Abstract

Streptomyces sp was conducted from December 2010 - June 2011 at the Laboratoryof Microbiology, Biology Department, Math and Science Faculty, UdayanaUniversity Bukit Jimbaran-Bali. Implementation stages of the research consisted ofisolation and testing of the antibiotic activity Streptomyces sp to inhibit growthbacterial pathogens Erwinia sp as a cause of disease in plants fallen foul (Soft rot) ofAloe barbadensis Mill.The results of this study have eight isolates of Streptomyces spwith macroscopic and microscopic characters are varied. Furthermore, all isolateswere obtained and then tested against antibiotic activity to inhibit growth the bacteriaErwinia sp. Test results obtained by Streptomyces sp that has the most effective ininhibiting the ability of the bacteria Erwinia sp isolates are Streptomyces sp2for (45%).

Abstract

Sperm is a biological material that is often used as evidence in rape cases. The research of DNA extraction from sperm was conducted in order to determine DNA whether it could be extracted from sperm in the condom and fabrics that were stored for 3, 6, 9, and 12 days and to know the success of its amplification. The sample is dripped into a condom and fabrics each 150 ?L, then stored for 3, 6, 9, and 12 days. DNA extraction was performed using phenol-chloroform method that had been modified and DNA amplification using PCR Mastermix. The results showed that DNA could be extracted and the extraction could be amplified from sperm in the condom and fabrics that were stored for 3, 6, 9 and 12 days.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the sperm quality of mice (Mus musculus L.) which aregiven monosodium glutamate (MSG), it was carried out from Oktober to November 2011 atAnimal Structure Laboratory of Biology FMIPA Udayana University.This study uses a designwith the subject of mice aged 3 months, 25-35 gram, total 32 mice consisting of 4 treatment, iscontrol, 1,5 mg/g bb, 3mg/g bb and 4 mg/g bb. Each treatment consisting of 4 replications, eachconsisting of 2 mice. Data were analyzed with defferent real 5% and if followed by a LSD test.This results showed the given MSG causes decreased sperm viability degrade the quality of motilsperm and increased abnormalities in sperm morphology were significantly difference (p < 0,05).This is because the MSG excess natrium leads to increased formation of ROS and the resultingstress oxidative and cause cell damage tissues and organs, especially to the reproductive system.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the weed species that exist on Zea mays L. plant in paddyfields Padang Galak village, East Denpasar, Bali Province. This study is useful to provideinformation about the species of weeds found in maize (Zea mays L.) in the fields of biology andagriculture, so weed control on Zea mays L. Plant can be implemented.Research was conducted from January 7 until March 11, 2011. In this study used themethod of cruising (exsploration sampling). To be more efficient and systematic results, alsoused a systematic method of lines.The results found 36 weed species belonging to 20 families. The distribution of theweed species, was found in Zea mays L. plant age of 4 weeks, which composed of 8 families 16Species. Weeds found in Zea mays L. plants aged of 6 weeks (the formation of fruit) consistedof 10 familes and 23 species. While weeds found in Zea mays L. plants 8 weeks of age(ripening fruit) were 14 families and 28 species. Weeds found in Zea mays L. plants aged 10weeks (before harvest) comprised of 20 families and 36 species.

Abstract

Has been doing a research about the content of heavy metals (Pb and Cd)in green mustard (Brassica rapa L. subsp. Perviridis Bailey) and carrot (DaucusCarrota L. Var. Sativa Hoffm) that exist in the market of Denpasar city. Purposeof this research was to know the content of Pb and Cd in green mustard andcarrots that exist in traditional markets (Badung and Kreneng market) Denpasarcity that treated by washing and without washing. Content of Pb and Cd in greenmustard and carrots that analyzed by AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometer).The results of research shows that contents of Pb in green mustard andcarrots that washed and without washed in Kreneng and Badung Market equal to64.71 ± 6.66 ug / g, 69.58 ± 4.61 ug / g, 62.56 ± 6.99 ug / g, 64.96 ± 7:20 ug / g,62.56 ± 6:56 ug / g, 73, 91 ± 2:51 ug / g, 57.17 ± 8:59 ug / g, 59.71 ± 8.93 ug / gdry weight. Content of Cd that washed and without washed equal to SCK 8.81 ±1.68?g / g, 10, 55 ± 1.78 ug / g, 8.09 ± 1.71 ug / g, 9.30 ± 2:01 ug / g, 8.96 ± 1.72ug / g, 10.09 ± 1:09 ug / g, 7.39 ± 1.6 ug / g 5, 8.14 ± 1.71 ug / g dry weight
