Abstract

Penelitian ini mendiskusikan tentang Sistem fonologis Bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora Bali di Mataram. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk menemukan jumlah fonem, termasuk vokal, diftong, geminal, konsonan, dan gugus konsonan, 2) untuk menyelidiki proses fonologi dalam bahasa tersebut. Desain dari penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dimana penelitian ini menjabarkan tentang jumlah fonem dan proses fonologis yang ada di bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora Bali di Mataram dalam situasi tertentu. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti, dan instrumen lain yang digunakan adalah alat rekam, daftar kata, dan daftar kalimat. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan bahwaterdapat 30 fonem yang terdiri atas 6 vokal, 2 diftong, 3 geminal, dan 19 konsonan. Sedangkan dari empat proses fonologis menurut teori Schane (1973), hanya ada satu proses fonologis yang di temukan dalam bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora di Mataram, yakni proses struktur suku kata; penghilangan konsonan. Kata Kunci : Sistem fonologis, Bahasa Bali, Diaspora, Mataram This study mainly discusses about The Phonological System of Balinese Diaspora language in Mataram. The aims of this study were: 1) To find out the number of phonemes, including the vowels, diphthong, geminate, consonant and consonant cluster, 2) to explore the phonological process within the language itself. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative, in which this study describes the number of phonemes and the phonological process which exist in Balinese Diaspora language in certain situation. The main instrument was the researcher, and the other instruments that are used in this study are recorder and word list. The researcher found that there are 30 phonemes which include 6 vowels, 2 diphthongs, 3 geminates, and 19 consonants. Meanwhile, among the four types of phonological process according to Schane’s theory (1973) there are only one type of phonological process found by the researcher in BDL, that is syllable structure processes; consonant deletion.keyword : Phonological system, Balinese language, Diaspora, Mataram

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang berhubungan dengan pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang berlandaskan karakter kepada siswa-siswi kelas VII (tujuh) SMP (sekolah menengah pertama) yang berdasar pada Kurikulum 2013 (implementasi Kurikulum 2013). Adapun langkah-langkah penelitian yang digunakan agar dapat mencapai tujuan dari penelitian ini, langkah 1 (penentuan masalah), langkah 2 (membuat desain), langkah 3 (pengembangan). Selain itu, terdapat pula 5 instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yakni rubrik penilaian, lembar ahli, kuisioner, pedoman wawancara, dan daftar pengawasan. Dalam penelitian ini, data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara descriptive kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran berlandaskan karakter ini dibagi menjadi dua bagian, yakni semester 1 dan semester 2. Pada bagian semester 1, terdapat 4 buah unit dengan 12 rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, sedangkan semester 2 terdiri dari 14 rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang dirangkum dalam 3 unit. Temuan lainnya dari penelitian ini yaitu rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dikategorikan sebagai “excellent” oleh para ahli. Terdapat pula terdapat tujuh fitur yang ditemukan sebagai rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran inovatif yang baik dan dapat diaplikasikan sebagai implementasi Kurikulum 2013. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat memenuhi kriteria sukses penelitian sebagai rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang baik, mudah digunakan, dan inovatif yang berlandaskan karakter kepada siswa-siswi kelas VII (tujuh) SMP (sekolah menengah pertama) yang berdasar pada Kurikulum 2013 (implementasi Kurikulum 2013) sehingga dapat digunakan oleh guru. Kata Kunci : rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, berbasis karakter, Kurikulum 2013 This research was an educational research and development that aimed at developing character-based instructional devices used for teaching English for seventh grader at junior high school based on Curriculum 2013 (the implementation of Curriculum 2013). In order to attain the purpose of this study, there were three main stages, namely, stage 1 (problem determination), stage 2 (design), and stage 3 (development) that were used in this study. In addition, the data collection procedure of this research was assisted by five instruments, namely, scoring rubric, experts’ sheet, questionnaire, interview guidance, and observation checklist. Furthermore, the data obtained were analysed descriptive qualitatively. In accordance with the results of this research, it was found that these character-based instructional devices were divided generally into two semesters, which were semester 1 and semester 2. Semester 1 part was consisted with 4 units with 12 instructional devices, while the semester 2 part involved 14 instructional devices that were covered in 3 units. Another finding showed that the instructional devices were classified as “excellent” by the experts. And the last finding, there were seven features found of good and applicable innovative instructional devices as the implementation of Curriculum 2013. In conclusion, this developed instructional devices has answered the criteria of success of good and applicable innovative character-based instructional devices used for teaching English for seventh grader at junior high school based on Curriculum 2013 (the implementation of Curriculum 2013), thus this product can be used by the teacher.keyword : instructional devices, character-based, Curriculum 2013

