Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the correlation between Self-Efficacy (SE), Health Awareness (KHS) and Science Learning Outcomes (HB) on environmental pollution subject in Junior High School. Subjects in this study were 7th grade junior high school students in Bandung Regency which is located near to the market and the railway stationenvironment. The research method has been used was quasi-experimental. The research design has been used was The Matching -Posttest Only - Control Group Design. Experimental class received the treatment, it was motivation and knowledge of healthy living, while the control group was not given. The data collection instruments has been used was three instruments, it was; 1) Self-Efficacy (SE) Instrument, 2) Health Awareness (KHS) Instrument, 3) Learning Outcomes (HB) Instrument. Results showed that the experimental class gain a higher value of self-efficacy, health awareness and learning outcomes better than the control class. Results of correlation test showed that there is a positive correlation between self-efficacy (SE) with health awareness (KHS), self-efficacy (SE) with learning outcomes (HB), and health awareness (KHS) with learning outcomes (HB). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of application of POGIL model in improving student` understanding of the material on reaction rate. The method used in this research is Quasi Experiment with Non Equivalent Control Design research descriptions and sampling with purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this research are 12 essay test instrument with conceptual understanding indicator covering ability to comprehend, apply, and analyze. In this reseacrh, obtained pretest score of control class as much as 26,10 and experiment class 24,86. Next, the score of posttest of concrol class is 62,48 and experiment class is 76,48. Based on the hypothesis test with the level of trust α (0,05) obtained by t-test of posttest data obtained that the value of sig (2-tailed) 0,00 < 0,005 and tcount< ttabel (6,521<2,045) which mean H0 rejected and H1 accepted so that it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of POGIL model to student understanding of the material on the rate of reaction. Abstract

Abstract This research aims to understand the increase in skill the process of science students with a guided inquiry model and performance assessment and the implementation of guided inquiry model and performance assessment to students of class XI IPA  Christian High School 1 Salatiga . Skills of the research process are studied consisting of observing, hypothesizing, questioning, applying concepts, communicating, and practicing with minimum criteria for psychomotor criteria for 73. The type of research used is classroom action research with data triangulation research technique, in the form of questionnaire instrument, interview sheet, observation sheet, student performance assessment result, and supporting data in the form of documentation. The results showed that the results of the students' science process skills experienced an increase in each cycle. Guided inquiry models also familiarize students to play an active role in all learning activities and practicum conducted by students, so that students not only understand the material but also skillfully using laboratory tools. Keywords: guided inquiry; KPS; performance assessment; student. Permalink/DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.15408/es.v9i2.7209

Abstract

This study was conducted to reconstruct teaching material of particles of matter using context of characteristics of material. It refers to the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER). The purpose of this study was to obtain a pre-conception of learners and scientist’s perspective to the concept of particles of matter, material characteristics, and relations between them; determine the design of teaching materials based onviews of nature of science; and find out an expert assessment of the design of teaching materials. The research data obtained in the form of the transcript of an interview 10 students of class VIII, text analysis results, the results of the validation indicators and the learning objectives of cognitive and affective aspects, validation results of the analysis of the concept, validation results of teaching materialsdesign and test results readability. Design of teaching material produced is (a) developed based on reflection from pre-conception of learners and the perspective of scientists; (b) adjusted to the cognitive level of learners (accessible); (3) developed by inserting aspects of nature of science (NOS); (4) using a sequence of teaching and learning of Science and Technology Literacy (STL) by adopting a learning phase ChemieimKontext (ChiK). The results of the validation of teaching materials to obtain an average value of CVI 0,9935. This suggests teaching materials produced it feasible used for junior high students. Keywords:characteristic of matter; Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER); the nature of science;the  particles of matter; and teaching materialThis study was conducted to reconstruct teaching material of particles of matter using context of characteristics of material.
