Abstract

Mengingat permintaan dari kurikulum 2013 untuk mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, masalah yang dihadapi oleh SMP N 2 Singaraja dalam mengintegrasikan ICT, pentingnya keterampilan membaca dan masalah peserta didik yang berkemampuan diatas rata-rata, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) jenis latihan bacaan tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas 7 di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik diatas rata-rata; dan (3) kualitas latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik diatas rata-rata. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada penelitian dan pengembangan desain dari Sugiyono (2011). Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP N 2 Singaraja. Data untuk penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui analisis dokumen, kuesioner, wawancara, observasi, uji ahli, dan studi lapangan. Data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan Itterater Agreement Model oleh Gregory (2000). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) latihan membaca tambahan yang dibutuhkan adalah dalam bentuk latihan tambahan elektronik yang dapat digunakan sebagai media untuk mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Mereka juga membutuhkan latihan baca elektronik yang didasarkan pada karakteristik peserta didik kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan diatas rata-rata. (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik berkemampuan diatas rata-rata yang dikembangkan berdasarkan kebutuhan. (3) latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik berkemampuan diatas rata-rata dikategorikan mempunyai kualitas yang sangat tinggi seperti yang terlihat dari validitas isi, kualitas empiris, kualitas media and uji lapangan.Kata Kunci : R&D, Latihan Tambahan, Latihan Membaca Elektronik, Differentiated Instruction, Siswa diatas rata-rata Considering the demand of the current curriculum on integrating ICT in teaching English, the problem that is faced by SMP N 2 Singaraja in integrating ICT in English class, the importance of reading skill and the problems of fast learners, this study aimed at finding out (1) kinds of supplementary reading exercises that are needed by the seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercises; and (3) the quality of the electronic supplementary reading exercises. This study was conducted based on the research and development design of Sugiyono (2011). This study was conducted at SMP N 2 Singaraja. The data for this study were collected through document analysis, questionnaire, interview, observation, expert judge, and field study. The data of this study were analyzed using descriptive analysis and interrater Agreement Model by Gregory (2000). The result of this study showed that (1) the supplementary reading exercises needed was in the form of electronic reading that could be used as the media to integrate ICT in English learning. They also needed the electronic reading exercises that were based on the fast learners characteristics of the seventh years students. (2) the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the fast learners was developed based on the needs. (3) the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the fast learners was categorized as a very high quality as seen from content validity, empirical validity, quality of media, and field test.keyword : R&D, Supplementary Exercises, Electronic Reading Exercises, Differentiated Instruction, Fast Learners

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis berbagai macam jenis perubahan phonemic dan semantic yang terjadi pada bahasa pinjaman di Bahasa Indonesia dari Bahasa Inggris yang ditemukan di majalah-majalah pariwisata. Majalah pariwisata dipilih karena peneliti mengkhususkan fokus penelitian pada ranah pariwisata. Ranah pariwisata merupakan ranah dimana kontak antara Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris terjadi lebih banyak karena Indonesia sendiri merupakan daerah tujuan wisata populer sehingga penggunaan Bahasa Inggris dalam komunikasi terjadi lebih intensif. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti berpedoman pada metode “Interactively Data Analysis Model” milik Miles dan Huberman (1984). Langkah-Langkahnya meliputi (1) membaca dua judul majalah yang telah disiapkan, (2) mengumpulkan kata-kata pinjaman dengan mempertimbangkan apakah kata tersebut terdengar/ tertulis seperti Bahasa Inggris atau tidak, (3) menulis dan mengartikan kata-kata pinjaman tersebut dan menaruhnya kedalam tabel-tabel, (4) menganalisis perubahan phonemic dengan berujuk pada perpaduan teori dari Warsiman dan Haspelmath & Tadmor, Teori milik Lass dan teori rephonemicization milik Crowley; perubahan semantic dengan berujuk pada teori milik Bloomfield, (5) memverifikasi dan menarik kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat 5 tipe perubahan phonemic pada konsonan (6 proses phonemic shift, 3 proses phonemic split dan 1 proses masing masing untuk apocope, syncope dan lenition) dan 3 tipe perubahan phonemic pada vokal (2 proses phonemic split, 4 proses phonemic merger dan 4 proses paragore). Selain itu, terdapat juga tiga tipe perubahan semantic, meliputi perluasan makna, penyempitan makna dan peyorasi. Kata Kunci : kata-kata pinjaman, perubahan phonemic, perubahan semantic This research paper analyzes the various phonemic and semantic changes of Indonesian words borrowed from English appearing in tourism magazines. Tourism magazines were chosen because the researcher limited the focus of the study under the area of tourism field. Tourism field was considered as the field where language contact between English and Indonesian occurs more frequently than the others because Indonesia is a popular tourist destination so that the usage of English in communication happens intensively. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the method of “Interactively Data Analysis Model” of Miles and Huberman (1984). The steps were (1) reading the two magazines prepared, (2) collecting the borrowed words by considering whether the words has maintained the quiet similar spelling /pronunciation with English or not, (3) transcribing and defining the borrowed words and putting them into tables, (4) analyzing the phonemic changes based on the synthesized theories of Warsiman and Haspelmath & Tadmor, the Lass’ theory and the rephonemicization theory of Crowley; semantic changes by considering the theory of Bloomfield, (5) verifying and drawing a conclusion of the study. The results of the study show that there are five types of phonemic changes for consonants (6 processes of phonemic shift, 3 processes of phonemic split, and 1 process for apocope, syncope, lenition respectively) and three types of phonemic changes for vowel (2 processes of phonemic split, 4 processes of phonemic merger and 4 processes of paragore). Further, there are three types of semantic changes: semantic broadening, semantic narrowing and pejoration. keyword : borrowing words, phonemic changes, semantic changes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh permainan ular tangga terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Inggris siswa Sekolah Dasar kelas 6 di Sukasada pada tahun akademik 2015/2016. