Abstract

This research was conducted in Serangan island in August, 2004. Ten plots assampling units were taken using Systematic Plot Design. Two parameters : ImportanceValue and Diversity Indices were determined on vegetation analyses. Samples were takenfrom three different locations. Soil analysis was conducted for determining macro elementscontent, such as: N, P, K and others organic maters. The result shows that there are 13 species of mangrove found. Five species areclassified into ‘pure’ mangrove and others are associate. Rhizophora apiculata (withImportant Value, IV, of 103.252 %) and Sonneratia alba (IV 99.663 %) are two species thathave high importance value (IV). In addition, the diversity of mangrove in Serangan islandis found to be low (diversity indices 0.791).Results of this study indicate that after reclamation, the mangrove ecosystem inSerangan is in unstable conditions.

Abstract

Existing beaches in Badung (Kuta, Legian, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Tanjung Benoa and Canggu) is a beach full of tourism activities (hotel, restaurant and nautical sports facilities) and other activities. The presence of waste that is not managed well will greatly contribute to the decline in the quality of waters. Results of analysis by in-situ and laboratory in the wet season and dry in 2008 and 2009 ie from 19 parameters analyzed physic, chemical and microbiological, there is 8 parameters has exceeded the maximum threshold for designation as a marine tourism in accordance with Governor’s Rule of Bali No. 7 in 2007. Seawater quality parameters that exceed the Environmental Quality Standards is DO, BOD5, NO3, NH3, phenol, phosphate, cadmium (Cd) and Plumbum (Pb). The results on the quality of coastal waters are four beaches (Kuta, Legian, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran) are classified as low polluted, and two beaches (Tanjung Benoa and Canggu) is classified as middle polluted. The research concluded that in general the water quality at six beaches in Badung in 2008 and 2009 is still worth utilized for the purposes of maritime tourism.

Abstract

Indonesia Power Generating Business Unit Bali is a state-owned enterprises (SOE.5) engaged in the electrification of Java and Bali. This company manages 15 units of power plants, 11 diesel and 4 PLTG which total 201.29 MW of power generated. The amount of power it will produce a greater flow of waste so that waste processing technology needed a good and effective. This study aims to determine the quality of waste water pollutant levels and the effectiveness of waste processing, that data analysis and processing using Microsoft Visual FoxPro programming language. Sampling was conducted in February and March of 2011 with the parameters of temperature, pH, dissolved solids (TDS), oil and grease, BODs, COD, sulfide (H2S), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and dissolved iron (Fe). This study is descriptive with a primary method of data collection with laboratory tests. The study was conducted by comparing the quality of waste water in TS I, which on the inlet separator I, TS II; namely the outlet separator II and TS III, namely the outlet waste treatment process as a whole with the specified quality standards. The results are less optimal effectiveness of wastewater treatment poses on cadmium (Cd) by the average value of 61.32% because it is below the prevailing standards of effectiveness by the average value of 97.17% so that its effluent quality with average of 0.14 ppm exceeds the standard set that is equal to 0.01 ppm. This is due to the absence of alternative waste treatment processes to reduce the content of heavy metals, especially cadmium (Cd) and to improve the effectiveness of the previous

Abstract

Bali Strait represent the strait dissociating Bali Island with Java Island. As an area of fishing zone, Bali Straitowns a significant fishery potency, especially lemuru fish (Sardenella lemuru). For the facility of fisherman haul, governmental developed the Center of Fish Landing which is located at Pengambengan village of Negara Subdistrict.Within the area also exists the fishery industries which is operated for fish canning and fish meal. The aim of this research was to determine the properties of pollutant from waste water that was produced byfishery industry, as well as to know the quality of coastal waters destined for the aquatic life that produced by industrialactivity. The sample of sea waters was taken from 11 locations and one sample was taken from waste water effluent one ofone factory at Pengambengan village. The result of analysis was used to calculate the pollution index and comparationwas made to the Governor Regulation Number 8 year 2007.The finding of the study shows that the pollutant properties of the waste water produced by fishery industry haveexceeded the maximum level of quality standar covering parameters of TSS, TDS, BOD5, COD, sulfide hydrogen (H2S),degree of acidity (pH), and ammonia (NH3). Calculation result of respective sampling location, shows that the value ofthe pollution index varied from slight, medium, and heavy pollution levels.

