge at the Javanesse wedding traditional ceremony, (3) to create connection between higher education, especially Javanesse Study Program of the Yogyakarta State Universty, and business partners of the Javanesse wedding traditional ceremony package, and (4) to increase the students' and the lectures' capabilities, skills, and practical experiences at  conducting of the Javanesse wedding traditional ceremony package. This  program  has  carried  out  at  three  stages,  those  are  (1)  an upgrading of the development of Javanesse wedding tradisional ceremony package, including MC materials, Javanesse speakers, the Javanesse cultural knowlege, the experiences of conducting wedding package, discussion and practice  of  determining  of the  package  and  suplying  clothing,  and  the knowladge of the entrepreneurship and business operational, (2) conducting of the training at Griya Rias Wijayaningtyas, and (3) work shop of structuring the wedding business plan and simulation of wedding ceremony pakcage. The result of this program are (1) all of the participants have motivation  to  wrestle  with  the  entrepreneurs of the  Javanesse  wedding package ompletely or partial, and as an individually or agroup, (2) all of the participants have busness operational plans at the Javanesse wedding package, (3) there is a conection between higher education, especially Javanesse Study Program of Yogyakarta State  University,  and  business partners of the Javanesse wedding traditional ceremony package, and (4) the participants of the  students and  the  lectures have  improved their skills, especially in practical skill of the Javanesse wedding ceremony

Abstract

Decaying process of organic garbages causes  environment quality decreasing. The technology is needed for organic garbage management in order to avoid environment pollution.  The teachers have a strategic role in dissemination of knowledge and technology to the students and the society. The problems were how to increase knowledge of the teachers about organic garbage management, especially organic school garbage management, and how to develop the competency of the biology teachers in composing of biology lessoning media based on computer about natural method of organic school garbage treatment. Some activities held to solve the problems were:  interactive speech about garbage and environment problems caused by garbages, practice of organic  garbage  composting,  and  practice  of  composing  of  biology lessoning media based on computer about natural method of organic school garbage treatment. The activities were success to increase knowledge and skill of the biology teachers   in organic garbage management, which of the post-test scores were higher then the pre-test scores. According to the result of the evaluation, the CDs of lessoning media made by the teachers were suitable to the basic competency " making recycled products from garbages", but the CDs of lessoning media were not interactive yet

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the production efficiency of making bamboo handicraft product by using dryer. The dryer as a tool that can overcome this problems are discussed starting from assembly, specifications, operating guidelines, and test try. Planned dryer basically consists of the heating room and heating units. Heating room made of masonry walls plastered with cement on the outside and inside of the room walls. There are two door to enter the heat product. Two glass window, which serve as monitors heating conditions. Two thermometers was placed on glass window. Result dryer manufacture process has been tested with results as follows: has created a dryer the size of the heating room 3 m x 6 m x 2.25 m, a wall of brick covered with cement, and the ceiling is made of asbestos. Heating unit has dimensions of 40 cm x 40 cm x 60 cm. Heating unit is heated by LPG gas stoves. The results show that a heating unit capable of heating the room temperature from 30oC to 40oC in 10 minutes. The water content of dried products decreased from 17.1% to about 2.5%. The capacity of the dryer is 300 products. The cost for drying the product is Rp47.33, - per product

Abstract

The training was started from the problems of the weaknesses of teachers'  competence  in  developing craft  design and  skills on  teaching strategy aimed for the students. Based on that problem, the teachers asked for an instructional skill training to develop the design insight, the teaching strategy, and the work of arts as a scientific work. This training was aimed to develop the knowledge and the skill of craft design by utilizing various materials, forming techniques and its instruction method for the students, to know the craft product produced by the craft teachers in Junior High School, to give knowledge for the craft teachers of junior high school in describing the work of arts as scientific work. The  training  method  used  was  a  presentation  to  deliver  the knowledge  of  the  development  of  craft  design,  craft  instruction,  and description  of    the  work  of arts  as  scientific  work.  The  demonstration method was used to explain the production process of craft made from the gypsum by molding technique. The presentation method by the participants of the training was to be able to take the responsibility of the result of the craft, the craft instructional strategy applied in schools, and the presentation of arts description as scientific work. The teachers who participated could join the training well and they could understand the material given by the trainer team. The teachers could make some work of craft and they could apply it in the instruction by using the method they choose in the school well. Most of them are weak in developing craft design which is covered for the need of student instructions based on the development of the students. The work of craft made by the teachers can be used as the instructional media to work on arts as well as scientific work. The teachers apply the instructional method by observing, imitating, and modificating to make work of arts. The example given by model as the instructional media is not merely to be imitated but it is also to motivate the students in doing the work of arts. The teachers make the description of work of arts as the scientific work gave quite a good result. The description of the work of craft is used to develop the competence and the improvement of the teacher's career in the future