Abstract

The aim of this study were to find out (a) significant difference of English language competency of between the students who learnwith picture mediain a scientific approach and those who learn without picture media; (b) to find out the students’ responses towards the use of picture media in learning English based on the scientific approach. The resultwas an experimental with a post-test control group design. The population of this study consisted of 236 students eight different classes. There were 60 students selected as the sample using cluster random sampling divided into a control group and an experimental group. The data of the study were collected by using test, questionnaires, and observation check list. The analysis of the quantitative data was carried out by using descriptive and inferential statistics, while the analysis of the qualitative data were made descriptively. The results indicated that: (a) there was a significant different of English language competency between the students who were taught with picture media. This meant that picture media used based on the scientific approach contributed significantly the English language competency of the students at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. (b) The students’ development of scientific attitude based on the results it was recommended for the teacher to implement the scientific approach supported by picture media,. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa penggunaan dari kata kasar sekitaran masyarakat yang bekerja di pasar tradisional Kebon Roek di Mataram. Kata-kata kasar adalah bahasa yang biasa di Mataram dan selalu digunakan setiap hari oleh warga Lombok yang kelas rendah dalam percakapan mereka. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif qualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan merekam, observasi dan wawancara beberapa orang yang bekerja di pasar tradisional di Kebon Roek Ampenan di Mataram. Temuan ditunjukan bahwa penggunaan kata-kata kasar dari warga ini memiliki beberapa tipe dalam pembicaraan mereka. Tipe dari kata-kata kasar yang digunakan berhubungan terhadap beberapa latar belakang, yaitu: kata yang berhubungan dengan religi (setan, selaq, iblis), kata yang berhubungan dengan kelamin (tain tele, pepek, ancot), kata yang berhubungan dengan kotoran (tai, busuk, bais), kata yang berhubungan dengan nama spesies binatang (acong, bawi, ulah, godeg, kaok, brong, berelong, boteq), kata yang berhubungan dengan latar belakang pribadi(sundal, banci, kancut, anak selaq medol, anak kone, ubeq), kata yang berhubungan dengan penyakit mental (cine bute, binjat, lejah bikas, isin gawah), dan kata yang berhubungan dengan hubungan sex (betian, btelen, bekarong). Mereka mengguankan kata-kata kasar tersebut dalam percakapan merekea ketika mereka merasa buruk. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: Sosiolinguisrik, kata-kata kasar, bahasa sasak, pasar tradisional This study aimed at analyze swearwords used in the speesch of the people who work in Traditional Market at Kebon Roek Ampenan Mataram. The swearwords are always used by people of the lower class in everyday conversation. This study was qualitative descriptive research. This study was conducted by observing and interviewing a number of people who works in Traditional Market at Kebon Roek Ampenan Mataram. The findings showed that those people used swearwords of various types in their speech. The types of swearwords used are related to certain background namely; word related to religion (setan, selaq, iblis), word related to sex (tain tele, pepek, ancot), word related to excrement (tai, busuk, bais), word from name of animal (acong, bawi, ulah, godeg, kaok, brong, berelong, boteq), word related to personal background (sundal, banci, kancut, anak selaq medol, anak kone, ubeq), word from mental illness (cine bute, binjat, lejah bikas, isin gawah), and word related to sex activities (betian, btelen, bekarong). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi menulis recount siswa di SMP Negeri 1 Banjar melalui kombinasi TAD dan HARAP Strategi. Subyek penelitian adalah kelas 8F siswa SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, yang terdiri dari 14 laki-laki dan 18 perempuan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan berbasis kelas yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus melibatkan empat langkah, seperti: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Data diperoleh melalui empat jenis instrumen, yaitu: wawancara, peneliti buku harian, angket dan tes. Sebuah pre-test diberikan sebelum melakukan tindakan untuk mendapatkan data awal dari para siswa. Post-tes diberikan setelah melakukan tindakan. Kemudian, data yang diperoleh secara deskriptif dianalisis. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi menulis siswa meningkat. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa. Rata-rata siswa adalah 42,53 di pre-test. Setelah pengobatan dilakukan, meningkat menjadi 70,06. Akhirnya, skor rata-rata siswa bisa mencapai 76,28 setelah melakukan siklus 2 Selain itu, lebih dari 90,63% dari semua siswa bisa lulus tingkat yang baik dari penguasaan belajar. Selain itu, kombinasi ini juga membawa efek positif dalam mendorong motivasi dan minat belajar bahasa Inggris siswa. Kata Kunci : Key Terms: kompetensi menulis, TAD strategy, Please strategi, teks recount The study was aimed to improve the students’ recount writing competency at SMP Negeri 1 Banjar through the combination of T.A.D and P.L.E.A.S.E. Strategy. The subjects of the study were class 8F students of SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, which consisted of 14 males and 18 females. This study was classroom based action research that was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle involved four steps, such as: planning, action, observation and reflection. The data were obtained through four kinds of instruments, namely: interview, researcher’s diary, questionnaire and test. A pre-test was given before conducting the action to obtain preliminary data of the students. Post-tests were given after doing action. Then, the data obtained was descriptively analyzed. The findings of the study showed that the students’ writing competency improved. It was shown by the improvement of students’ mean score. Students’ mean score was 42.53 in pre-test. After the treatment was conducted, it increased into 70.06. Finally, the students’ mean score could reach 76.28 after conducting cycle 2. Besides, more than 90.63% from all of the students could pass the good level of learning mastery. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan (1) tehnik, media dan materi guru dalam mengajarkan kosa kata bahasa Inggris pada siswa taman kanak-kanak di TK Aura Sukma Insani dan (2) masalah-masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam mengaplikasikan tehnik, media dan materi untuk mengajar kosa kata. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus yang dipaparkan melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru-guru bahasa Inggris di TK Aura Sukma Insani. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi peneliti, teks wawancara, alat perekam video, lembar observasi dan buku catatan. Analisis data dilakukan melalui empat tahap yaitu pengumpulan data (data collection), pemilahan data (data reduction), pemaparan data (data display) dan penyimpulan data (conclusion drawing). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru mengaplikasikan beragam tehnik dan media untuk mengajar kosa kata. Berbagai tehnik dan dan media yang digunakan memungkinkan siswa untuk belajar kosa kata secara maksimal. Selain itu, masalah yang sering dihadapi para guru dalam mengajarkan kosa kata meliputi manajemen sikap siswa, perhatian siswa dan ketergantungan siswa terhadap guru.Kata Kunci : tehnik, media, materi, kosa kata, taman kanak-kanak This research aimed to describe (1) the teachers’ techniques, media and material in teaching English vocabulary to young learners at Aura Sukma Insani Kindergarten and (2) the problems faced by the teachers in applying the techniques, media and material in teaching vocabulary. This research was a case study under the form of qualitative design. The subjects of the study were the English teachers in Aura Sukma Insani Kindergarten. The instruments used in collecting the data were the researcher herself, interview guide, video recorder, observation checklist and field note. The data analysis was conducted through four stages namely data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of analysis showed that the teachers applied various teaching strategies with the support of various teaching media to teach vocabulary. The variation enabled the students to have much exposure to the vocabularies. Moreover, the problems faced by the teachers in teaching vocabulary were about the students’ behavioral management, attention management and dependence toward their teachers.keyword : technique, media, material, vocabulary, young learners