Abstract

Ayung river is one of the longest rivers in Bali. The upstream of the river is in regency of Bangli, Badung, Buleleng, Tabananand downstream is located in Padang Galak beach, East Denpasar Sub-regency. As the sample of the study, the water of the river wastaken from the stream entering the city of Denpasar. The sample was taken in five different points and for each point was taken twice. Thefirst was taken at 5 p.m, and the second was at 6 a.m. This study aims at finding out the rate of radioactive content of Ayung river water inthe city of Denpasar. The water sample was analyzed in Radiometry Analysis Group of Radiation Physics and environmental research centre andNuclear Technique Development, Jalan Taman Sari 71 Bandung – 40132. The process of counting was conducted in this place in order toknow the rate of the element activities and then identification of elements contens in the sample. The result of the counting and identifyingwas compered with standard grade of radioactivity in the area. The element of identification result and the amount of activity rate found showed that the element were natural radioactiveelements, the content: 40K (Kalium-40), 234Th (Thorium-234), 233Th (Thorium-233), 228Ac (Actinium-288), 114mIn (Indium-114m). Thehighest activity of radioactive elements in each sample point: in E2 point content element 40K with the activity 2.08 Bq/lt, in point A1 234Thwith the activity 16.34 Bq/lt, in point E1 containts 233Th with activity 598.29 Bq/lt, in point E1 and E2 contain 228Ac with the activity939.63 Bq/lt. The height of activity value of the counting and identifying elements was still under the rate of the highest level. The result of the study showed that radioactive elements 40K had the tendency of increasing radioactivity. The same thinghappened to 233Th at the peak of energi 185.00 keV. The content of its radioactive tends to exist in each point of sample point and theactivity tends to increase. Though the rate of radioactivity content was still under the highest permitted level (1x104 Bq/lt for 40K and7x102 for 233Th) bu the case needs to be watched out that the dangerus grade pollution would take place.

Abstract

water quality reduction potentially happen. Anxiously wells water quality reduction will happen in consequences frombad sanitation, like household waste water seepage, chemistries cesspool, laundry, etc. This research applied comparatively descriptive characteristic approach quantitative method. Well water wassample taken from 9 units on February and 9 units on April 2008. Sample unit was taken by purposive sampling methodfor excavated wells and random sampling method for water sample. Analysis result for well water was compared withquality standard of Bali Governor regulation No.8 ‘2007 and with quality standard of Health Minister RepublicIndonesian Rule No.907 ‘2002 and also pollution index according to Minister of Alive Environment Decision No.115‘2003. Water quality was calculated based on pollution index correlated with physical environment condition withSpearmen test (Rho) and measuring society behaviour by Sturges.Research result shows that in February for parameter BOD, Fe and total coliform slightly exceeded water qualitystandard and in April 2008 for parameter DO, BOD, Fe and total coliform slightly exceeded water quality standard class Iand drinking water quality standard. Pollution Index (IP) with result for all well water researched is under 5 (five) that is(1 < IP ? 5) including low pollution. By using Spearmen analysis, so that alternative hypothesis unaccepted, well physicalenvironment condition (IS) not in correlated to excavated wells water standard quality with Rho ( ? ) 0,147 andsignificance 0,705 more than ? 5 %. Interview result shows that 9, 10 % respondents have good behaviour and 90, 9 %respondents have understanding behaviour in maintaining clean water resource managed.Suggested to local government of Denpasar city this related to clean water (PDAM) to improve distribution ofclean water so that can fulfil 100% clean water necessity of the city. Particularly to Public Health Centre I SouthDenpasar is expected to conducting chlorinization regularly to public. Society is expected to improve well physicalenvironment condition and increases healthy life behaviour.