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control group design. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas 6 di Kelurahan Sukasada. Sample diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Cluster Randon Sampling. Dua kelompok diambil sebagai sample penelitiian, kemudian dua sample dipilih menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen diajarkan dengan menggunakan permainan ular tangga dan kelompok kontrol diajar dengan ceramah. Pada akhir pengajaran, siswa diberikan posttest. Hasil dari posttest ini dianalisis menggunakan deskriptif dan inferensial statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, nilai rata-rata siswa kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (79.10 > 61.65). Disamping itu,dari uji T, diperoleh nilai thitung = 5.487, yang mana lebih tinggi dari nilai ttabel = 2.030. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan permainan ular tangga terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Inggris siswa. Dengan demikian, permainan ular tangga adalah media pembelajaran yang baik untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : permainan ular tangga, young learners, hasil belajar bahasa Inggris This study aimed at investigating the effect of Snake and Ladder towards students’ English learning achievement at the sixth grade students of elementary school in Sukasada in academic year 2015/2016. The design of the study was posttest only control group design. The population of this study was all the sixth grade students in Sukasada, Sukasada subdistrict, Buleleng Regency in academic year 2015/2016. Two groups were taken by using cluster random sampling technique as the samples of the study. The samples were chosen to be experimental and control group by using lottery. The students in the experimental group were taught by using Snake and Ladder game, while those in the control were taught by lecturing. At the end of the treatment, both groups were given a posttest. The data obtained in this study were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The result of the study showed that the students in experimental group obtained better score than those in control group, which was proven by the mean score (79.10 > 61.65). Moreover, the result of independent sample t-test showed that the value of t observed was 5.487 which was higher than t critical value (2.030). It was proven that there was significant effect of using Snake and Ladder game towards students’ English learning achievement. Based on that, Snake and Ladder game is considered as a good media for teaching English for young learners.keyword : Snake and Ladder game, young learners, English learning achievement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis kesalahan pada grammar siswa kelas X di SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja dalam menulis teks recount, dan (2) menjelaskan penyebab dari kesalahan pada grammar dalam menulis teks recount oleh siswa kelas X di SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja. Subjek penilitian ini adalah para siswa kelas X jurusan Akomodasi Perhotelan 1 di SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja. Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggunakan tugas menulis dan wawancara sebagai instrument terpenting dalam mengumpulkan data. Teori dari Azar mengenai klasifikasi error digunakan untuk meneliti jenis kesalahan pada grammar yang dilakukan oleh subjek penelitian. Ada 14 jenis kesalahan pada grammar yang diklasifikasikan oleh Azar (1989) dan seluruh jenis tersebut teridentifikasi pada tulisan teks recount siswa. Kesalahan tersebut yaitu, verb tense (27.76%), add a word (16.18%), capitalization (11.49%), omit a word (10.66%), word choice (8.09%), spelling (8.00%), meaning not clear (6.43%), word form (4.04%), word order (3.49%), singular/plural (1.75%), incomplete sentence (0.83%), article (0.74%), run-on-sentence (0.37%), dan punctuation (0.18%). Penyebab kesalahan pada grammar tersebut diklasifikasikan menurut teori Richard (1979) mengenai klasifikasi sumber eror, yaitu: interference, intralingual, dan developmental. Sumber kesalahan menurut Brown yang juga digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah communication strategy. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa interference merupakan penyebab kesalahan grammar tertinggi pada subjek, ini disebabkan oleh pengaruh bahasa ibu yang begitu kental sehingga ketika menulis kalimat berbahasa Inggris, para subjek tetap terpaku pada struktur bahasa ibu mereka. Kata Kunci : kesalahan grammar, sekolah kejuruan, analisis eror, pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. This research aims at : (1) identifying the types of grammatical errors committed by the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja in writing recount texts, and (2) describing the sources of grammatical errors in writing recount texts made by the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja. The subjects of this study were the tenth grade students of class Tourism Accommodation 1 in SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja. This research was designed as descriptive qualitative research. This study used writing task and interview guide as the main instruments to collect the data. Azar’s theory of classification of errors was used to know the types of grammatical errors committed by the subjects. There are 14 types of grammatical errors classified by Azar (1989) and all of them were found in the subjects’ writing of recount text. These errors were verb tense errors (27.76%), add a word error (16.18%), capitalization error (11.49%), omit a word error (10.66%), word choice error (8.09%), spelling error (8.00%), meaning not clear error (6.43%), word form error (4.04%), word order error (3.49%), singular/plural error (1.75%), incomplete sentence error (0.83%), article error (0.74%), run-on-sentence error (0.37%), and punctuation error (0.18%). The sources of errors were classified based on Richard’s (1974) classification of sources of errors, namely: interference errors, intralingual errors, and developmental errors. The source of error according to Brown, which is taken into account in this study is communication strategy.