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Teknik Gambar Seri dalam kompetensi menulis siswa. Untuk melakukan penelitian ini, 78 siswa kelas X SMK N 1 Singaraja dipilih adalah sampel melalui cluster random. Penelitian terapan ini post test saja. Perlakuan diberikan selama 8 kali pertemuan. Kemudian, postes yang berupa tes esai diberikan kepada siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan t-test.This penelitian menemukan t-obs yang lebih tinggi dari t-cv pada tingkat signifikansi 0.00. Rata-rata dari siswa narasi menulis kompetensi yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan gambar seri (76,8333) lebih tinggi dari nilai rata-rata dari siswa narasi menulis kompetensi yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional (67,3333). Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa gambar seri memiliki efek yang lebih baik pada penulisan narasi siswa dari strategi konvensional.Kata Kunci : Kompetensi Menulis dan Gambar Seri This study aimed at investigating the effect of the Picture Series Technique on students’ writing competency. To do this research, 78 students of tenth grade of SMK N 1 Singaraja were selected as the samples through cluster random sampling technique. This research applied post test only control group design. Treatment was given for 8 times of meetings. Then, postest which was in the form of essay test was given to the students. The obtained data were analyzed using t-test. This research discovered t-obs higher than t-cv at level of significance 0.00. The mean score of students’ narrative writing competency taught by using picture series (76.8333) was higher than the mean score of the students’ narrative writing competency taught using conventional technique (67.3333). So, it can be concluded that picture series has better effect on students’ narrative writing than conventional strategy. keyword : Writing Competency and Picture Series

Abstract

Penelitian ini dibatasi untuk menyelidiki efek penggunaan boneka (Puppet) sebagai media pembelajaran untuk kompetensi berbicara dari siswa kelas tujuh di SMP N 2 Singaraja pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Dalam penelitian eksperimen ini ada dua kelompok yang dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian dengan menggunakan Cluster Random Sampling. Satu kelompok menjadi kelompok eksperimen yang akan diajarkan dengan menggunakan media boneka (Puppet), sementara itu yang satunya lagi sebagai kelompok kontrol yang akan diajarkan dengan menggunakan media konvensional. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode posttest only control group. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil yang didapatkan signifikan,ini dapat dilihat pada nilai rata-rata kedua grup dimana nilai rata-rata grup experimental adalah 80.83 dan nilai rata-rata grup control adalah 71.50;hasil dari to (t observed) adalah 4.193 dan ini lebih tinggi dari tcv (t critical value) yang nilainya 1.96 (a=0.5). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa media boneka (Puppet) memberikan efek yang lebih baik dalam berbicara daripada media konvensional. Kata Kunci : Puppet, Instructional Media, Speaking Competency This research was restricted to investigate the effect of puppet use as teaching media for speaking competency of the seventh grade students at SMP N 2 Singaraja in the academic year 2014/2015. In this experimental research there were two groups selected as sample of research by using cluster random sampling. One group becomes experimental group which will be taught by using puppet media meanwhile another one as control group which will be taught by using conventional media. This research was carried out by using posttest only control group. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The result were significant, it can be seen from both group’s mean score where experimental group score was 80.83 while control group score was 71.50; the value of to (t observed) was 4.193 and it was higher than tcv (t critical value) that was 1.96 (a=0.5). Abstract

Character education has become a great issue which is debated by many people. So far, character education can be implemented of behavior so that the learning process requires seriousness and consistency. This is because implementation is not enough in theory but needs to be implemented in practice. Therefore, education plays a very important role as an agent and forming the character of the nation that education is required to form the nation. Indonesia as one nation in the world has a dream to form citizens who have noble values, prosperous and able to compete in the international world. But in recent years, Indonesia burdened by problems that are not solved wisely can lead to disintegration and destruction. North Bali Bilingual School is one of school in Bali that implemented some innovative character based English teaching strategies. In this study was conducted using qualitative design where the researcher acted as the main instrument of the research. The study was conducted in NBBS since December 2014. The subject of this study was the 2nd grade students in NBBS. The result of this analysis has showed a significant improvement when they are using innovative character based English teaching strategies for second grade students. Therefore, this study is conducted to describe how innovative character based English teaching strategies is implemented for second grade students in NBBS.Kata Kunci : Character Education, English Teaching Strategies, Second Grade Students, NBBS. Pendidikan karakter telah menjadi isu besar yang diperdebatkan oleh banyak orang . Sejauh ini , pendidikan karakter dapat diimplementasikan perilaku sehingga proses belajar memerlukan keseriusan dan konsistensi . Hal ini karena pelaksanaannya tidak cukup dalam teori tetapi perlu diterapkan dalam praktek . Oleh karena itu , pendidikan memainkan peran yang sangat penting sebagai agen dan membentuk karakter bangsa bahwa pendidikan diperlukan untuk membentuk bangsa . Indonesia sebagai salah satu negara di dunia memiliki mimpi untuk membentuk warga negara yang memiliki nilai-nilai luhur , makmur dan mampu bersaing di dunia internasional . Tapi dalam beberapa tahun terakhir , Indonesia terbebani oleh masalah yang tidak diselesaikan dengan bijaksana dapat menyebabkan disintegrasi dan kehancuran . North Bali Bilingual School adalah salah satu sekolah di Bali yang menerapkan beberapa strategi pengajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis karakter yang inovatif . Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dimana peneliti bertindak sebagai instrumen utama penelitian . Penelitian ini dilakukan di NBBS sejak Desember 2014. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 2 di NBBS . Hasil analisis ini telah menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan ketika mereka menggunakan strategi pengajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis inovatif karakter untuk siswa kelas dua . Abstract

Tantangan yang dihadapi oleh para guru di Indonesia saat ini adalah prestasi siswa yang rendah dalam bahasa Inggris. Banyak guru sering mengeluh tentang bagaimana cara terbaik untuk mengajar siswa agar mereka mampu meningkatkan prestasi siswa serta motivasi mereka untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan di sekolah-sekolah di Singaraja, guru-guru masih mengajar dengan menggunakan metode tradisional di mana semua siswa di kelas diajarkan menggunakan teknik yang sama meskipun mereka mengajar dalam kondisi kelas yang heterogen, dimana siswa di dalam kelas memiliki kemampuan dan latar belakang yang berbeda. Akibatnya, siswa yang memiliki kemampuan yang baik dipaksa untuk mengikuti siswa yang memiliki kemampuan yang kurang, begitu pula sebaliknya untuk mengikuti materi yang sama yang diberikan oleh guru. Sebagai hasil, para siswa cenderung bosan dalam mengikuti pelajaran. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan bagaimana Differentiated Instruction dilaksanakan di dalam kelas untuk membantu setiap siswa di kelas untuk mengembangkan diri dalam potensi penuh mereka. Penelitian ini dilakukan di North Bali Bilingual School untuk kelas gabungan di kelas 3 dan kelas 4 sejak Desember 2014. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif melalui analisis data triangulasi dimana peneliti bertindak sebagai instrumen utama penelitian. Penelitian ini dilakukan di North Bali Bilingual School yang terletak di Panji, Singaraja. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas gabungan di kelas 3 dan 4. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa Differentiated Instruction mampu meningkatkan literasi Bahasa Inggris siswa dan setiap siswa di kelas sangat menikmati waktu mereka di kelas.Kata Kunci : differentiated instruction, kelas gabungan, literasi The challenge faced by teachers in Indonesia nowadays is low achievement in English. Many teachers are frequently complaint on how to best teach students in order they are able to improve students’ achievement as well as their motivation to learn English. Based on observations conducted in schools in Singaraja, teachers still teach their students using traditional method where all students in the classroom are taught using the same techniques despite the heterogeneous condition of the students in the classroom. As the result, students who are better are dragged down and those who are down are dragged up in order to follow the same material given by the teacher. As the results, the students are mostly bored or struggling to follow the lesson. This paper is intended to describe how differentiated instruction implemented in the classroom in order to help every student in the classroom develop themselves in their full potentials. The study was conducted in NBBS School for grade 3 and 4 split class since December 2014. This study was a descriptive qualitative study through a triangulation data analysis where the researcher acted as the main instrument of the study. The setting of this study in North Bali Bilingual School which is located in Panji, Singaraja. The subject of this study was the students of split class in grade 3 and 4. The result of the study stated that the differentiated instruction is very powerful to increase students’ English literacy and every student enjoys his/her time in the classroom.keyword : differentiated instruction, split class, literacy
